Mollo was from Mon Cala and lived a life surrounded by war, granting him an understanding of the tumultuous nature of many planets in the Outer Rim Territories.[1]

While Co-Chancellor Kyong Greylark preferred to stay on the Republic's capital Coruscant, Orlen Mollo travelled the Galactic Frontier on board the Paxion, his Longbeam-cruiser. He often worked with the Jedi to resolve conflicts[1] making him a Chancellor of the people.[4] Mollo and Greylark chose this strategy to further their reach in a time of expansion and exploration.[6]

Mission to Eiram and E'ronoh

Arrival and early negotiations

In 382 BBY,[5] Mollo travelled to the Eiram system aboard the Paxion. He had heard of a Jedi relief mission to the system, which had been wracked by a five-year conflict between the two planets Eiram and E’ronoh, both of which had recently agreed to a temporary ceasefire. Mollo wanted to join up with the Jedi and attempt to negotiate a lasting peace treaty, as the war was causing numerous problems for other planets in the Outer Rim. Unfortunately, as the Paxion came out of hyperspace, it collided with the Jedi’s Longbeam cruiser, the Valiant, which had arrived at exactly the same time. Chaos quickly ensued, with the collision causing a skirmish to break out between E’roni and Eirami starfighter squadrons, ultimately leading to E’ronoh’s Princess Xiri A’lbaran crash landing on Eiram. Through the efforts of Jedi Knight Gella Nattai, the skirmish did not lead to a renewal of open war, and Mollo took the Paxion to the moon of Eirie that orbited between the two worlds. There, Mollo met with the Jedi team, which also included Master Char-Ryl-Roy, his padawan Enya Keen, and Master Creighton Sun. He informed them of his plans for peace and, when Nattai destroyed a jamming beacon that had been scrambling their signals, they received a transmission from Eiram informing them that Xiri had survived her crash. Mollo decided to use Xiri’s return by the Eirami to invite both Monarch A’lbaran of E’ronoh and Queen Adrialla of Eiram to a peace summit aboard the Paxion.[1]

The first day of negotiations was unproductive. Despite Mollo exhorting both delegations to come to terms, the very fact that he was trying to influence matters rubbed both A’lbaran and Adrialla up the wrong way, as neither liked the idea of Republic interference. Matters did not improve over the following days. Not only did Mollo struggle to get A’lbaran and Adrialla to see eye-to-eye, but the talks were constantly hampered by sabotaging efforts made by both E’ronoh’s Viceroy Ferrol, but also, unbeknownst to Mollo and those involved, the extremist Force cult known as the Path of the Open Hand. Eventually, Mollo and the Jedi decided to play recordings of the suffering of the E’roni and Eirami people on screens throughout the ship. Shortly afterwards, Xiri advocated for a marriage between herself and the Eirami heir, Prince Phan-tu Zenn, to secure lasting peace between the planets. After some persuading, both monarchs agreed to the proposal.[1]

Complications

The night that the wedding was agreed to, Phan-tu discovered the dead body of the E’roni captain Jerrod Segaru in his bed. With Mollo, Xiri, and the Jedi wondering who was responsible, the Chancellor was surprised by the arrival of Axel Greylark, son of Mollo’s co-chancellor, who had been sent by his mother to represent her interests in the proceedings. Shortly afterwards, both the E’roni and Eirami delegations travelled to E’ronoh for Segaru’s funeral, but after the ceremony the Eirami were pelted with stones by pro-war protesters known as the Children of E’ronoh. With pro-war parties clearly attempting undermine the peace talks, it was agreed that Xiri and Phan-tu would go on a tour with E’ronoh, accompanied by Nattai and Greylark, in order to curry favor with the planet’s citizens and potentially draw out would-be assassins.[1]

This tour was largely successful and revealed the Ferrols to be behind much of the disruption that had occurred. The wedding itself was due to take place in Erasmus Capital City on Eiram, and Mollo presided over the rehearsal dinner the night before, during which Kyong Greylark arrived. However, later that night it was discovered that Viceroy Ferrol had attempted to kill Axel Greylark in his quarters. Yet Ferrol had failed and had himself been slain, while Greylark was nowhere to be seen. Nattai rebuilt Greylark’s therapy droid, QN-1, and showed holorecordings of Greylark plotting with an unknown player to undermine the peace process.[1]

A royal wedding

While Nattai, Enya Keen, and the Jedi Knight Aida Forte were sent to find Greylark, the wedding was set to go ahead regardless. Mollo himself officiated, however there were immediate problems when it was realized that Greylark had left his personal beacon in pot plant within the venue, falsely broadcasting his location to the Galaxy. Given that he had a bounty on his head, this drew in significant numbers of bounty hunters who attacked the Jedi guarding the venue in order to get inside. Xiri told Mollo not to stop the ceremony for anything, and the Chancellor obliged, declaring the heirs to be married amid the sound of fighting. Mollo then went to help the Jedi repel the bounty hunters.[1]

As Mollo and the Jedi battled the bounty hunters, Nattai was unable to prevent Greylark from detonating two of the towers that generated the dome protecting Erasmus Capital City. This caused mass flooding in the city and matters were made worse when Rev Ferrol and the extremist Children of E’ronoh also attacked, bringing down the Paxion and causing it to crash into the sea. Nevertheless, the Jedi managed to prevail against the bounty hunters, Xiri defeated and killed Ferrol, and Nattai captured Greylark. With the crisis averted, discussions were then held as to where to sign the peace accords themselves. Mollo suggested that the signing occur on Coruscant, but this was rejected by Monarch A’lbaran who reminded him Eiram and E’ronoh were not part of the Republic. Nattai then suggested that Jedha be the location, and this received full support. Mollo and his co-chancellor departed together for Coruscant, with Mollo questioning his colleague’s decision to send her son to monitor his activities, arguing that she should have trusted him.[1]
