Plot summary

Helping Wes Vinik

The episode opens with the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs having a lightsaber training exercise with Padawan Wes Vinik, which involves spinning their training lightsabers. Brightstar attempts to spin his lightsaber but loses control and it falls to the ground. Brightstar looks up to the older boy, admiring his lightsaber skills, flying ships and using Force. Vinik reassures Brightstar that he does not need to mimic him and tells him to be confident in himself. He invites the younglings for another round.

They are interrupted by Vinik's astromech droid R0-M1, who is carrying a box. Vinik grumbles that he is caught between two clashing commitments: promising to help Jedi Master Zia Zaldor Zanna this afternoon and delivering a package to Zepher's repair shop. Unable to do both, Brightstar says he and his fellow younglings can deliver the package to Zepher. Vinik is unsure since the package contains refined coaxium, which is used as fuel for hyperspace jumps. He warns that it is very sensitive to movement.

To Vinik's dismay, Nubs playfully lifts the coaxium package. Vinik uses the Force to cushion the package, preventing an explosion. He warns the younglings to be careful. Brightstar promises that he and his group will deliver the coaxium package safely. Vinik is nervous and asks R0-M1 if they will be alright. R0-M1 beeps back in Binary.

Outracing the pirates

As the younglings leave in their Jedi Vectors, they are watched through a pair of macrobinoculars by Gossi, who reports to Corr Taldaan. The pirate leader thinks that following Vinik paid off and that it will be easy to tackle the younger Jedi younglings. The Comet Runners depart in their ship. While flying through Tenoo's asteroid field, they are pursued by the Comet Runners. Taldaan and Gossi contact Solay via holoprojector and demand box of coaxium. Brightstar is defiant and vows not to let Vinik down. Spotting an exogorth jutting out of an asteroid, Brightstar decides to lead the pirates on a chase. He tells Solay and Nubs to follow him.

As they approach the asteroid, Solay and Nubs express concern about the exogorth. The trio fly their starfighters past the exogorth, avoiding its jaws. The Comet Runners' ship gives chase, narrowly avoiding the creature's jaws. Brightstar is nervous because his plan did not work and searches for a way to lose their pursuers. He spots a tunnel through an asteroid. Deciding to take a risk, Brightstar leads the other younglings towards the tunnel. Solay warns that the tunnel is leading to a dead end and expresses concern that they will not be able to outrun the pirates.

Brightstar is still determined to go ahead and accelerates his Jedi Vector. Solay and Nubs reluctantly follow suit and race through the tunnel. The Comet Runners narrowly avoid colliding with the asteroid and fly above the asteroid. The younglings fly their starfighters to the orange moon of Dedoon.

The coaxium heist

On Dedoon, the Jedi younglings are greeted by Zepher, who was expecting Vinik but is delighted to see them. He explains that he needed the coaxium tube for a new starship that he was fixing for a client. Before Zepher can install the coaxium tube, they are interrupted by the Comet Runners. Taldaan claims the coaxium. When Brightstar expresses surprise, Gossi responds that a couple of asteroids will not deter them. Taldaan flashes his vibroblade and demands the coaxium.

The younglings ignite their lightsabers but Gossi activates two Vibrodaggers and Slegg reveals an energy crossbow. The three pirates take on the Jedi with their weapons while Zepher flees behind a box with the coaxium. While Solay tangles with Gossi and Slegg, Nubs confronts the pirates' droid LE-47, who hurls a box at him. Taldaan knocks Brightstar into a pile of boxes, exposing Zepher. LE-47 gains the upper hand of Nubs and hurls the Pooba against several yellow canisters. LE-47 then engages in a tug of war with Zepher, snatching the coaxium. However, Solay and Nubs use the Force to levitate the coaxium towards them.

Slegg's bolt hits the box containing the coaxium, knocking it out of Solay's hands. The coaxium box lands on the ship and bounces near Brightstar and Taldaan. Everyone is relieved the box doesn't explode. Brightstar kicks the coaxium box away and attempts to engage in a spinning move. However, Taldaan takes advantage of the delay to strike Brightstar on the head. Seizing the coaxium box, the Comet Runners retreat behind a pair of blast doors. Before leaving, Taldaan shoots at the controls, leaving the Jedi behind.

Recovering the coaxium

Brightstar blames himself for the situation. Solay advises Brightstar that he doesn't have to mimic Vinik and can choose to be himself. Nubs expresses agreement in Poobian. Brightstar agrees and comes up with an idea that involves his two youngling friends. Using the Force, the two arrange the crates into a stack and climb onto the surface. The trio leap into the Comet Runner's ship as the rear ramp closes. However, they find themselves trapped in the cargo compartment by the Comet Runners. Taldaan says he admires their persistence and demands they leave.

Brightstar expresses defiance and uses the Force to levitate the coaxium box towards him. Gossi attacks with her vibrodaggers, pushing him back. Taldaan sends Slegg to start the ship and tasks LE-47 with opening the rear ramp to expel the intruders. While Taldaan takes on Solay and Nubs, LE-47 opens the hatch. Following a tussle, the Jedi find themselves surrounded by the three Comet Runners. When Taldaan asks if he is ready for another lightsaber round, Brightstar nods to Solay and Nubs. He tells Nubs to head for the door and tells Solay to catch the coaxium box.

While Brightstar takes on Taldaan, Solay uses the Force to pull the box towards her. As the pirates converge on her, Solay throws the box to Brightstar. After Solay and Brightstar flee down the ramp, Nubs damages the door controls with his lightsaber, causing the door ramp to close. LE-47 touches the door panel but is electrocuted. Taldaan is upset but expresses a grudging admiration for the young Jedi. The Comet Runners retreat into space while the Jedi younglings celebrate their victory.

Homecoming

After returning the coaxium to Zepher, the younglings return to Tenoo. They find an exhausted Vinik and R0-M1. The younglings exit their starfighters. Solay tells him that they ran into the Comet Runners while Brightstar says that he learned that he does not need to be like anyone else. Vinik agrees to teach Brightstar and his friends his spinning lightsaber technique but warns that they must add their own style. The younglings begin another lesson.
