Opening crawl

Queen Trios' sabotage has left the Rebel fleet
completely helpless and at the mercy of the mighty
Imperial Navy. Until now!

Han Solo has courageously navigated the battle to
deliver crucial intelligence to Luke Skywalker, allowing
the newly formed Rogue Squadron to finally fight back
against the Empire. And Princess Leia has narrowly
escaped Darth Vader after stealing Trios' override codes
for their fleet's systems.

With power finally restored to his cruiser, General
Dodonna has ordered a retreat. But the rest of the fleet
is still at Vader's mercy. The next choice the rebels make
could seal their own fate and the fate of the entire
galaxy....

Plot summary

During the battle, Admiral Kendal Ozzel reports to Darth Vader that the rebels are on their last leg, with their remaining cruisers close to destruction. But before he can gloat, a rebel cruiser appears out of hyperspace and fires on the Imperial flagship, the Executor. General Jan Dodonna, commanding the returning cruiser, orders his crew to fire everything they've got. Vader then orders his ship to return fire.

Dodonna grins, telling his crew the Imperials have taken the bait and to signal Han Solo. Solo, flying an X-wing starfighter, tells his squadron they need to get the codes to the cruisers. Leia sends a message to Mon Mothma to prepare the ambassadors for evacuation. The rebels get the codes, and the cruisers' systems reboot, allowing them to rejoin the fight.

On the Geist, General Hera Syndulla reports her cruiser is ready for action and asks for details on the plan. As the battle rages on, Solo's X-wing takes damage, and Dodonna's cruiser is hit so hard it becomes inoperable. Solo reports his engine is dead. Leia tells Mothma to get on the departing ship, insisting she has to save Solo with Luke Skywalker's help. Dodonna's cruiser explodes. Leia and Skywalker tow Solo's X-wing away, but a swarm of TIE/ln space superiority starfighters quickly descends on them.

The rebels jump to hyperspace, but Leia Organa, Skywalker, and Solo only have enough power to get to Corosi 7. Mothma calls Organa and tells her that rebel command has been decimated, and because of this, she is now a general, Skywalker a commander, and Solo a colonel. The group struggles to figure out how to find Chewbacca and the Millennium Falcon, until Solo has an idea.

Aboard a Star Destroyer, Emperor Palpatine tells Darth Vader that he has failed. Vader explains that they lost over half their cruisers and 90% of their fighters, to which the Emperor replies that the outcome has been satisfactory. Later on Nar Shaddaa, Solo makes a deal with Sana Starros, revealing that he and his friends are the cargo.
