This list contains every piece of canon Star Wars narrative media in chronological order (as far as I can figure out). This is currently a WIP. This page does not have multiple entries to show concurrent events, each entry is based on the beginning of the media's events. Only one entry is given to each piece of media unless the events take place over multiple years, there are flashbacks or framing narratives, or if there is a significant time jumps or gaps in the narrative. This list is about narrative media, so it does not list every piece of backstory or historical worldbuilding. Unless it is told like a story and not like information, it will not be listed.

This page is based on an Appearances section (see rules here), but there are a lot of places where this list differs. This list is primarily based on Star Wars: Timelines, with most other stories and events worked in. However, Timelines isn't gospel and newer sources are considered more accurate. With all of this, if there exist a contradiction between the narrative and an official timeline, consistency with the narratives is preferred. Some liberties will be taken when placing media that has an ambiguous placement, but all media will have a source accompanying it.

If a video game has no canon narrative, contains only scenarios with canon elements, and doesn't actually adapt any specific part of Star Wars media, it will not be listed. A video game's canon narrative will only be considered. For the purposes of this list, (Flashbacks) will be anything that isn't the frame story or the "present day" main story. I've also put short stories, audio dramas and video games after comic book miniseries when listing full adaptations.

Note: If there is a source for a placement that is just a book's name[1] and not an explanation[2], then the book specifically places the media at an exact point in the year, relative to other pieces of media (i.e. it literally states the order they take place in chronologically). If nothing else takes place the same year, or every other piece of media is set relative to it, a source that only references the year it takes place is the only source necessary.

Timeline (with flashbacks and sources)

Key:
✱ = placement is estimated (an official source doesn't place it at a specific point, so the placement is guessed, and sometimes based on convenience)
● = placement is estimated (an official source places it within or around a year, but the placement relative to other works is unknown)
△ = ambiguous canonicity
† = unreleased content

