Mission to Yavin 4

In 3756 BBY, the Human Jedi Master Barel Ovair and his Nautolan Padawan, Eison Gynt, set out on a mission to the fourth moon of the planet Yavin. The two had spent much time together exploring locations throughout the galaxy that were strong in the Force, and planned to search the Massassi Temples on Yavin 4 and delve into the tomb of the ancient Sith Lord Naga Sadow. Ovair, however, was in actuality a servant of the exiled Sith Empire, on a mission to destroy the spirits of long-dead Sith who might potentially challenge the power of the Sith Emperor upon his return to known space.

After arriving on the moon, Ovair and Gynt were attacked by Sadow's surviving Massassi warriors. Defeated, they were forced into the heart of Sadow's tomb, where they were overcome by the Sith Lord's still-lingering dark energies. Ovair was unable to accomplish his objective, and so abandoned Gynt there. Weeks later he returned to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, claiming Gynt had been killed. The young Nautolan had in fact survived, only to be possessed by Sadow's spirit and killed years later by Ovair. (Read more…)

Jace Malcom

Jace Malcom was a Human male Republic trooper, who served in the Special Forces Division of the Republic Military during the Great Galactic War and Cold War, and as the military's Supreme Commander during the Galactic War. Malcom grew up on the Mid Rim world of Barcaria, but left at a young age to join the Galactic Republic's defense forces. By 3681 BBY, he was serving as a corporal aboard a Jedi-run space station in orbit above Korriban. In that year, the reconstituted Sith Empire returned to known space to reclaim their lost territory and exact revenge upon the Republic. During these early days of the ensuing Great Galactic War, the Empire launched a massive strike against the Jedi and Republic forces at Korriban in an effort to retake the world which had once been their holy capital. Malcom was caught in the battle, but managed to escape the onslaught alongside Jedi Padawan Satele Shan and incarcerated smuggler, Captain Nico Okarr.

The war continued on for nearly three decades, during which time Malcom was inducted into the Republic Army's Special Forces and granted command of the elite infantry unit 326. Under Malcom's leadership, the unit performed highly risky raids into enemy territory and earned the moniker of "Havoc Squad." At the height of the war, the squad was stationed on the Core World of Alderaan while the bulk of the Republic Navy was elsewhere in the galaxy, combating the Sith. While he was stationed on the planet, Malcom and his troopers were swept up in the Battle of Alderaan, a massive Imperial invasion of the tranquil world. As the Sith forces led by Darth Malgus ravaged the planet, Malcom and his comrades took to the forests of Alderaan to wage a guerrilla campaign against the Imperials. When Darth Malgus turned his army toward the Alderaanian capital city, the commander and Havoc Squad positioned themselves to ambush the Sith Lord and halt his advance. In a pitched battle in the forests outside of the capital, Havoc Squad routed the Imperial Army and Malcom fought and defeated Malgus himself with the aid of then-Jedi Knight Satele Shan.

Malcom's leadership during the battle earned him and Havoc Squad great prestige throughout the Republic and inspired continued resilience against the Sith. This fame attracted the attention of Colonel Elin Garza, with whom Malcom helped found a new, fully-fledged and independent Special Forces Division. Around the same time, Malcom fostered a secret relationship with Shan that ultimately culminated in a tense breakup. However, before their romantic relationship died, Malcom and Shan sired a son, Theron Shan. Malcom later received a promotion to the rank of colonel.

Following the end of the war and the implementation of a controversial peace agreement, Malcom was asked to return to Alderaan to oversee the efforts of Republic combatants in the bloody civil war that had engulfed the planet. As the Strategic Advisor to Alderaan for the Republic Army, Malcom monitored troop deployments and tactical plans and maintained the military alliance between the Republic's armed forces and the noble House Organa. Under his supervision, the despotic King Bouris Ulgo was deposed and the Organas solidified their advantage in the war over the Imperial-backed House Thul. Later in the war, Malcom was promoted to Supreme Commander of the Republic Military, during which time he aided then-Grand Master Satele Shan and Jedi Master Gnost-Dural in a battle against Darth Karrid and a renewed Sith offensive. Battle of Alderaan

