The Republic Pathfinders conducted expeditions in the Outer Rim Territories for the Galactic Republic^[1] and often worked alongside the Jedi Order.^[2] EX droids typically assisted Republic Pathfinders^[1] with discoveries, with the EX droids sending back messages to the communications teams who assisted Pathfinders. Pathfinders were given the mission of finding new hyperspace routes and establishing a communications network^[3] across the Rim.^[4] Pathfinder teams usually consisted of a Jedi Master and Padawan, a pilot, a medic, and an EX droid.^[2]

By 382 BBY,^[5] Jedi Knight Gella Nattai led a team of Pathfinders on an expedition to Orvax as her first mission as Pathfinder team leader, which proved to be a failure for Nattai.^[6]

Jedi Master Silandra Sho led her own Pathfinder team.^[2]

Jedi Master Rok Buran led Outer Rim Expedition Two-Five-Two on an Expedition to Gloam. Unfortunately the pathfinder team was betrayed by Rillik and the entire team, save for Master Buran were killed.^[2] During the same year, Alonso San Tekka and Yarli Yren served as Republic Pathfinders.^[7]
