Boss was the title given to the leader of the Gungan community. Rugor Nass was Boss during the Invasion of Naboo.[6] During the Clone Wars, he was succeeded by Lyonie.[1] The Boss had the power to send the Gungan Grand Army to war or to banish trouble-making citizens.[7]

The title existed outside of Gungan society as well, often denoting a leader, particularly in some business-related or criminal capacity. During the waning years of the Galactic Republic, Xev Xrexus was known as the Boss-Mistress of the Xrexus Cartel.[4]
