For other uses, see Marshal.

"I'm Cobb Vanth, marshal of Mos Pelgo."
―Cobb Vanth, to Din Djarin[9]

Marshal was a title for individuals of heightened status. The position had ties to both law enforcement, military service, and general authority.

History

"You already made me a marshal when all I wanted to do was help those who were hurting. When all I wanted to do was serve."
"Help people you did, Keeve Trennis. Great service you gave."
"Did I? Really?"
―Jedi Master Keeve Trennis speaks with Grand Master Yoda about her decision to leave the Jedi Order[10]

During the High Republic Era, Jedi Grand Master Pra-Tre Veter and Yoda appointed Jedi Master Avar Kriss as Marshal of the newly constructed Starlight Beacon space station.[5] Keeve Trennis later served as Marshal of the Republic Fleet.[1] During the Clone Wars, it was held by Phara on the Outer Rim planet of Vallt. While marshal, she led her faction against Vallt's government, launching a coup and taking over the government and planet.[2] ISB Marshals were members of the Imperial Security Bureau empowered to arrest other ISB members.[3]

In the town of Mos Pelgo on the planet Tatooine, the town's lawman, Cobb Vanth, was known as "The Marshal" and held the title.[9] Carasynthia Dune later adopted the title in a settlement on Nevarro,[7] and continued to serve in that capacity as a Marshal of the New Republic.[4] Dune later left the position to serve in the New Republic Special Forces, and High Magistrate Greef Karga offered the position to the Mandalorian Din Djarin, who refused the offer.[11] Instead, the rebuilt IG-11 took the role.[8]
