- "They call it Magrak Syndrome, a disease peculiar to Trandoshans. Rare, but potent. Over time, the brain gives into its...base urges. Aggression. Fury. Rage."
- ―Jedi Master Sskeer to Keeve Trennis
Magrak Syndrome was a rare and intense degenerative disease exclusive to Trandoshans that caused their brains to revert to their base instincts of aggression and rage.[1] The condition was incurable.[2]
In 230 BBY,[3] during the High Republic Era, Jedi Master Sskeer was diagnosed with the condition, and it caused him to start to lose his connection to the Force due to the constant mental effort needed to keep his symptoms at bay. At moments, Sskeer experienced episodes of aggression.[1] As his disease progressed, Sskeer and the Jedi High Council decided he would retire from missions.[2]
Behind the scenes
Magrak Syndrome was created for the The High Republic multimedia project. It first appeared in the twelfth issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic comic series, written by Cavan Scott.[1]
