- "The human Keaton Murag was elevated to the High Council just prior to the Great Disaster. Prior to returning to Coruscant, he served as the marshal of the Naboo temple."
- ―Harli Cogra on Keaton Murag, in Chronicles of the Jedi
The Gallo Temple, also known as the Naboo temple, was a Jedi temple of the Jedi Order that was located on the Mid Rim planet Naboo during the High Republic Era. By 232 BBY, the Gallo Temple was where Jedi Elzar Mann first served as a Jedi Knight. The temple's marshal was the Jedi Keaton Murag, who held the position until he was elevated to the Jedi High Council on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant shortly before the Great Hyperspace Disaster in 232 BBY.
Description
The Gallo Temple,[1] also known as the Naboo temple,[2] was a Jedi temple of the Jedi Order. It was located on Naboo,[1] a planet in the Mid Rim.[3] The Gallo Temple shared its named with the Gungan Boss Gallo,[4] Naboo's Gallo Mountains,[5] and Lower Gallo—a location on[6] the Outer Rim[3] planet Lothal.[6]
History
Keaton Murag served as the Gallo Temple's marshal during the High Republic Era.
The Jedi Order operated the Gallo Temple during the High Republic Era.[1] By 232 BBY,[7] the human[8] Jedi Elzar Mann first served as a Jedi Knight at the Gallo Temple.[1] The human Jedi Keaton Murag served as the marshal of the Naboo temple, and during his time there, Murag saved hundreds of lives during a mining disaster, earning him the respect of the Naboo monarchy. Shortly before the Great Hyperspace Disaster[2] in 232 BBY,[8] Murag was promoted to the Jedi High Council on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant and left his position at the Naboo temple.[2]
While on the Outer Rim planet Valo in preparation for the Republic Fair to be held there[1] in 231 BBY,[8] Mann—by then a Jedi Master—mentally recalled his time at the Gallo Temple, noting it had been a "much-prized position."[1] In 229 BBY,[9] Vurk Jedi Master Harli Cogra wrote a book titled Chronicles of the Jedi, which detailed the Jedi of the High Republic Era. Within a section dedicated to Murag in the book's first chapter, Cogra included a mention of his time as the temple's marshal.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Gallo Temple was first mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[10] The temple was later identified as the Naboo temple in Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi, a 2023 in-universe reference book written by Cole Horton.[2]

- ↑ The High Republic: The Rising Storm establishes that Elzar Mann first served as a Jedi Knight at the Gallo Temple. The High Republic: Light of the Jedi—the events of which are dated to 232 BBY by Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia—includes Mann's promotion to Jedi Master, therefore meaning he must have been posted at the Gallo Temple by that year.

- ↑ Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi establishes that the in-universe book Chronicles of the Jedi was written weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates to 230 BBY. The issuing of the Guardian Protocols, dated by The High Republic Character Encyclopedia to 229 BBY, are depicted in The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1 as taking place one week after Starlight Beacon's destruction. With this, Chronicles of the Jedi must have been authored no earlier than 229 BBY. Chronicles of the Jedi further establishes that Pra-Tre Veter is still a Grand Master of the Jedi Order, meaning it was written before his death, which The High Republic Character Encyclopedia states took place in 229 BBY. Therefore, Chronicles of the Jedi must have been written in 229 BBY.
