The High Republic Adventures 8 is the eighth and final issue of the 2022 comic miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Toni Bruno and Michael Atiyeh, and published by Dark Horse Comics on June 28, 2023.

Plot summary
Jedi Padawan Sav Malagán has been captured by criminal gang The Dank Graks, and is being kept in the cellar of Takodana Castle. Having failed to save her hero, pirate queen Maz Kanata, and seeing that Grand Grak Arkik Von has gotten ahold of half of her lightsaber, Sav feels completely defeated, not worthy to be a Jedi or a pirate. Suddenly, pirate hunter Raf Thatchburn appears, along with his Corellian hound Tanteek. It turns out Raf, to whom Sav had given her lightsaber, tried to go undercover with the Dank Graks, offering half of Sav’s lightsaber to them while keeping the other half in Tanteek’s mouth. Touched by Sav’s trust in him, and the kindness with which she treated him even as a pirate hunter, he has had a change of heart about his choice of career, and hopes to rekindle his romance with the pirate Alak after helping Sav escape.
Meanwhile, Arkik Von, holding Maz captive, orders his enforcer droids to seek out and destroy the rest of the rival pirates on Takodana. Realizing that he is the only member of his gang present, he demands to know where the rest of the Dank Graks are. Saya Keem was abandoned during the Battle of Jedha, and Drrn, her only true friend in the Graks, has gone back to the moon to look for her. The whereabouts of Lavalox Verzen are unknown. Sav arrives to confront Von, and the two duel with two halves of the same lightsaber.
Outside the castle, the rest of Maz’s crew is attempting to draw as many droids away from the castle as possible. When Dexter Jettster sees a squad of Jedi approaching the castle through his binocs, the rest of the crew change course, charging towards the castle to help save Maz. Meanwhile, Sav defeats Von after remembering her Jedi training and countering Von’s rage with balance in The Force. She is able to retrieve the other half of her lightsaber just in time for the Jedi Masters of the Temple on Takodana to arrive, including her master Kaktorf and Tera Sinube. Sinube reveals that he had been undercover, disguised as fellow Cosian Lavalox Verzen while she convalesced at an asylum. Strict Kaktorf informs Sav that he has decided to take a leave from the Temple, and the more adventurous Sinube offers to train Sav as her Jedi Master in the meantime. Maz asks Sav and Sinube if they would like to help her go on pirate runs in order to get the castle up and running, and Sav realizes that she does not have to choose between being a Jedi and a pirate: she can play by her own rules.