  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, the first Star Wars: The High Republic novel published, to 232 BBY. StarWars.com 10 Things We Learned from the Star Wars: The High Republic Anniversary Special on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that the events of Phase II of The High Republic take place 150 years before those of Phase I, which began with the publication of Light of the Jedi. This takes place at some point during Phase II, meaning the ealiest it can take place at some point in 382 BBY.
  3. This story begins billions of years before The Empire Strikes Back, and then continues on for a few cneturies before jumping closer to 3 ABY.
  4. This story takes place over millennia and describes a vague time period long before the "modern day" of the book. Considering this is meant as an origin story for the petrified trees at Black Spire Outpost, this story could take place millions of years in the past. There is no way currently to place this story within any time period other than at some point in the vague distant past.
  5. Takes place "in a time when the galaxy itself was still young," at least two thousands year before 26 BBY according to Choose Your Destiny: An Obi-Wan & Anakin Adventure, but probably way earlier.
  6. This story takes place sometime when the Mon Calamari were a "fledgling species." They have developed underwater cities, but it is unknown how advanced these cities are. There is no way currently to place this story within any time period other than at some point in the vague distant past.
  7. StarWars.com SWCE 2023: 11 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that the James Mangold film takes place 25,000 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which Star Wars: Timelines states begins in "0".
  8. This story states that the hyperdrive is relatively new technology. Nexus of Power states that the Devaronians developed hyperspace technology by 30,000 BBY, however, Timelines dates the creation of the Galactic Republic in c.20,000 BBY as being a response to widespread hyperspace travel. Devaronian hyperspace travel is implied to come earlier relative to the wider galaxy. Considering Corellia was one of the founders of the Republic, and they are stated to be the inventors of the hyperdrive in other sources, it seems reasonable to assume that they invented the hyperspace technology that would become widespread sometime after the Devaronians, but before the creation of the Republic. Considering also the fact that hyperdrives are described as still being primitive, "The Skiff & the Galleons" probably takes place some time before 20,000 BBY.
  9. "The Black Spire" features Black Spire Outpost, the earliest it can be set is after the short story "The Skiff & the Galleons". There is no indication that it must take place later.
  10. It's stated that force-assisted hyperspace travel was used to connect the Core Worlds planet Metallos to Ilum in the Unknown Regions. This implies the Jedi are already near the Core Worlds, and not on Ahch-To. I am assuming here, that the Jedi Order spread from Ahch-To to the Core Worlds over the past 5,000 years without hyperspace travel and that they didn't have access to Devaronian hyperdrives before this point. As the discovery of Ilum is supposed to take place tens of thousands of years before the Imperial Era, c.20,000 BBY is literally the only time for this to take place.
  11. "The Gilded Cage" takes place before and after the events of "Gaze of Stone". As such, it also takes place around 4000 BBY.
  12. The story describes Darth Caldoth and Ry Nymbis "harnessing their hatred in ways not seen in the galaxy for a thousand years." That implies that the Sith have existed for at least 1,000 years. Star Wars: Timelines dates the creation of the Sith to c. 5000 BBY, meaning the earliest this story can take place is 4000 BBY.
  13. "A Life Immortal" features the Sith Citadel on Exegol in ruins. It must therefore take place some vague distant time after the Sith were created.
  14. "The Dark Mirror" features the Jedi Temple. Star Wars: Timelines dates its construction to 1032 BBY, therefore the earliest it can take place is then.
  15. In "The Sleep of Ages," the Sith are defeated and unknown. Star Wars: Timelines dates the Defeat of the Sith to 1032 BBY, therefore the earliest it can take place is then.
  16. The events of "Blood Moon" take place at some point after the Old Republic fell. Star Wars: Timelines dates the reformation of the Old Republic in the modern Galactic Republic to 1000 BBY, therefore the earliest it can take place is then.
  17. The Great Storm is followed by centuries of war which causes the Evereni to leave their homeworld. Star Wars: Timelines dates the "Everon Exodus" to c. 500 BBY, therefore the Great Storm and the following conflicts must have happened by at latest 700 BBY.
  18. The flashbacks in The High Republic Adventures: Quest of the Jedi are dated to around a century before the main events of the comic. The comic is set during Phase II of the Star Wars: The High Republic, which is set in 382 BBY. Therefore, it takes place around 482 BBY.
  19. The flashbacks in The High Republic — The Blade 1 take place 25 years before the main events. Star Wars: Timelines dates the main events to 382 BBY.
  20. The flashbacks in The High Republic — The Blade 2 take place 17 years before the main events. Star Wars: Timelines dates the main events to 382 BBY.
  21. The flashbacks in The High Republic — The Blade 3 take place 15 years before the main events. Star Wars: Timelines dates the main events to 382 BBY.
  22. The High Republic: Convergence establishes that Axel Greylark was eighteen years old thirteen years prior to its events. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of Convergence to 382 BBY, he must have been born in 413 BBY. Greylark is seventeen years old in "The Queen's Bloom," dating its events to around 396 BBY.
  23. The flashbacks in The High Republic (2022) 3 are dated to 5 years before the main events of the comic. The comic is set during Phase II of the Star Wars: The High Republic, which is set in 382 BBY. Therefore, it takes place around 387 BBY.
