Plot summary

The story revolves around two Imperial defectors, Swain and Cogon, who are trying to join the Rebel Alliance. They are being secretly aided by Senator Nadea Tural, a rebel sympathizer, and her assistant, Beneda. Agent Kallus and his stormtroopers tracker the defectors to the planet Thrad, where they are attempting to reach a trasport that will take them to a rebel cell on Klonoid.

Kallus has been motoring communications and aware of their plan. He manages to corner the defectors. Beneda, who is assisting the defectors, stays behind to destroy evidence of their activities by making his computer room explode. He is injured and knocked unconscious in the process, but the information is lost to the Empire. Kallus successfully captures Swain and Cogon. Despite losing the data, Kallus has achieved his immediate objective of stopping the defectors and preventing them from joining the Rebellion.
