"Master Arkoff is right. There is an order to our responsibilities as Jedi, and helping those on Banchii comes first." - ―Arkoff and Lily Tora-Asi
Arkoff was a Wookiee Jedi Master of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. The Wookiee Jedi served on the remote planet Banchii, working with the Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi and several Padawans. In the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace Disaster, Arkoff and the other Jedi on Banchii assisted people who had been displaced by the catastrophe.
Biography
The Wookiee Arkoff served the Jedi Order during the time of the High Republic Era, attaining the rank of Jedi Master. Arkoff was stationed at the Jedi temple on the remote planet Banchii, alongside the Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi and a number of Padawans. In the time following the Great Hyperspace Disaster[1] in 232 BBY,[7] Arkoff and the Jedi of Banchii assisted those who had been displaced by the disaster, including settlers from Ta'klah. The Jedi also had to respond to a surprise attack on Banchii by the sentient carnivorous plants known as the Drengir in the time leading up to the Republic Fair.[1]
Arkoff was chose to be part of the Luminous Nine. He was present in the Jedi Temple's primary hangar during the loading of the Nameless onboard the Ataraxia. When one of the Nameless broke out of containment and made a break for the rest of the Jedi Temple, the Wookiee threw his body at the creature, knocking it down. He then wrapped his arms around its neck in an attempt to subdue it. During the fight, the Nameless bit down on Arkoff's leg which began to calcify. Torban Buck quickly amputated the leg with his lightsaber.[4]
Personality and traits
Arkoff, Jedi Master
A Wookiee, Arkoff had braided face fur[1] and was considered to be old by the Padawan Bell Zettifar around the time of the Great Disaster.[5] When Jedi Padawans on Banchii were excited by news of the Republic Fair, Arkoff reminded them that as Jedi, there was an order to their responsibilities, of which helping the people on Banchii was the most important.[1]
Powers and abilities
As a Jedi Knight Arkoff was more reliant on his Wookie strength and size rather than actual skill in battle, which limited his effectiveness when fighting against multiple opponents or foes of similar size but by the time he had become a Jedi Master he had adopted his master's fighting style, which consisted in striking only when his attacks could have the greatest effect on his enemy, making him a much more dangerous opponent.[3] Padawan Zettifar considered Arkoff to be skilled in lightsaber combat; when he witnessed Jedi Master Porter Engle fighting off mole mines during a Nihil raid on the planet Elphrona, he judged Engle's lightsaber skills to be beyond anything he had seen from Arkoff.[5] Arkoff was also proficient in telekinesis, being able to repel and move multiple Scav droid on the hull of a ship on his own.[8] As a Wookiee, Arkoff spoke the Shyriiwook language.[1]
Equipment
Arkoff wore a set of Jedi robes with a belt and gauntlets as well as a darker outer robe.[1] His belt held emergency rescue and medical tools.[2] Arkoff also utilized a[5] green[9] lightsaber in combat.[5]
