Plot summary
Aboard her ship at the Mako-Ta Base, Queen Trios attempts to flee the planet, but the rebels deny her request to leave. Leia and her team board Trios's ship, engaging in a blaster battle with Trios's soldiers. Trios escapes in an escape pod, telling Leia that she sabotaged the rebel fleet to ensure the survival of her home planet, Shu-Torun. The rebel cruisers are then left immobile and defenseless under a heavy Imperial assault.
The rebels, led by General Dodonna, discover that the cruisers' bay doors can be opened by a nearby ship. A rebel shuttle is launched to attempt the task but is quickly destroyed by Imperial TIE fighters, causing the rebels to lose hope. Just as a rebel cruiser is destroyed, the Millennium Falcon unexpectedly appears from hyperspace. Leia contacts Han Solo and explains that Trios's betrayal has left their fleet vulnerable. She tells Han that if he flies his ship at the sealed bay doors, the proximity sensors will open them, allowing the fighters to launch. Han agrees to the mission and Chewbacca mans the top turret.
Darth Vader receives an update that a small rebel ship is in the area and is proving to be a difficult target. He then flies his TIE Fighter into the battle and begins to expertly target the Millennium Falcon as Chewbacca shoots down several TIE fighters. Luke Skywalker, seeing the Millennium Falcon from a nearby cruiser, knows that Han is on board.
