"These juicy jewels actually taste best when they're in the semi-frozen state I found 'em in, so I plan to keep a couple bunches in my freezer for times when I'm cravin' a sweet treat. I have a strange feelin' they're only gonna last about as long as I did in the frigid Kullgroonian air."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Kullgroon Drops were a type of green, ovoid fruit bulb that grew in a semi-frozen state between wrecked starships and broken battle droids in the Wastelands of the frigid Expansion Region planet Kullgroon. While visiting Kullgroon as part of a culinary tour of the galaxy that he made[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs encountered the bulbs and a few non-sentient creatures as the only instances of life on the world.[1]

He gathered as many of the Kullgroon Drops as he could before his fingers went numb and planned to keep a couple of bunches of them in his freezer for when he wanted a sweet treat, as he found the juicy bulbs tasted best when still in their semi-frozen state. He imagined this supply would not last him long and later included a recipe for the bulbs in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[2]

Behind the scenes

Kullgroon Drops were created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas. The out-of-universe recipe for the dish makes use of green grapes to represent the drops and includes lemon juice and blue raspberry gelatin.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