The Battle of Alderaan was a major conflict between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire that occurred at the height of the Great Galactic War. The peaceful and verdant Core World of Alderaan was a Republic member world, and widely viewed as an embodiment of the ideals and principals upon which the Republic was founded. It was that reputation that made it a military target for the Sith Empire. As the Great Galactic War dragged on elsewhere in the galaxy, the Sith formulated a plan to crush Republic morale by invading Alderaan and shattering its serenity. The incursion was led by the Sith Lord Darth Malgus, who planned for it to coincide with a diversionary feint that would pull the ships of the Republic Navy far from Alderaan. As the planet sat undefended by the Republic fleet, it was beset by a massive Sith invasion force that quickly obliterated local defense forces and took the Royal House of Alderaan (Great Galactic War)|royal family of Alderaan hostage.

Unknown to the Sith forces, the Republic had stationed groups of Republic troopers across the planet prior to the invasion. These troopers took to the mountains and forests of Alderaan during the Sith attack and proceeded to wage a guerrilla war against the enemy. As Darth Malgus led his forces in a march toward the planet's capital city, he was ambushed by the troopers of Republic Special Forces' Havoc Squad. Much of the squad was killed during the battle, but with the timely arrival of a Jedi to aid the men of Havoc Squad, Malgus and his Sith forces were routed. Following the skirmish outside the city, the Republic fleet returned from the diversionary feint to drive the Empire off of Alderaan. The battle was a major victory for the Republic, but had grave consequences for the future of Alderaan. Although historically a voice for peace, the Alderaanian government became a vocal proponent of harsh military actions against the Empire in the aftermath of the battle. This new stance came into conflict with the peace established by the Treaty of Coruscant in 3653 BBY, which ultimately led to a bloody planetary civil war. (Read more…)

Berooken

Berooken was a male Mon Calamari politician who served as the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the latter days of the Great Galactic War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. Berooken was in office in 3653 BBY, when the Empire's Dark Council proposed that the two governments convene to discuss the possibility of a peace agreement after nearly three decades of war. The Galactic Senate agreed to the call for peace, but the Chancellor chose not to attend the peace summit on Alderaan on the advice of the High Council of the Jedi Order. In the Chancellor's place, Berooken sent the Cerean Senator Paran Am-Ris to represent the Republic Senate in the conference.

The summit ultimately turned out to be nothing more than a diversion crafted by the Sith in order to draw attention away from their true target—the Republic's capital world of Coruscant. While the delegates from the two galactic superpowers began their deliberations on Alderaan, the Empire attacked the capital in a massive invasion that came to be known as the Sacking of Coruscant. During the attack, the leader of the Sith force, Darth Angral, breached the Senate Tower and killed Supreme Chancellor Berooken. As a result of the Sacking of Coruscant and Berooken's death, Senator Am-Ris was forced to agree to the Sith-authored Treaty of Coruscant, which firmly placed the Republic as the war's loser. Sith magic

Traditionally, Sith magic, also known as Sith sorcery, was an arcane expression of Force ability first developed and practiced by the original Sith species through which they manipulated the power of the dark side. The very name of the Sith was adopted by the Dark Jedi Exiles of the Hundred-Year Darkness, who combined Sith mysticism with their own experiments into dark side power to create even more strange rituals and alchemical sciences. Sith magic, while as much a part of the dark side as endowments like Force lightning, was accessible only to those Force-sensitives who possessed an intrinsic relationship with the dark side. Through the recitation of spells, execution of hand gestures, and or the handling of various artifacts, darksiders were able to channel the raw power of the Force's malignant side to warp minds, alter the environment, and obliterate whatever obstacles stood in their way. Males who achieved mastery were known as Sith sorcerers, mages, magicians, or wizards, while females who practiced Sith sorcery were referred to as Sith sorceresses or witches.

