"This time around, I focused on other flavorsome Falleen fish and netted these tender, flaky filets. This is the kinda recipe that reminds me how good food doesn't need to be complicated–even if the planet we find it on is."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Hocekureem Filet was a simple seafood dish consisting of tender, flaky filets of white fish from the Hocekureem Sea on the Mid Rim planet Falleen served on top of a bed of black, green, purple, and red ingredients. During a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs caught fish in the Hocekureem Sea in order to make the dish as he did not possess the license necessary to catch the fleek eels—widely considered a delicacy—that he had caught in the sea in the past.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] Tuggs had included a recipe for the dish in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, in which he claimed that the recipe reminded him that good food did not need to be complicated.[1]

Behind the scenes

Hocekureem Filet was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas. The out-of-universe recipe for the dish makes use of a red onion, cod filets, a minced garlic clove, pitted green olives, pitted kalamata olives, olive oil, lemon juice, kosher salt, oregano, parsley, and black pepper.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
