"Folks in the planet's undercity started makin' meals outta these gargantuan gastropods by necessity back in the day, but it wasn't very long before citizens in the planet's upper echelons caught on and elevated this bottom feeder, creatin' this savory slug sandwich. The topsiders might not think they have much in common with the riff-raff livin' down below 'em, but this roll is somethin' they can all agree on."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Duraslug Rolls were a type of savory sandwich made using the meat of the duracrete slug. Occupants of the Core Worlds ecumenopolis Coruscant's lower levels originally ate the slugs out of necessity, but after citizens living in the planet's upper levels quickly learned of the creature's culinary uses, they created the Duraslug Roll, which became popular with denizens of both Coruscant's upper and lower levels.[1]

After making a culinary tour of the galaxy[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Duraslug Rolls in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook,[1] which was published in 35 ABY.[2]

Behind the scenes

Duraslug Rolls were created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the rolls makes use of mayonnaise, lemon juice basil, garlic salt, celery seeds, black pepper, lobster meat, brioche buns, unsalted butter, chopped chives, and lemon wedges.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