Sith magic was prevalent among the citizens of the ancient Sith Empire, and its disciplines were adhered to throughout the span of galactic history, predating even the inception of the longstanding Galactic Republic. Its effectiveness in battle was realized during the Great Hyperspace War of 5000 BBY, up to and beyond the Great Sith War a thousand years later. Lords and Inquisitors of the reconstituted Sith Empire were armed with Sith magic during the Great Galactic War of 3681 BBY. Proponents of Sith magic revived its practice briefly during the New Sith Wars, but it became something of an oddity following the reformation of the Republic in 1000 BBY. By then, a lone Sith apprentice was its only active student. Still, the allure of Sith magic survived through the fall of the Republic in 19 BBY and the subsequent Galactic Civil War, and curious Force-sensitives learned to harness its power from obscure temples on long-forgotten planets and moons. Darth Malak

Darth Malak was a Human male who reigned as a Dark Lord of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War. Before becoming a Sith Lord, Alek was born on the planet Quelii in the Outer Rim Territories. When the Mandalorians attacked his homeworld, he escaped the battle and fled to the Galactic Republic, whose immigration records assigned the name of his home village as his surname. He was trained in the ways of the Force by the Jedi Order, and was nicknamed Squint by his fellow Jedi, before eventually becoming a Jedi Knight. During the Mandalorian Wars, Alek, Revan—his closest friend and fellow Jedi Knight—and their faction of Jedi disobeyed the Jedi Council and aided the Republic's war effort through scouting missions in the Outer Rim. He befriended the Jedi Padawan Zayne Carrick and, after taking the name "Malak" in order to avoid an arrest warrant issued by the Council, assisted Carrick in defeating the secretive Jedi Covenant. As the war progressed, Malak became a military general and gained a reputation as a headstrong warrior who recklessly charged into danger. Malak and Revan ultimately defeated the Mandalorians in the war's final battle at Malachor V, and pursued the surviving Mandalorians into the Unknown Regions. However, the two Jedi encountered the Sith Emperor of the reconstituted remnants of the ancient Sith Empire and fell to the dark side of the Force under his tutelage, becoming Sith Lords.

The newly christened Darth Malak and Darth Revan were given a mission by the Sith Emperor to find the Star Forge, an ancient Rakatan space station, which would help to destroy the Jedi Order and the Republic. Malak helped Revan track down the Star Maps that led to the Star Forge and, after finding the superweapon above Rakata Prime, Revan assumed the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith, with Malak becoming his Sith apprentice. A year after their disappearance from known Republic space, the two founded their own Sith Empire, returned to the Republic, and declared war, determined to end the Jedi Order's supposed tyranny. At one point during the conflict that became known as the Jedi Civil War, Malak's entire jaw was removed by a lightsaber strike from Darth Revan, forcing him to wear a large metal prosthesis. A short time later, after the Jedi dispatched a strike team to capture Revan and Malak, the latter betrayed his Sith Master, ordering the guns of his flagship to fire on Revan's vessel. Convinced that his Master had died, Malak usurped Revan's mantle of Dark Lord and ruled the Empire unchallenged, brutally conquering territory after territory and taking the fallen Jedi Darth Bandon as his Shadow Hand.

It was not long until Malak was proven wrong about his beliefs regarding Revan's death. The following year, after destroying the planet Taris and razing the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, Malak intercepted Jedi Knight Bastila Shan and an amnesiac Revan, whose memories as the Dark Lord had been replaced with an identity loyal to the Republic by the Jedi Council. After Malak revealed to Revan his former identity as the Dark Lord, Shan allowed herself to be captured by Malak so that Revan could escape. Malak corrupted Shan, whom he had once considered a threat, and convinced her to become his apprentice, replacing Darth Bandon, whom Revan and his companions had previously killed. Now assisted by Shan's battle meditation, Malak considered his Sith Empire to be invincible. However, when the Republic fleet attacked the Star Forge, Revan—a redeemed and retrained Jedi—boarded the ancient superweapon and confronted Malak in a lightsaber duel that resulted in the Dark Lord's death. With that, Malak's reign as the Dark Lord ended, and the Republic eventually emerged victorious from the Jedi Civil War. (Read more…)

Odile Vaiken

Odile Vaiken was a Human male alive during the Great Hyperspace War and its aftermath. Vaiken grew up within the borders of the original Sith Empire and was, like other citizens, a loyal servant of his Sith overlords. The Great Hyperspace War between the Empire and the Galactic Republic ended badly for the Sith, and their subjects were forced to flee their homes to escape retribution from enemy forces. The young Vaiken joined his fellow countrymen in a massive exodus from their decimated capital of Korriban, led by a reclusive Sith Lord. After wandering the stars for twenty years, the migrant fleet that carried the Sith expatriates happened upon Dromund Kaas, a forgotten Sith colony world.

