Plot summary
A riding lesson
The episode opens with Lys Solay and Zotti having fun riding a dunnel through the forests of Tenoo. They reach the bank of a river. Zotti tells Solay that their ride was amazing and asks if he can ride on the dunnel by himself near the trees. Zotti slips and almost falls into the river but Solay uses the Force to levitate him out of harm's way. Solay explains that it is also important to learn how to look after these creatures. Zotti bumps into the dunnel, startling the creature. Solay calms the creature and explains that dunnels can get skittish and that one has to gain their trust.
Solay comforts the creature with her hand and allows it to lick her. Zotti hugs the creature. With the dunnel hungry, Solay decides they should ride the creature back to the Tenoo Jedi Temple. After feeding the dunnel, they lead it back to the stables to prepare for lunch. Just then, they are contact via holoprojector by Kai Brightstar, who tells Solay that he and Nubs are trying to get rid off a sciuridi that snuck into their room.
The runaway dunnels
Solay tasks Zotti with securing the dunnels in their stables while she helps Brightstar and Nubs. Zotti manages to secure one of the dunnels inside its stall but the two others tip over their food trough. Zotti manages to usher a second creature inside its stall. He manages to secure the third dunnel but accidentally releases a second one before securing it in its stall. Zotti leaves for lunch but the locks to the stable stalls are not properly secured, allowing the three dunnels to escape.
After lunch, Solay and Zotti return to ride the dunnels only to find that they have escaped. He explains that he was distracted by the smell of lunch and did not properly secure the locks to their stalls. Solay is forgiving and says they should search the rest of the stables for the three missing dunnels. Solay finds several paw prints and she and Zotti follow their trail on the back of a fourth dunnel. The trail dries up near a hedgerow patch.
The bandits
The two Jedi younglings encounter three individuals including the human man Emmett, the Lannik Chipp and their droid Z-3OR with the dunnels. Solay explains that their dunnels escaped from the stables at the Tenoo Jedi Temple. Emmett appears friendly. Solay tasks Zotti with keeping watch over their fourth dunnel while she deals with the strangers. Emmett says that he and his companions found the dunnels wandering in a field and gave them a yellow flower. When Solay asks for their return, Emmett responds that he is not giving them back. When Zotti protests, Emmett says he plans to use the dunnels to rob an approaching train.
Emmett hurls a yellow flower at the fourth dunnel, causing it to run away. While Solay and Zotti are distracted with rounding up their stray dunnel, Emmett and his fellow bandits ride away on their stolen dunnels. Zotti attempts to lure the fourth dunnel back with a flower but Solay manages to calm the creature. The two decide to work together to reclaim the three stray dunnels from the pirates. As the train arrives in the area, Emmett and his companions ride alongside the train, intending to board it.
Reclaiming the dunnels
The bandits use the canopy of a tree as a base for leaping their dunnels onto the top of train, leaving the Jedi younglings and their dunnel steed behind. Solay and Zotti also use a tree canopy as a base for their dunnel to leap onto the train. Solay tells Zotti to focus on reclaiming the dunnels while she deals with the pirates. Solay uses her Force powers to burst some steam pipes, causing the bandits to fall of their dunnel steeds.
Solay demands the bandits evacuate the train but Z-3OR and Chipp fight back with electrostaffs. Solay draws her lightsaber and fights the bandits. She manages to knock Z-3OR's weapon out of his hand and duels Chipp. After taking out Chipp, Solay Force jumps and lands on Emmett. The dunnels rush towards Zotti, who is unable to control them. Heeding Solay's advice, Zotti meditates and manages to calm the creatures. Emmett realizes the group are approaching a tunnel and Chipp panics. Solay decides that they should get off this train.
She and Zotti lead the dunnels off the train and they use a tree canopy as a base to land. Meanwhile, the bandits jump into the river to avoid hitting the tunnel. Solay tells the bandits to enjoy their swim. Emmett vows revenge against the Jedi younglings, who giggle. They ride back to the Tenoo Jedi Temple stables with their dunnels. Under Solay's guidance, Zotti properly secures the locks outside the three runaway dunnels' stables. Solay invites Zotti for a ride on two other dunnels, which Zotti gratefully accepts.
