"These rings may be designed as desserts, but they also go well with a nice cup of caf in the mornin'. Wouldn't be a bad idea to start and end every day with one of 'em, just to make sure everythin' comes full circle."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Circumtore Hoops were a type of hoop-shaped, vegetarian dessert made from brown sweet fried dough with a green topping and a brown garnish. The dish was created by the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, who modified the sweet fried dough balls served by the people of the Hutt Space planet Circumtore so that the dish's shape resembled the ring shape of the planet. This change in shape resulted in increased surface area for frying, pleasantly surprising Tuggs.[1]

After a culinary tour of the galaxy that included a poriton in Hutt Space booked by members of the Hutt species,[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] Tuggs included a recipe for the hoops in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[2] In the book, Tuggs suggested that the rings could be eaten in the morning with a cup of caf instead of as dessert, and even recommended starting and ending each day with one.[1]

Behind the scenes

Circumtore Hoops were created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the doughnuts makes use of fresh cake flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, salt, buttermilk, a large egg, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. The dish's glaze is made using confectioner's sugar, more unsalted butter, whole milk, pandan extract, vanilla, and freeze dried strawberries.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