After the Sith Lord leading the exodus chose Dromund Kaas to be their new homeworld and proclaimed himself the new Emperor of his people, Vaiken dedicated himself to helping build the new Imperial society. Vaiken was instrumental in establishing order among the Empire's non-Force-sensitive subjects through the creation of the new Imperial Military, which comprised an expertly-trained army and a technologically advanced navy. Vaiken's contributions to the ascendant government earned him the recognition of the Emperor and the governing Dark Council, who named him the first Grand Moff of the Empire. Vaiken was later killed during a campaign to defeat an alien species in deep space, but his military legacy remained intact for over a millennium. (Read more…)

Jura Ostrogoth

Jura Ostrogoth was a Human male who served the Sith Order as an acolyte during the period of strife that followed the Great Galactic War. Ostrogoth hailed from the Inner Rim planet of Chazwa, but spent much of his teenage life on the frozen Sith academy planet Odacer-Faustin, studying to become a warrior and leader of the Sith Empire. Sith training was brutal and unforgiving, especially within the Odacer-Faustin Sith academy, overseen by the reclusive Sith Lord Darth Scabrous. During the early days of his instruction, Ostrogoth was assaulted and humiliated by the Sith apprentice Mannock T'sank, but was saved by Zabrak acolyte Scopique. Scopique's act of compassion was, in truth, merely a ploy to gain leverage over Ostrogoth, which he later used to manipulate the Human into infiltrating Darth Scabrous's tower. Rumors fostered by the students on Odacer-Faustin held that Darth Scabrous had been abducting Sith teenagers and either subjecting them to heinous experiments or grooming them to be his eventual successor. Scopique wished to know the truth, and so forced Ostrogoth to enter the tower from which Lord Scabrous oversaw the academy and report back.

Ostrogoth found that Scabrous had indeed been performing experiments within his keep—the Sith Lord was attempting to create an elixir that would extend his life indefinitely. The young Sith discovered that Scabrous's attempts were unsuccessful, and he instead created nothing more than a virus that destroyed living flesh and turned the dead into cannibalistic monstrosities. Ostrogoth was killed when Scabrous was forced to throw the first of his creations—the recently deceased Wim Nickter—out of the window of his tower. Ostrogoth was in the trajectory of the reanimated Nickter's body, and flew out the window beside it. The young man died after falling over one hundred meters to the ground below. Nickter's body, which was still functioning under the influence of the virus despite the massive fall, immediately began to feast on what remained of Jura Ostrogoth. In defiance of its death and subsequent mutilation, Ostrogoth's body was reanimated as a flesh-eating monster under the will of Scabrous's disease. The Ostrogoth creature immediately traveled to the academy dormitory, where it ambushed and infected Scopique. The Zabrak was able to decapitate Ostrogoth before he was similarly transformed into an undead beast. (Read more…)

Sacking of Coruscant

The Sacking of Coruscant, also known as the Battle of Coruscant, occurred at the end of the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire. Centuries after the supposed destruction of the original Empire, a surviving faction of the Sith returned from the Unknown Regions and waged a massive war against the Republic. After decades of fighting, the Republic was overwhelmed and inundated both economically and militarily, while the Empire continued to gain ground. At what seemed to be the height of their campaign, the Sith surprised the galaxy and extended an offer of peace to the Republic. Although cautious of the Empire's intentions, the Galactic Senate of the Republic accepted the much-needed reprieve. Unbeknownst to the Republic, the Sith had no intention of allowing the war to come to a peaceful conclusion.