  24. Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia and StarWars.com Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (backup link) both place Quest for the Hidden City at the beginning of Phase II. Both sources are largely inaccurate, but I'm assuming for now, that the placement of this book as the first Phase II book, taking place in 382 BBY, is correct.
  25. 25.0 25.1 25.2 25.3 Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures: The Nameless Terror takes place at some point following the events of The High Republic: Quest for the Hidden City.
  26. 26.0 26.1 The High Republic: Path of Vengeance establishes that the ambush on Thelj, as depicted in The High Republic: Path of Deceit, caused the destruction of the Children of the Open Hand.As The High Republic: Convergence, depicts the Children still in existence, it must be set before Path of Deceit. Convergence takes place five years after the start of the Eiram and E'ronoh War, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 387 BBY, thereby placing Convergence in 382 BBY. As the events of Path of Deceit take place before the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY, they must have occurred that same year.
  27. The High Republic Adventures: Quest of the Jedi takes place shortly after The High Republic: Path of Deceit.
  28. 28.0 28.1 28.2 28.3 Star Wars: The High Republic — The Blade takes place after the end of the Eiram and E'ronoh War, therefore it takes place at some point after The High Republic: Convergence.
  29. The High Republic: The Battle of Jedha starts 3 days prior to the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  30. 30.0 30.1 30.2 Star Wars: Timelines places the events of The High Republic Adventures (2022) sometime after the the Summit on Jedha begins 3 days before the Battle of Jedha in 382 BBY.
  31. "Tales of Enlightenment: The Unusual Suspect" features the Bombing of the Second Spire, which takes place 2 days before the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  32. "Peace and Unity" is set shortly before The High Republic (2022) 1.
  33. 33.0 33.1 33.2 33.3 The High Republic (2022) begins the same day as the Bombing at the Temple of the Kyber with issue 3 taking place during the bombing. The bombing happened earlier the same day the Battle of Jedha occurred according to The High Republic (2022) 4.
  34. 34.00 34.01 34.02 34.03 34.04 34.05 34.06 34.07 34.08 34.09 34.10 34.11 This takes place at some point during the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  35. The High Republic: Path of Vengeance takes place during and after the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  36. The High Republic: Cataclysm takes place following the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  37. The flashbacks for The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Precedent takes place before and during the Night of Sorrow, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY.
  38. The High Republic: Quest for Planet X takes place 1 day after the Battle of Jedha, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY. It also mentions the Night of Sorrow, meaning it either takes place concurrently to it or after it.
  39. As "A Closed Fist Has No Claws" takes place after the Night of Sorrow, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 382 BBY, it must be set during or after 382 BBY.
  40. Rooper Nitani is eighteen during the events of "Shield of the Jedi." The High Republic: Quest for Planet X, set immediately after the Battle of Jedha, takes place a week after Nitani turned fifteen, which places "Shield of the Jedi" around three years after the Battle of Jedha. Star Wars: Timelines dates the battle to 382 BBY, meaning that "Shield of the Jedi" takes place around 379 BBY.
  41. "Tales of Enlightenment: Missing Pieces" takes place around five years after the Battle of Jedha, dated to 382 BBY in Star Wars: Timelines.
  42. "First Mission" takes place when Vernestra Rwoh was a Padawan. She joined the Order at 'young' age and became a Jedi Knight at fifteen. During the events of The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, she is sixteen. Since Star Wars: Timelines dates The High Republic: Light of the Jedi to 232 BBY, "First Mission" must take place between 248 and 233 BBY.
  43. "Set For Life" takes place prior to Loden Greatstorm's capture in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which takes place in c. 232 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines. However, it also takes place after Bell Zettifar was discovered by the Jedi Order, which Light of the Jedi places fifteen years earlier, meaning he was discovered around 247 BBY, and "Set For Life" takes place between those years.
  44. "Undead or Alive" takes place after Ty Yorrick left the Jedi Order and before Yorrick leaves her Verazeen stones with Drewen in The High Republic Adventures — The Monster of Temple Peak 4. Yorrick's departure from the Jedi Order is depicted in the flashbacks of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures — The Monster of Temple Peak, set a decade before its main story. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of The High Republic: The Rising Storm to 231 BBY. As The Rising Storm also places The Monster of Temple Peak three months before, The Monster of Temple Peak takes place around 231 BBY, the flashbacks are around 241 BBY. Therefore "Undead or Alive" must take place between the two years.
  45. "What a Jedi Makes" takes place after Lina Soh was elected Supreme Chancellor, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to around 234 BBY. Therefore the earliest "What a Jedi Makes" can take place is 234 BBY.
  46. Star Wars: Timelines dates "A Coruscant Solstice" to c.232 BBY before the Great Disaster.
  47. 47.00 47.01 47.02 47.03 47.04 47.05 47.06 47.07 47.08 47.09 47.10 47.11 47.12 47.13 47.14 47.15 47.16 47.17 47.18 47.19 47.20 47.21 47.22 47.23 47.24 47.25 47.26 47.27 47.28 47.29 47.30 47.31 47.32 47.33 Premium-Era-real The Walt Disney Studios All Access - 4.11.23 SW Celeb Tues Wrap Up Press Blast, published by Walt Disney Studios on Getty Images (backup link) places Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures 200 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, which corresponds to 232 BBY according to Star Wars: Timelines. The earliest this series can take place is at some point during 232 BBY.
