Plot summary
On Sergia, Luke Skywalker and Warba Calip flee from stormtroopers on mounted beasts. Luke tells Warba that her mercenary attitude reminds him of a friend who always comes through for others in the end.
A daring feint
In space, Han Solo pilots a small shuttle directly toward an Imperial Star Destroyer with Dar Champion aboard. Han voices his doubts about their plan, and Dar grimly agrees they might die, but if they succeed, they'll save countless lives. Elsewhere, C-3PO receives a frantic call from Han, who explains his dire situation. Luke joins the call, revealing his own predicament with pursuing mounted troopers. C-3PO interjects that Darth Vader himself is on the volcanic planet K43. Han asks C-3PO to use a clear channel for their next transmission, knowing the Imperials will intercept it. On the Star Destroyer, Admiral Ozzel watches as their own TIE Fighters cause more damage to the mothership than Han's shuttle. A technician intercepts the rebels' message: a fake transmission telling the rest of their nonexistent fleet to regroup at K43. The officer notes that K43 is on the edge of Wild Space, a remote location perfect for a rebel base.
A desperate escape
Luke and Warba continue to flee the mounted troopers. Luke creates a series of diversions, successfully evading their pursuers. When they reach their rebel ships, Luke asks his comrades to get Warba to the next safe planet. Warba warns Luke about heading to K43, reminding him that Vader is there. She says that she didn't teach him anything, just what she heard from the people of Jedha. She warns that he'll be killed if he confronts Vader, but Luke insists he must go help his friends.
Meanwhile, on K43, Chewbacca and C-3PO race to their ship, but a sudden rockslide blocks their path. A juvenile rock creature tells C-3PO not to worry, saying they will bury Vader. C-3PO explains to the rock creatures that the bombs they planted are now inaccessible. The rock creatures respond by touching a nearby wall, generating electricity that seems to fry C-3PO and Luke's X-Wing. Chewbacca watches as the powerless X-Wing makes a crash landing nearby. Luke emerges from his ship and sees Vader nearby, feels a sense of overwhelming dread. As his lightsaber fails, Vader's ignites. Suddenly, Chewbacca attacks Vader, smashing a boulder onto the Sith Lord. Although Chewbacca is strong, Vader uses the Force to choke the Wookiee.
