The Tenoo Jedi Temple,[7] simply called the Jedi Temple, was an outpost temple located on the planet Tenoo. The younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs were sent there during the High Republic Era by Yoda.[1] In 232 BBY, the Temple was attacked twice by Bulcha and the Ganguls pirate gang, with the Jedi repelling both invasions.[8][9]
Description
The Tenoo Jedi Temple was a trapezoid-shaped building consisting of six layers. It had two side balconies with gardens and a Jedi symbol in its middle. The temple was built around the trunk of a giant Tenoo tree, whose canopy protruded from the top of the structure.[1] The temple also had a long spiral staircase that led to the Tenoo tree's canopy.[10] The Temple's facilities included bedrooms,[3] a cafeteria[2] and a library.[5]
The temple's grounds also had a training field consisting of arches, blocks and an obstacle course for Jedi younglings to train.[11] The temple also had a garden with garden plots that was frequented by Nubs, who was an avid gardener.[12] In addition, the temple hosted landing pads for starships.[1] The Temple also hosted stables for dunnels, furry four-legged beasts of burden.[13]
The Temple was near the town of Kublop Springs, which was beside a river.[14]
History
According to the Legends of the Jedi Temple on Tenoo, the Tenoo Jedi Temple was home to a Tazi sloth that served as its Guardian. The Guardian resided in a giant Tenoo tree at the top of the temple. Prior to becoming a Jedi Master Zia Zaldor Zanna had encountered the Guardian as a youngling.[10]
A new home
Around 233 BBY,[15] Master Yoda dispatched a group of Jedi younglings including Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs to the Tenoo Jedi Temple. The Temple was led by Master Zanna, who was the younglings' instructor and guardian.[1] She was assisted by the caretaker droid Dee.[1]
Later, Nubs accidentally brought back a grumble vine from the garden world of Langsha-Raang. The aggressive plant quickly overwhelmed the Temple, causing some structural damage. Nubs and his friends managed to calm the plant down by covering its center, causing it to retreat. After Master Zanna returned, the temple was repaired by droids and the grumble vine was transported back to Langsha-Raang for safekeeeping.[12]
Master Loden Greatstorm and his Padawan Bell Zettifar visited the Temple. While Master Zanna took Greatstorm on a tour, Brightstar befriended Zettifar and his pet charhound Ember. After saving Ember from a Gangul best, the two attended a lightsaber class taught by Greatstorm.[16] Later, Brightstar teamed up with fellow youngling Djovi Resmia to replaced a damaged beacon stone on a nearby rope bridge. During their errand, the two younglings overcame their mutual rivalry.[17]
Newcomers
By c. 232 BBY,[18] Wes Vinik had joined the Tenoo Jedi Temple as Master Zanna's Padawan. He help Zanna train the younglings including flying Jedi Vector starfighters.[19] Vinik was also joined by a new cohort of younglings including Bren, Linh, and Zotti. Bightstar, Solay and Nubs socialized with the newcomers, making them feel welcome. Brightstar also rescued Bren after he stowed away on a ship to the desert world of Yarrum.[20]
Later, the thief Ace Kallisto and her droid JNX-09 ("Jinx") sought refuge at the Tenoo Jedi Temple from Bulcha the Hutt, who wanted to exploit Jinx's codebreaking skills. At the time, Master Zanna and the other Jedi had left on a field trip, leaving Brightstar behind with the caretaker droid Dee. Kallisto and Jinx helped Brightstar defend the Temple from Bulcha and his droids, who caused significant damage before being trapped and defeated. Master Zanna subsequently returned with the other Jedi and expelled the intruders.[8]
After a planning outdoor outing was interrupted by wet weather Brightstar, Solay and Nubs explored the canopy of the Tenoo tree at the top of the temple after learning about the legendary Guardian of the Tenoo Temple. They discovered the tazi sloth but disturbed the hibernating creature. The enraged tazi sloth chased them. To make amends with the creature, they repaired the roof to its nest. The children gained the trust of the sloth after saving it from falling down a branch. The grateful tazi sloth returned to its sleep. The three younglings later recounted their adventure to Master Zanna, who offered to share her own adventure with the tazi sloth.[10]
Later, Solay gave her Rodian Jedi youngling friend Zotti riding lessons with dunnels, who resided in the Temple's stables. Since Zotti failed to secure the locks to the stables, three of the dunnels escaped and were captured by the criminals Emmett, Chipp and Z-3OR, who attempted to use the animals for a train heist. The Jedi younglings foiled their plot and reclaimed the dunnels.[13]
Battle of Tenoo
After Brightstar, Solay and Nubs confronted the Ganguls pirate gang while recovering a piece of luggage from Yarrum Tower, the Ganguls' leader Sellaccc Orryak vowed revenge on the Jedi for "invading" their home.[21] Putting her threat into action, Orryak assembled a coalition of pirates including the Yarrum Tower pirates, Comet Runners, and Captain Blackbolt to attack the Tenoo Jedi Temple, seeking to expel the Jedi from the Bri'ahl sector by destroying their temple. Despite capturing the temple and jamming signals, the Jedi trainees managed to call for reinforcements before they were captured.[9]
Several allies of the Jedi younglings including Padawan Celesta Kami, Princess Inaya, Raxlo, Kallisto and Nash Durango's mothers Ceeli and Kryys Durango, Cyrus Vuundir, Pord and EB-3 came to their aid during the Battle of Tenoo. While their starships fought the pirate starships above, the Jedi trainees led by Kami and Brightstar foiled the Ganguls' plot to blow up the Jedi Temple with explosives. Orryak then ordered her starship Rathtar's Revenge to use its chains to pull down the temple. Before the Ganguls could complete their work, the Rathtar's Revenge was shot down by Vuundir's starship Iron Talon and Vinik's Jedi Vector. The Ganguls' allies fled while Jedi reinforcements led by Masters Zanna and Carver Drow captured the Ganguls and their remaining vassals. After the battle the Temple undergoes repairs that was caused by the claws of the Ganguls earlier.[9]
