Plot summary
The episode opens with Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs preparing for a training exercise with a training droid. Despite Solay's concerns that the training droid is suitable for older children, Brightstar insists on going ahead. As the three younglings parry against the three-armed droid with their lightsabers, Kai takes the opportunity to introduce his friends Lys and Nubs, who are young Jedi training at the Jedi Temple on Tenoo.
Brightstar explains that Solay is knowledgeable about animals. She rescues a River Qwewt before the training droid cuts a rope in half. Brightstar says that he and his friends hope to become Jedi Knights one day but that they have a lot to learn. The training droid hurls Nubs against a wall, causing it to topple. Despite his small size, Nubs is incredibly strong and able to shoulder the heavy bricks.
After realizing that the droid is too difficult for them, Brightstar attempts to switch it off. He tries to hold onto the droid but it throws him off and flashes its blades at the younglings. At Solay's initiative, the three Jedi younglings launch a coordinated attack and managed to restrain its three arms. With the droid unwilling to give up, Brightstar contacts his pilot friend Nash Durango via holoprojector for help. Durango responds that she and her droid RJ-83 are on their way to help.
The training droid throws the children aside. Brightstar uses the Force to hold the training droid in mid-air and convinces his fellow younglings to combine their Force powers, telling them to be calm and trust each other. They restrain the droid long enough for Durango to arrive and RJ-83 to switch off the training droid's chest button. The four friends hug each other.
However, the River Qwewt accidentally topples a column of bricks, causing a domino effect. Before a column of bricks can crash on the children, they are saved by Jedi Master Yoda who uses the Force to push the bricks aside. Brightstar is delighted that his hero is here and apologizes to the older Jedi. Yoda says they are still learning and is pleased that they learned the importance of teamwork. He sends them on a mission with Durango. The four friends depart on Durango's starship Crimson Firehawk.
