Plot summary
Late for the flight
At the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Jedi Master Yoda told a group of youngling Jedi Initiates that they would soon be heading to different temple outposts across the galaxy to continue learning and training under their teachers. Master Zia Zaldor Zanna asked the droid Dee if the younglings were ready for their trip to Tenoo. Dee replied that all but three younglings were ready for the trip. Master Zanna guessed that the three errant younglings were Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs.
Brightstar, Solay, and Nubs training
Meanwhile in a training chamber, the three younglings were attempting to break their training record by sparring with remotes. While Solay distracted the remote droids with her lightsaber, Nubs gave Brightstar a Force jump which allowed him to advance to the next level of the exercise. He was surrounded by the training remotes but thought he could handle them on his own. Nubs and Solay came to his aid, with Solay reminding him about the importance of friendship.
Working together, the three younglings walked backwards up a platform to reach the beacon while fending off the remotes' blasts. Having reached their destination, the remotes deactivated. The three younglings hugged each other as they celebrated their victory. Master Zanna contacted them via hologram to tell the younglings that their shuttle to Tenoo was leaving. Brightstar apologized to Master Zanna for being late. Zanna told them that they would be leaving on the last shuttle.
Meeting Nash Durango
The Jedi younglings meet Nash Durango and RJ-83 for the first time.
Elsewhere in the hangar, Nash Durango and her droid RJ-83 worked together to finish repairs on the Crimson Firehawk. Shortly after, Brightstar, Solay and Nubs arrived searching for the last shuttle. Durango told them that her ship would be their shuttle and that she would be their pilot. Brightstar was surprised since Durango was a "kid." Durango counters that they were also kids before introducing herself and RJ-83. Brightstar then introduced himself and his fellow younglings.
Durango introduced the younglings to her ship but apologized as she hadn't completed her repairs. Nubs was startled by a leaking pipe. Inside the cockpit, Durango explained that the Firehawk was an old ship that her parents had allowed her and RJ-83 to repair. Durango told the Jedi that her parents ran a shuttle company on Tenoo that transported people and goods across the galaxy. RJ-83 and Durango flew the Firehawk above Coruscant. Once in orbit, RJ-83 activated the hyperdrive, taking the ship into hyperspace.
While traveling through hyperspace, Durango invited the younglings into the ship's living area while RJ watched the cockpit. Durango encouraged the Jedi to make themselves feel at home. Nubs helped himself to a bowl of fruits from the fridge while Durango introduced Brightstar to Giggs, a Gedonian ground weevil that she was taking to an animal preserve on Tenoo. Solay patted Giggs, who took a liking to her. Brightstar explained that Solay got along with animals.
Brightstar took an interest in Durango's hologame table, which the Jedi didn't have access to since they spent much of their time training to be Jedi Knights. Durango was curious about the Jedi and asked if they were heroes who went around saving the day. Brightstar agreed and explained that Jedi Knights helped others and trained in the ways of the Force. Durango asked if Jedi could levitate objects. Solay confirmed but explained that using the Force took practice, training and concentration.
Pirate trouble
RJ-83 exited the cockpit to tell the younglings that they had arrived at Tenoo. Durango and the Jedi returned to the cockpit where Durango took them out of hyperspace. While gazing at Tenoo's green landmass, Durango was contacted by the Latero chef Hap who warned her that pirates were raiding his store and asked if her Jedi passengers could help. Hap was surprised that her passengers were children but Solay and Brightstar were confident that they could deal with the pirates due to their Jedi training. Hap accepted their help but told them to hurry.
Taborr Val Dorn and his gang raid Hap's Sap Tap.
At the Kublop Springs marketplace, Taborr Val Dorn and his gang associates EB-3 and Pord harassed Hap, who suggested that they spent their time playing with other children. Val Dorn countered that being a pirate was fun and "that they take whatever they want." Hap fretted and told the Jedi to hurry up. Above Kublop Springs, Durango introduced her passengers to her hometown. The younglings were mesmerized by the giant trees around the settlement but Durango reminded them that she couldn't give a tour right now due to the pirate menace.
At the docking bay, Durango told the Jedi that she had to stay with her ship and to contact her on a comlink if they needed help. Brightstar thanked Durango before leading his friends to deal with the pirates. Meanwhile, Val Dorn and his friends prepared to make off with their loot in a cart. Before Val Dorn could claim Hap's cap, Brightstar told them to stop and to return their loot. Val Dorn was unwilling to surrender his spoils and told Pord and EB-3 to take the loot back to his starship while he dealt with the Jedi.
Val Dorn brandished a double-bladed electrostaff. Brightstar drew his lightsaber in return and parried with Val Dorn while Solay and Nubs attempted to block Pord and EB-3. Pord hurled vine-like objects at Nubs, which he found delicious. Solay threw a round table into the path of EB-3 and the cart, which caused the droid to fall over. Brightstar and Val Dorn continued fighting in Hap's cafe. The two noticed each other's skills.
Seeing that Solay and Nubs had cornered EB-3 and Pord, Val Dorn abandoned the fight and used his weapon to break several branches, which descended towards Hap's cafe. Brightstar and his friends were forced to use their Force powers to break the descent of the branches, allowing them to land safely on the floor. Hap thanked the children but warned that the pirates had escaped with his belongings. The optimistic Brightstar contacted Durango for help.
The Jedi younglings get rid of the pirates with the support of the local residents.
While Val Dorn and his gang were loading their loot aboard his starship, Durango arrived with the Firehawk. RJ-83 descended with a crane hook and secured it around the cart. Durango used the crane to pull it up. Under Val Dorn's orders, Pord and EB-3 managed to retrieve the cart by pulling it down. Brightstar, Solay and Nubs arrived at the docking bay. Brightstar used the Force to jump in front of the cart and pushed it back. This infuriated Val Dorn who protested. Brightstar responded that it belonged to the local people and told the pirate to leave. The younglings were supported by several of Kublop Springs local residents. Val Dorn conceded defeat but warned that he would make the Jedi wish they had never come out here. Pord and EB-3 boarded the starship as well. The younglings and locals cheered as the pirates departed on their starship.
New home
Later, Durango flew the three younglings to the Jedi Temple on Tenoo, which Brightstar found beautiful from above. He apologized to Master Zanna for being late. Zanna said she was proud of what Brightstar and his friends had accomplished. Brightstar complimented his friends and "new friends." Zanna agreed to give them a tour of the Jedi Temple, which would be the younglings' new home. As they entered the temple, Brightstar assured Nubs that there would be food, and that he could help himself to additional servings.