While Republic and Imperial delegations convened on Alderaan for treaty negotiations, the Imperial-employed Mandalorian Shae Vizla traveled to the Republic capital world of Coruscant and deactivated the planet's defense grid. This allowed for the Sith Lord Darth Malgus to enter the Jedi Temple alongside a group of fifty Sith Warriors and lay siege to the ancient edifice. The Warriors had a violent altercation with the Temple's Jedi defenders, led by Master Ven Zallow, but were victorious in their mission. With the Jedi defeated, a fleet of Sith warships under the command of the Lord Darth Angral descended upon the planet, bombarding the cityscape and deploying Imperial soldiers and warriors to the surface. Although the surviving members of the Jedi Order and the Republic Special Forces Division attempted to defend their capital, the Sith forces overwhelmed them. By the time the fighting had ended, the Jedi Temple had been reduced to rubble, six members of the Jedi High Council had been killed, and Lord Angral had assassinated the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. All communications into and out of Coruscant were locked down, leaving the rest of the galaxy to guess at the carnage that was unfolding on the surface.

For two days, the Empire blockaded Coruscant and occupied the world, ruling it under martial law. The Coruscanti people were prohibited from leaving the world, and travel across planet was heavily restricted. Darth Angral became the provisional governor of Coruscant, while his subordinate, Darth Malgus, oversaw the orbital security. During this time, the Sith looted the world, executed Republic senators, and kidnapped a number of locals. On the second day of the occupation, renegade Jedi Knight Aryn Leneer targeted Malgus for his hand in the destruction of the Jedi Temple. Her hunt led to a number of breaches in the security of the Sith quarantine force, but the Imperial hold over Coruscant remained. It was estimated by both Sith and Jedi that the death toll lay somewhere between the tens of thousands and one hundred thousand.

With the Republic's capital securely in their grip, the Empire was able to take command of the negotiations on Alderaan. After the two-day long occupation and the destruction of much of Galactic City, the Republic delegation was forced to sign the controversial Treaty of Coruscant. Although it brought an end to the Great Galactic War and returned the capital to its original occupants, the treaty's highly biased mandates set the stage for the Cold War and forced the Republic into a debilitating position of weakness within the galaxy. As such, reconstruction of Coruscant was delayed and then drawn out for several years, with residents in the poorer areas of the planet being forced to make a living in the ruin left behind by the Sith. The planet's lower levels fell under gang control, and were largely ignored by the Republic government, which was headquartered on the very same world. (Read more…)

Battle of Korriban

The Battle of Korriban was a conflict that occurred in the early days of the Great Galactic War between the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, during which the Outer Rim planet Korriban fell back into the control of the Sith. Korriban was the ancestral homeworld of the Sith Empire, and had been a holy site and training ground for adherents to the Sith religion since its inception. Over one thousand years after the Sith's defeat in the Great Hyperspace War and their subsequent exile from Korriban, the dark side users returned to known space in the year 3681 BBY and launched a brutal campaign for dominance in the galaxy's Tingel Arm region. The attack prompted the Republic, which was severely under-prepared for such an assault, to rally its naval forces and send them into the Tingel Arm theater. The effort pulled defense vessels away from other planets, including Korriban, which was left without any substantive military defenses. A vigil over the world was maintained by the Jedi Order alongside a small number of Republic troopers, but that proved to be ineffective against the full force of the Sith naval fleet.

With an armada of over thirty Harrower-class dreadnaughts, the Sith Empire invaded the Horuset system and engaged the small number of Jedi and Republic defenders in orbit over Korriban. Aboard a Republic space station, Jedi Padawan Satele Shan, Master Kao Cen Darach, and several Republic troopers fought in vain against boarding Sith soldiers and Imperial battle droids. During their attempts to escape Korriban and warn the Republic of the Empire's return, the Jedi and troopers were met by the Sith Lord Vindican and his apprentice, Malgus. Although Shan and her Master held the two off for a time, the younger Jedi was eventually forced to flee and leave Darach behind to fight alone. While she and one of the troopers escaped the station with the assistance of an incarcerated smuggler, Nico Okarr, Master Darach remained aboard and continued to battle the avenging Sith. The Zabrak Jedi was killed by Malgus during the duel and the remaining Republic and Jedi forces were annihilated, clearing a path for the Sith to return to their homeland. After a thousand years of exile from the holy planet, the Empire retook Korriban and re-established it as a training ground, wherein students studied to continue the war with the Republic. Despite Shan's survival, the recapture was so efficiently and surprisingly performed that an extended period of time passed before the Jedi Council even learned of Korriban's loss. (Read more…)

