- "I have deployed stormseeds throughout Nihil space, the sectors of the Outer Rim we will claim for our own."
- ―Marchion Ro
The Occlusion Zone, also known as the Exclusion Zone,[4] the Free Sectors, the Liberated Worlds,[9] Nihil space[10] or Nihil territory,[4] sometimes abbreviated as the O. Z.,[3] was an area of space composed of ten sectors[4] located in the Galactic Frontier[10] within the Outer Rim Territories that was claimed by the Nihil[8] and sealed away behind a barrier[4] known as the Stormwall[3] in 230 BBY.[11] In 228 BBY,[12] in response to an assault on the Stormwall by the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic, Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro had the Occlusion Zone expanded to take more territory from the Republic, swallowing two entire sectors, several systems and planets, and bisecting the Seswenna sector just before reaching Eriadu.[3] Following the escape of Jedi Master Avar Kriss from the Occlusion Zone, Ro had the Stormwall expanded a number of times in a manner that seemed haphazard and unpredictable to the Republic and the Jedi. The Occlusion Zone eventually expanded to engulf most of the Chommell sector[1] of the Mid Rim,[13] including the planet Naboo.[1] At its height the Occlusion Zone contained nearly ten percent of Republic space.[14]
During the Battle of Eriadu[15] in 228 BBY,[16] the Nihil surrendered, ending the Nihil conflict and bringing the Occlusion Zone to an end.[15]

A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
