Plot summary

Confrontation on K43

On K43, Han Solo, Leia, and Dar Champion arrive in a shuttle, successfully luring a massive Star Destroyer to the planet. However, they cannot get a signal from their friends on the surface. On the ground, Chewbacca battles Darth Vader, taking a hit from his lightsaber before throwing the Sith Lord into a chasm. Vader, unharmed, retaliates by throwing hot lava at Chewbacca, who narrowly escapes. Nearby, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber still will not work, so he throws a large rock, causing a landslide that forces Vader to defend himself. Vader uses the Force to choke Luke, who is then carried to safety by Chewbacca as stormtroopers open fire.

Han and Leia arrive, driving off the stormtroopers. Leia fires on Vader, who is experiencing issues. It is explained that the rock people's electric pulse disrupted everything with circuits, injuring Vader and creating a rare opportunity. The rebels charge, but Vader, despite his injuries, pushes them back with a violent Force wave. Stormtroopers help Vader to a nearby, operational shuttle. Vader, in a fit of rage, kills an Imperial Major who suggests they flee, declaring, "Those with power do not run," before smashing an electric panel to create a massive electrical storm.

C-3PO, communicating with the rock people, deduces that Vader's blast not only revived all mechanical devices, but also reactivated the detonators. The rebels race back to their shuttle. A massive rock creature arrives, carrying the Millennium Falcon, and hands it back to Han and Chewbacca. The rock creatures, however, refuse to leave, stating they are stronger than "flesh beings." Leia and Dar depart in the shuttle, while Han, Chewbacca, and Luke leave in the Falcon and X-wing, respectively. A rock creature grabs C-3PO before he can leave with the others.

A daring escape and new beginnings

As Luke reaches his X-Wing, he is confronted by Vader. Luke's lightsaber finally ignites, but the ground shakes violently. He scrambles into his ship, which breaks off from the ground and flies away. The rebels in space see a giant rock creature emerge from inside the planet's core. They also see Boss Carpo's ship arrive; Dar reveals he sent a fake message to Carpo, telling him the rebels and Imperials had a deal to take him out. The Falcon is suddenly under fire from both the Carpo ship and the Star Destroyer. The giant rock creature, communicating with C-3PO, offers to help. It drops the detonators on the Star Destroyer and then punches it, causing massive damage. Boss Carpo's ship crashes into the Star Destroyer, resulting in a huge explosion.

Vader, floating in space, Force-pulls his shuttle to his location. Admiral Ozzel orders the Star Destroyer to jump to lightspeed to escape the crash. As Luke's X-Wing develops an air leak, Warba and the Sergia crew arrive to help him. The rock creatures say their goodbyes to C-3PO. The rebel fleet then approaches Hoth. The rebels reflect on their adventure, while Vader, having lost another battle, stares out into space, pondering his next move.