Blockade of the Rimma Trade Route

In the year 3681 BBY, the Rimma Trade Route was blockaded by the Sith Empire in an attempt to strangle the resources of the Galactic Republic. The action was one of the earliest conflicts of the Great Galactic War, and occurred shortly after the Empire's return to the known galaxy. As part of the Sith Emperor's plan to secure the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories, the Rimma super-hyperroute was locked down, which resulted in further Republic losses and interior political turmoil. While Republic forces in the Outer Rim suffered from a lack of supplies and reinforcements—particularly those in the embattled Minos Cluster—military leaders organized efforts to retake the Rimma Trade Route. After the Republic Army's first unsuccessful counterattack, the blockade was ended in 3680 BBY, when a fleet of the Republic Navy regrouped in the Seswenna sector and launched a second assault. Minos Cluster Campaign

The Minos Cluster Campaign was a lengthy conflict during the Great Galactic War between the the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. The Campaign began in 3681 BBY, when the Sith Empire returned to the known galaxy from relative exile in the Unknown Regions and launched an invasion of the Minos Cluster as part of its massive onslaught against the Republic. The first leg of the Great War was focused in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories, where the Republic suffered from severe under-preparedness and the Empire enjoyed the advantage of surprise. Capitalizing on these factors, the Sith swarmed into the Minos star cluster, hoping to seize control of the rich resources of the Minos worlds and add them to the Empire's already impressive war machine. The Republic Navy, still scattered after a disastrous effort to retake the Tingel Arm and directionless due to political uncertainty on the capital of Coruscant, was helpless to resist, leaving the star cluster undefended. However, before the Empire could secure their grip on the region, the Jedi Order decided to take a proactive stance against the aggression of the Sith and dispatch numerous Jedi Knights and Masters to guard the worlds of the Minos territories.

The Empire was initially highly successful in their endeavor, and the loss of the Minos Cluster and the high volume of resources it contained was a significant blow to the Republic, leading to a disastrous emergency defense prioritization session of the Republic Senate and riots on Coruscant. Nevertheless, the Jedi continued to fight on Eliad, Karideph, and other Minos worlds, and were eventually joined by the troopers of the Republic Special Forces Division in what became one of the longest conflicts of the war. Under the leadership of Jedi Master Orgus Din and Lieutenant Harron Tavus, the Republic maintained its battle against the Empire in the region until 3653 BBY, when the Empire's ruling Dark Council approached the Republic Senate with an offer of peace. Although the Republic's leadership and the Jedi High Council were hesitant to accept the offer, the Empire began minimizing its offensive activities in the Minos Cluster as a show of good faith. The invasion officially came to an end shortly before the peace conference on Alderaan, which the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Berooken took as a good omen for the prospect of peace. (Read more…)

Cormun (Imperial Army)

Cormun was a Human male who served the Sith Empire as a sergeant in the Imperial Army during the Cold War, a period of unrest between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. Around the year 3641 BBY, he was part of the Korriban regiment's Fifth Infantry company and was stationed on the planet Korriban near the Sith Academy on that world. During his time there, Cormun acquired substantial knowledge about the recent events at the Sith Academy. He treated Sith respectfully, and viewed those who could use the Force as much more powerful than normal individuals. Despite his respect for the Sith, the Sergeant would not allow his troops' abilities to be questioned without protest.

