Star Wars: My First Comic Reader 1 is an all-ages digital comic published by Disney Book Group on December 21, 2022 for the OverDrive library service. It features the story "Journey to Danger!".[2]

Star Wars includes new original short comic stories on the classic characters of the Skywalker Saga, starring in new adventures with the characteristic humor from a galaxy, far away. My First Comic Reader series is created with: an accessible layout, with few panels/page; a clear storytelling visual flow; short dialogues with use of accessible words; age-appropriate font style and size; and covers Disney, Marvel and Lucas brands. Titles included in the series come in two levels, appropriately graded: level 1 age 5-7; level 2 age 7-8.[2]

Development

Star Wars: My First Comic Reader 1 was digitally published by Disney Book Group on December 21, 2022 for the OverDrive library service. Internationally, it was published in France by Hachette on April 5, 2023,[5] in Spain by Planeta Junior on April 12, 2023,[6] and Mexico on May 11, 2023.[7]

According to Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group, he did not personally review the comic since it had a young target audience.[8]

The Spain publication was titled as Star Wars Aventuras Galácticas (English: Star Wars Galactic Adventures), and does not credit the author or illustrator, however the fan blog La Biblioteca del Templo Jedi contacted the publisher to find this information.[1] This was corrected in the Mexican printing of the book, giving credit to both the author and illustrators, as well using the original title of the book.[9]

Continuity

The novel Brotherhood stated that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala had not seen each other since the First Battle of Geonosis until reuniting in the novel, by which point Anakin Skywalker had become a Jedi Knight.[10] However, Star Wars: My First Comic Reader 1 overruled this claim by featuring both characters together after the Battle of Geonosis but while Skywalker is still a Padawan.
