"I made a brief stop at a tapcafe on Lanz Carpo and found myself unable to stop munchin' on this scrumptious snack mix. Judgin' by all the empty bowls at the bar, I wasn't the only one with this problem."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

The Syndicate Snack Mix was a type of vegetarian snack food made by the Carpo Crime Syndicate on the Core Worlds planet Lanz Carpo, a group who made good use of any high-end ingredients they stole. While making a culinary tour of the galaxy[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs stopped on Lanz Carpo and briefly visited a tapcafe where the snack mix was being served.[1]

He found himself unable to stop snacking on the mix, which he considered delicious, and saw many empty bowls on the tapcafe's bar that suggested it was popular with other patrons as well. Inspired by the world's high crime rate, Tuggs then stole the recipe for the snack mix and several more handfuls of the food before moving to a slightly safer location. He published the recipe in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook,[1] in 35 ABY.[2]

Behind the scenes

Syndicate Snack Mix was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the mix makes use of rice squares, popcorn chips, horn-shaped snacks, pea snacks, dried corn, gluten-free pretzels, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