While he was stationed on Korriban, Cormun was tasked with eliminating k'lor'slugs in the tomb of the Sith Lord Ajunta Pall. During the mission, Cormun made the decision to target the k'lor'slug egg chambers with explosives in order to negate the large worm-like creatures' fast rate of reproduction, which had foiled previous attempts at extermination. However, when his troops placed the explosives, a large number of k'lor'slugs attacked his team wildly and killed three entire squads of his troopers. After losing these troops, which comprised most of his team, Cormun retreated and took up position at one of the tomb entrances with his remaining forces. The Sergeant realized that he needed someone skilled in using the Force to help him with the tomb's k'lor'slug infestation. He eventually enlisted the aid of a Sith Acolyte from the Academy, who went to the k'lor'slug egg chambers and successfully detonated the explosives. (Read more…)

Battle of the Forge

In 3643 BBY, near the end of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a battle occurred on the planet Tython between the forces of the Nautolan Dark Jedi Bengel Morr and a Jedi Padawan. Morr, the former Padawan of Jedi Master Orgus Din, had gone missing after the Sacking of Coruscant and the destruction of the original Jedi Temple by the Sith Empire ten years earlier. The Jedi had recently discovered that the Nautolan had gone insane and was marshaling Tython's native Flesh Raiders against the Jedi Order in an attempt to destroy them.

During the conflict between the Raiders and Jedi, Morr approached the Pilgrims of Kalikori village and struck a deal with them—if they delivered Morr's former Master to him, he would spare the settlement from further harm. However, he reneged on their deal almost immediately upon receiving the captured Jedi Master and demanded the life of Din's current Padawan as well, forcing the villagers to try to kill the young Jedi. The village's Matriarch Ranna Tao'Ven objected, and the Padawan was able to convince the villagers to leave peacefully. Learning from Tao'Ven that Morr had taken Din to the location of the machine known as the Forge in the ruins of an ancient city, the Padawan and the astromech droid T7-O1 raced through the Flesh Raider–controlled territory around the city in an attempt to rescue Din.

There, before the ancient machine used by the apprentices of the Jedi Order to craft their lightsabers, Din's apprentices of the past and present faced off. Despite Morr's experience, he and his Flesh Raider guards were defeated by the younger Padawan and T7-O1. The duo was able to subdue the Dark Jedi and awaken the unconscious Master Din. Taking Morr back to Tython's Jedi Temple, Din gave his apprentice the components for a lightsaber and urged the Padawan to construct the weapon as a final rite of passage. However, the Jedi's use of the Forge awoke a sleeping jurgoran, and the apprentice was forced to kill the enraged creature before returning to the Jedi Temple. For the Padawan's bravery and actions during the crisis, the apprentice was elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight and sent to the Republic capital, Coruscant, on a new assignment. (Read more…)

Flesh Raider uprising

Near the end of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire, the native Flesh Raiders of the planet Tython began to wage war against the Jedi Order and the Pilgrims of Kalikori village. Under the command of the Nautolan Dark Jedi Bengel Morr, the Flesh Raiders became more bold in their attacks against the Jedi, who had returned to their Order's ancestral homeworld in the aftermath of the Sacking of Coruscant and the end of the Great Galactic War. Morr, who had been driven insane by the devastation during the fall of the Jedi Temple, blamed the Jedi Order for the defeat and turned to the dark side, taking on the Human Callef as his apprentice and plotting the destruction of the Order.

In 3643 BBY, Morr set his plans in motion by sending Callef and a Flesh Raider invasion force against the Jedi outpost in the Tythonian Gnarls region. However, Callef was defeated and killed by a young Jedi initiate, who was then taken on as an apprentice by the Human Jedi Master Orgus Din, Morr's former teacher. Together with Din and the astromech droid T7-O1, the apprentice learned of Morr's survival and vendetta against the Order during the course of several missions for both the Jedi and the Twi'lek settlers of Kalikori. Upon discovering that Morr had organized the natives into an army and was training some of them as Force Adepts, the Jedi moved to eliminate the Flesh Raider command base and several other camps in an attempt to put a stop to Morr's planned assault on the Order.

