"This traditional Dathomirian noodle bowl has a burnin' broth that grows red like the planet's swampy surface. Add in a slab of rancor meat and a few Valon Clusters and you're in for a fiery feast that's simply magick."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Dathomirian Noodles was a spicy noodle bowl dish made on the Outer Rim Territories planet Dathomir by the Nightsisters, a coven of native Dathomirian witches. Before they were wiped out during the Clone Wars[1] between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems,[2] the witches brewed the noodles in their cauldron. Alongside the red noodles, the dish also included pink meat of the native rancors, sliced yellow fruit, small yellow grains, larger green grains, and Valon Clusters, all contained within a brown broth.[1]

After a culinary tour of the galaxy that he made between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[3] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Dathomirian Noodles in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which had been published[1] by 35 ABY.[3] In the book, he described the noodles as "magick,"[1] in reference to the form of sorcery the Nightsisters were known to utilize.[4] He believed it was spicier than another recipe, the Mustafar Hot Pot.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dathomirian Noodles were mentioned in the 2023 canon cookbook Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, which was written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The book provided a recipe that consisted of water, gochujang, red miso, instant ramen noodles, egg, corn, shelled edamame, lime wedges, Spam meat, and green onions, as well as the book's ingredients for Valon Clusters.[1]

  3. 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
