- "Especially if they happened to be servin' this native Naboo fowl seasoned with an ancient Gungan spice blend—said to be a favorite in Naboo's royal court."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook
Simmered Golden Pheasant was a meat dish consisting of a golden pheasant simmered and seasoned with an ancient Gungan spice blend that was said to be popular in the Royal House of the Mid Rim planet Naboo, homeworld of the pheasant. After taking a culinary tour of the galaxy[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Simmered Golden Pheasant in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[2]
In the book, Tuggs speculated that if the factions involved in the Battle of Naboo[1]—a conflict between the Jedi-backed people of Naboo and the Sith-backed Trade Federation[3] that ultimately led to the Clone Wars—had sat down and talked over a meal of Simmered Golden Pheasant, they could have avoided any bloodshed and likely ended up only fighting over who would get the last piece of the dish.[1]
Behind the scenes
Simmered Golden Pheasant was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the dish makes use of unsalted butter, cornstarch, curry powder turmeric, cumin, allspice, garam masala, and paprika for the roux and olive oil, wedges of onion, garlic cloves, minced ginger, cubed chicken, chicken broth, cubed russet potatoes, wedges of carrot, a grated Fuji apple, honey, kosher salt, tamari, ketchup, and rice for the curry.[1]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
