Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi, subtitled "An Illustrated Guide to the Galaxy's Golden Age" and originally announced as Star Wars: The High Republic: An Illustrated Archive, is a canon reference book by Cole Horton. The book was published by Insight Editions as part of Phase II of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project on February 28, 2023 in the UK and was published on March 21, 2023 in the US.

In the introduction, Jedi Master Harli Cogra explains that his book covers the 150 year period leading up to the Great Works of Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh, the Great Hyperspace Disaster and the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order's conflict with the Nihil.

Chapter 1: For Light and Life

This chapter gives a background into the history, beliefs and organizational structure of the Jedi during the High Republic Era. The first chapter also introduces several members of the Jedi High Council including Grand Masters Xo Lahru, Pra-Tre Veter, Yoda, Masters Ada-Li Carro, Keaton Murag, Oppo Rancisis, Yarael Poof, Rana Kant, Teri Rosason, Soleil Agra, Grand Master Ry Ki-Sakka and Master Adampo. "Light and Life" also talks about the Grand Temple, the Barash Vow and the Wayseekers.

The book also contains a map of the galaxy focusing on the Outer Rim Territories. Cogra explains that in the past 150 years, the Republic had expanded from its core territories in the Core Worlds and Mid Rim Territories into the Outer Rim during the Great Hyperspace Rush through the development of new hyperspace routes. The map also shows Nihil territory, which covers a thin red band stretching from Mulita in the west to Vint in the east.

Chapter 2: The Jedi of the Frontier

This chapter covers the 150 year period leading to the events of the Great Disaster. During that period, the Jedi embarked on a great quest of exploration into the Outer Rim. The chapter also covers hyperspace theory, philosophy and history including the role of the Graf and San Tekka in hyperspace prospecting. The chapter also covers the joint Republic and Jedi Pathfinder teams, which played a crucial role in discovering new hyperspace routes. Cogra also talks about the establishment of Jedi frontier outposts, the non-Force-using Path of the Open Hand cult, Jedi attempts to mediate peace between the warring planets of Eiram and E'ronoh, the Battle of Jedha and the relationship between the Jedi Porter Engle and Barash Silvain.

Chapter 3: Beacons of the Republic

This chapter talks about the creation of the space station Starlight Beacon, which was part of Chancellor Soh's efforts of space stations in the Outer Rim known as beacon. The third chapter also talks about the Great Hyperspace Disaster, which was caused by the Republic freighter Legacy Run colliding with a Nihil ship in hyperspace. The fragments were scattered around the Outer Rim, disrupting interstellar travel and threatening numerous worlds. The third chapter talks about Master Avar Kriss' role in protecting the planet Hetzal through the "Song of the Force." The chapter also covers the Battle of Kur, the dedication of Starlight Beacon and Jedi efforts to evacuate Dalna following groundquakes triggered by the Nihil. Cogra also alludes to the Night of Sorrow which occurred on Dalna 150 years ago but does not explore the subject.

Chapter 4: Republican Expansion

This chapter covers the leadership of Chancellor Lina Soh and the Nihil. The chapter discusses the organizational structure of the Nihil, their tactics and technology. Cogra identifies Marchion Ro as the Eye of the Nihil, the organization's leader. He also covers the Nihil's attack on the Republic Fair on Valo and the Nihil attack on the Elite-class exploratory vessel Innovator. The fourth chapter also profiles several Jedi including Loden Greatstorm, Ram Jomaram, Bell Zettifar, Indeera Stokes, Nib Assek, Mikkel Sutmani, Te'Ami, Ty Yorrick and Elzar Mann.

Chapter 5: Growing the Order

This chapter talks about the Jedi Order's fleet of Padawan Academic Cruisers including the Star Hopper. The chapter profiles the Star Hopper's instructors Grand Master Yoda, Master Torban Buck and Padawans Lula Talisola, Zeen Mrala, Qort, Farzala Tarabal and Bibs. The fifth chapter also covers several events including the Star Hopper Padawans' response to the Trymant IV disaster and diplomatic mission to the Hutts. The chapter also profiles the prodigy Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, her Padawan Imri Cantaros and Padawan Ady Sun'Zee.

Chapter 6: In Defense of the Light

This chapter talks as the Jedi Order's role as peacekeepers in the galaxy. It also contains a lengthy discussion of lightsabers, showcasing the lightsabers of Masters Kriss, Gios, Orla Jareni, Sskeer, Padawans Burryaga Agaburry, Rwoh and Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis. The chapter covers the Drengir, the Jedi-Hutt alliance, the Battle of Grizal and touches upon the threat posed by the enigmatic Nameless.In addition, the chapter profiles several Jedi including Reath Silas, Dez Rydan, Cohmac Vitus, Orla Jareni, Sskeer, Trennis, Lily Tora-Asi, Ceret, Terec, Emerick Caphtor, Yacek Sparkburn, Nyla Quinn, and Lyssa Votz.

Chapter 7: The Fall of Starlight

The chapter begins by discussing Starlight Beacon's role in evacuating the population of Eiram following a cyclone. It then discusses several Jedi archivists including Masters Estala Maru and OrbaLin. The chapter focuses on the events leading to the destruction of Starlight Beacon by the Nihil and its repercussions on the Jedi Order and galaxy. The chapter also lists several Jedi who perished or disappeared during the fall of Starlight including Obratuk Glii, Nooranbakarakana, OrbaLin, Estala Maru, Stellan Gios, Torban Buck, Burryaga, Regald Coll, Sskeer, Orla Jareni, Goonral Monshi, Lula Talisola, Farzala Tarabal and Nib Assek.

The chapter also covers Jedi efforts to foil a Nihil plot to steal a fleet of Corellian ships. It ends with a discussion of the enigmatic Marchion Ro and his Nameless creatures. In the afterword, Master Cogra talks about the Jedi High Council recalling all Jedi to the Grand Temple on Coruscant and the formation of a Nihil state known as the Exclusion Zone. Cogra ends with a passage extolling the Jedi to fight for light and life.
