Plot summary
An alliance on K43
On the volcanic planet of K43, C-3PO finds himself in the hands of the Elders of Kakra, a trio of sentient rock creatures. They express confusion at his metal form, as he is neither stone nor flesh. C-3PO explains he is a droid, prompting the rock creatures to celebrate their kinship with a "cousin ore." They question why he serves flesh people, and through a shared memory, reveal that they can see his past. The Elders see C-3PO's memories of being damaged and insist he must now speak for them to the "flesh people."
Meanwhile, Darth Vader arrives on the planet and makes a direct offer to the rock creatures: an alliance.
A change of plans
On Lanz Carpo, Dar Champion holds Leia and Han at blasters, insisting he can't let them complete their mission. Leia argues that Boss Carpo's collaboration has cost hundreds of rebel lives. When Han offers a bribe, Dar scoffs, stating he is not motivated by money. In a swift move, Leia knocks the blaster from his hand, and the two engage in an impressive hand-to-hand fight. Leia subdues Dar and, as alarms sound, they hear that intruders are in the hallway. Instead of turning them in, Dar redirects the officers, revealing his true intentions. He proposes a new plan: instead of framing Boss Carpo to provoke an Imperial attack, they should trick Boss Carpo into attacking the Empire.
Belief and action
On Sergia, Luke travels with his new companion, Warba Calip. Warba reveals that to find the Imperial scouts, they must buy information from a local official. The only way to get the money is to rob the heavily guarded Imperial Payroll Garrison. Luke protests, calling the plan crazy due to the six guard turrets. Warba then instructs him to say the phrase, "I am one with the Force and the Force is with me." She explains that she's seen non-Force users perform impossible feats with belief alone and that if he had even a fraction of their conviction, he could achieve incredible things.
Luke approaches the Imperial facility and, embracing his new belief, takes down the security droids with his lightsaber. In the battle, he drops his lightsaber, and Warba moves to retrieve it for him. He embraces her, grateful and amazed at what she has taught him.