  48. The High Republic: The Great Jedi Rescue begins as Hedda Casset is notified of the oncoming collision. This places it just after The High Republic: Light of the Jedi begins.
  49. 49.0 49.1 49.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates The High Republic Adventures (2021) 1 as taking place before The High Republic: A Test of Courage. It also dates The High Republic Adventures (2021) 5 as taking place after The High Republic: A Test of Courage and The High Republic (2021) 1. Therefore, the earliest these issues can take place is sometime between The High Republic Adventures (2021) 1 and The High Republic: A Test of Courage.
  50. Star Wars: Timelines dates The High Republic Adventures (2021) 6 to before "Starlight: Hidden Danger", the earliest The High Republic Adventures (2021) 7 can take place is after The High Republic Adventures (2021) 6 but before "Starlight: Hidden Danger" as well.
  51. "The Banchiians" is set shortly before The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 1.
  52. 52.0 52.1 52.2 52.3 Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures: The Nameless Terror is set sometime after the Attack on Valo's end, which Star Wars: Timelines dates after the events of The High Republic Adventures Free Comic Book Day 2021.
  53. Star Wars: Timelines dates "Deck the Halls" to c. 231 BBY but specifically at some point around the events mentioned on page 32. The earliest "Deck the Halls" can take place is before The High Republic (2021) 8.
  54. "Crash and the Crew Do What They Do" takes place sometime after The High Republic: The Rising Storm. The Battle of Grizal, which is the event in the book, is dated as happening after The High Republic (2021) 8, but before The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 1. Therefore, the earliest "Crash and the Crew Do What They Do" can take place is between these two events.
  55. 55.0 55.1 55.2 The High Republic Adventures (2021) 8 takes place after the investigation into Loden Greatstorm's death at the Battle of Grizal has already begun, meaning the earliest the Attack on Takodana and The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 2 can take place is after The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 1 but before The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 2 which takes place a week after.
  56. "The Lonely Traveler is Home" takes place days after the attack on Takodana, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 231 BBY.
  57. The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 2 is set sometime after the Attack on Takodana, which ends in The High Republic Adventures (2021) 10.
  58. The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 2 takes place "weeks" after The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 1, meaning at the earliest, it could take place before The High Republic: Out of the Shadows.
  59. "Starlight: Past Mistakes" is set shortly before The High Republic: Tempest Runner.
  60. "The Haul" is set sometime after Muglan joined the Nihil in The High Republic: Tempest Runner. At the earliest, "The Haul" could take place during or immediately following The High Republic: Tempest Runner.
  61. The High Republic Adventures: Galactic Bake-Off Spectacular takes place shortly before The High Republic Adventures (2021) 11.
  62. The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 3 is set concurrently to The High Republic Adventures (2021) 11.
  63. "Tales of Villainy: A Very Nihil Interlude" takes place shortly before The High Republic: Mission to Disaster.
  64. "No Stone Unturned" takes place shortly before The High Republic: The Fallen Star.
  65. The High Republic Adventures (2021) 13 takes place after The High Republic Adventures (2021) 12, but still concurrently to The High Republic: Midnight Horizon. The earliest it could take place is before The High Republic: Trail of Shadows 4.
  66. 66.0 66.1 This features the Destruction of Starlight Beacon, which begins shortly after The High Republic (2021) 15 begins. The earliest it could take place is concurrently to the comic.
  67. The events of The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Precedent take place after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 230 BBY.
  68. "After the Fall" ends a month after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which is dated to 230 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines.
  69. "All Jedi Walk Their Own Path" takes place a month after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which is dated to 230 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines.
  70. TwitterLogo FriendsOfForce (@FriendsOfForce) on Twitter (post): "Justina: post Phase 1 but not Phase 3" (backup link) places "The Force Provides" between Phase I and Phase III of Star Wars: The High Republic. Phase I ends in 230 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines, and SWYT-Logo Star Wars Celebration LIVE! 2023 - DAY 2 on the official Star Wars YouTube channel (backup link) places Phase III a year later, meaning the earliest "The Force Provides" could take place is 230 BBY.
  71. SWYT-Logo Star Wars Celebration LIVE! 2023 - DAY 2 on the official Star Wars YouTube channel (backup link) dates "Light in the Darkness" right before Star Wars: The High Republic Phase III, which is also placed a year after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which corresponds to 229 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines.
  72. The events of "Rogue Element" take place one year after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 230 BBY.

  74. "Justice" takes place after Qui-Gon Jinn became Dooku's padawan. According to Star Wars: Timelines, Qui-Gon becomes Dooku's padawan in 68 BBY. Therefore, the earliest "Justice" could have taken place is at some point during 68 BBY.
  75. In "Choices" Mace Windu gained a seat on the Jedi High Council. Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith established that Anakin Skywalker was the youngest to ever serve on the Council.
