"Before too long, I had baked a batch of moist little cakes that are equal parts spice and sweetness. You might not find this dessert bein' served on the Moon of Avedot, but I promise you'll find a little bit of the Moon of Avedot in every brightly colored bite."
―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook[1]

Avedot Cakes were a type of vegetarian cake created by the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs after he visited the Moon of Avedot in the Colonies during a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY.[2] Inspired by the moon's glowing orange skies, Tuggs baked the small cakes in his food freighter after his brief visit, using orange root vegetables he had previously picked while on the planet Hynestia Prime.[1]

The moist brown cakes were equal parts spicy and sweet, with white frosting on top and a green garnish. They were served in a brown casing and where brightly colored when bitten into. Tuggs included the recipe for the cakes in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[2]

Behind the scenes

Avedot Cakes were created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas. The out-of-universe recipe for the cake makes use of all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, kosher salt, large eggs, vanilla extract, and grated carrots. For the frosting it uses cream cheese, softened, unsalted butter, confectioners' sugar, maple syrup, more vanilla extract, more cinnamon, more kosher salt, heavy whipping cream, chopped pecans, and chives.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
