Plot summary

A group of Imperial cadets, including a male cadet named Jeken and a female cadet named Reann Tomvig, are stranded after their ship is damaged by an explosion. They send out a distress signal, and the crew of the Ghost (the rebels) comes to their rescue. Jeken sees this as an opportunity to capture the rebels and hand them over to the Empire to earn a commendation. However, Reann Tomvig has a change of heart after meeting the rebels and refuses to harm those who came to their aid. When Jeken orders her to stun the rebels with a blaster, she turns on him instead and neutralizes him. The rebels allow the other cadets to go free. The Imperial cadets eventually find their way to Admiral Kassius Konstantine's Star Destroyer, the Relentless. Jeken reports the incident to the Admiral, detailing his plan and Tomvig's betrayal, which earns him praise from Konstantine. Tomvig later goes her own way, deciding that the Imperial path is not for her, and steals a shuttle to head to Alderaan.
