- "For instance, when the Narquois pirate Pru Sweevant wasn't braggin' about how many Neimoidian ships he'd captured, he'd ramble on about the delectable forms of fungi found on his homeworld. Can't vouch for the veracity of all of Pru's stories, but after foragin' a few of these long-stemmed mushrooms from the forests of Narq, I can assure you that at least one of 'em was true."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook
Narquois Rolls were a type of vegetarian roll made using long-stemmed fungus from the forests of the Colonies[1] world[2] Narq, homeworld of the Narquois species. The rolls consisted of a thin green base that held a bundle of the brown mushrooms with sliced green garnish on top. While working at Takodana Castle on the planet Takodana, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs heard the Narquois pirate Pru Sweevant speak about the edible fungi of Narq and later visited the world to forage some of the mushrooms during a culinary tour of the galaxy that he made[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY. In 35 ABY,[3] Tuggs included a recipe for the rolls in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook.[1]
Behind the scenes
Narquois Rolls were created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas. The out-of-universe recipe for the salad makes use of olive oil, drained and minced water chestnuts, a diced shallot, a minced garlic clove, trimmed and washed enoki mushrooms, oyster sauce, tamari, mirin, light brown sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, butter lettuce leaves, and minced green onions.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
