REBELS AND ROGUES
Part II
The evil Empire has dispatched countless probes to
scour the cosmos in the hope of finding the Rebel
Alliance. In response, the rebels have enacted a
daring plan!

While Luke Skywalker attempts to lead the Empire
away from a rebel refueling station, Princess Leia
Organa and smuggler Han Solo have been sent to the
planet Lanz Carpo to destroy their enemies in the
Carpo Crime Syndicate by convincing the Empire of
collusion between the gang and the Rebellion.

Meanwhile, Chewbacca and C-3PO were armed with
explosives to set off a chain reaction that would
destroy the uninhabited planet of K43—taking any
nearby Star Destroyers with it. But K43 isn't as

Lanz Carpo....

Plot summary

Political maneuvers and past tensions

On the crime-ridden planet of Lanz Carpo, District Advocate Dar Champion makes a public show of arresting three Red Carpo guards for extortion. A news reporter covers the event, and when asked if the charges will stick, Dar cryptically replies that he's just fighting to make the city safer. As the guards are booked, a droid arrives with a counterorder from a regional magistrate, and Dar explains to Leia that this is the routine on Lanz Carpo: he makes an arrest, and Boss Carpo bails them out. When Han asks what the point is, Dar responds that it is for the sake of "justice." Leia reveals to Han that Dar was her former boyfriend from her Regents' Training, a detail that Dar overhears. He brings up how Leia stood him up before a graduation dance, something he suspects was related to his father's scandal and the indictment of his family for embezzlement. Although his father was guilty, Dar says it took him years to clear his own name.

Following the tense reunion, Han questions whether they can trust Dar, but Leia says they will complete their mission without his help. Dar did provide them with a pass to the Grand Regent, which is full of Boss Carpo's thugs, so their infiltration mission to get to the comm center will be a challenge.

Distractions and dangers

Elsewhere, on Sergia, Luke successfully cuts down an Imperial probe droid. He sends a message by hologram to a nearby rebel group, warning them that the planet is being searched for rebel bases and that they need to lay low while he handles the other Imperial pods. After hours of searching, he spots a nearby city and decides to head there. After entering an establishment, a fight breaks out, and Luke finds himself on the run with a woman who claims to know the Force.

Meanwhile, on the volcanic planet K43, Chewbacca and C-3PO are confronted by the rock people who saved them. C-3PO's inability to communicate with them, combined with the imminent explosion of the detonators they planted, leads to a misunderstanding. The rock people become agitated and chase the pair back to the Millennium Falcon. C-3PO expresses concern about destroying sentient life, but Chewbacca has already triggered the homing beacon, and a massive Star Destroyer appears in the atmosphere, deploying ships to the planet.
