Dandoran Salad was a type of vegetarian salad made up of red and green chopped vegetables. It was made on the planet Dandoran in Hutt Space, a region controlled by the Hutt species; however, the dish was too healthy for the Hutts to find palateable. The Artiodac Strono Tuggs ate a Dandoran Salad while on Dandoran during a culinary tour of the galaxy, including a poriton in Hutt Space booked by the Hutts,[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY.[2] Tuggs included a recipe for the salad in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[2] He described the dish as fresh and clean and claimed it would brighten his readers' palates, stating he would happily eat any portions of the salad that his Hutt hosts did not want.[1]
Behind the scenes
Dandoran Salad was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the dish makes use of diced cucumber, roma tomatoes, green onions, chopped fresh mint, chopped cilantro, chopped fresh parsley, lime juice, extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and sumac.[1]