However, Din and his apprentice were betrayed by the villagers when Morr made a deal with the Twi'leks, trading protection from the Flesh Raiders in exchange for the life of his former Master and Din's new Padawan. While Morr took his unconscious mentor to the ancient machine known as the Forge, the villagers attempted to kill Din's apprentice and T7-O1 as part of an altered deal, but the Padawan managed to escape without bloodshed and pursued Morr through the Tythan wilderness. Fighting through the Flesh Raider army occupying the ruins of an ancient city, the Padawan and T7-O1 found Morr waiting before the Forge. In a fierce duel, the young apprentice defeated the deranged Morr and rescued Din from his former student. For the Padawan's bravery and actions, Din ordered his apprentice to construct a lightsaber and return to the Jedi Temple, where Morr was healed of his insanity and the apprentice elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight. Along with T7-O1, the Knight's first assignment soon spiraled into war as the Sith Lord Darth Angral launched a campaign against the Republic, and the young Jedi played a pivotal role in the conflict by ultimately defeating the Sith in a battle above Tython. Duel in the Jedi Temple ruins

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Jedi Master Orgus Din's former apprentice and the Padawan Kira Carsen dueled the Sith Lord Tarnis in the ruins of the Jedi Temple. In 3643 BBY, during a mission to rescue the Republic scientist "Doctor Eli Tarnis" from the Black Sun criminal syndicate, Din's fomer student—now a Jedi Knight—learned that the scientist was in fact a Sith Lord, and that he had stolen the Planet Prison superweapon in an attempt to unleash it upon the Republic capital of Coruscant.

Having located the Planet Prison's heat signature in the ruins of the Jedi Temple, the Knight and Kira Carsen raced through the planet's industrial sector and fought their way through the Imperial-occupied Temple until they reached the Council Chamber. There, in front of a live transmission to Tarnis' father Darth Angral and Angral's three Sith apprentices, the Knight and Carsen battled the traitorous Sith scientist and defeated him. Having watched the Knight cut down his son in front of him, Angral declared an unending war of vengeance upon the young Jedi and the Order as a whole, sparking the Desolator crisis. Using information Tarnis had transmitted to them, Angral's apprentices would seize control of the Republic's superweapon projects as part of their master's crusade against the killer of Tarnis, a conflict that would only end when the Knight defeated Angral aboard the warship Oppressor above Tython. Tarnis (Sith Lord)

Tarnis was a Human male Sith Lord of the resurgent Empire who lived during the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War with the Republic. The son of the legendary Darth Angral, Tarnis was trained by his father's apprentice Lord Praven to the rank of Sith Lord before embarking on an undercover assignment not long after the Treaty of Coruscant ended the Great Galactic War. Posing as the Republic scientist Eli Tarnis, he infiltrated the Republic's superweapon projects and quickly became the head of the design team for the Planet Prison weapon on the Republic's capital Coruscant. While his initial purpose was to gather information from inside the Republic, Tarnis believed his cover was in danger in 3643 BBY when the Jedi Master Bela Kiwiiks arrived on Coruscant to investigate a "dark presence" the Jedi Council had sensed on the capital. He made his move and attempted to steal the Planet Prison with the help of the criminal organizations known as the Migrant Merchants' Guild and Black Sun.

Staging his own kidnapping from the Senate Building after hiring a thief to steal the design files for the Planet Prison, Tarnis fled to the territory of the paramilitary Justicars' Brigade, but was pursued by a young Jedi Knight. Tarnis' true identity was uncovered by the Jedi Knight, working with the Republic Strategic Information Service, the Coruscant Security Force, and the Padawan Kira Carsen, and the Sith was followed to the ruins of the Jedi Temple, where the Knight and Carsen faced the Sith Lord in a duel in order to stop him from using the Planet Prison against Coruscant itself. Tarnis' death was witnessed via hologram by his father, who declared everlasting vengeance upon his son's killer and embarked on a crusade to gain revenge upon the Jedi. (Read more…)

Fideltin Rusk

Fideltin Rusk was a Chagrian male who served the Galactic Republic as a soldier in the Republic Military during the Great Galactic War, the Cold War, and the Galactic War with the resurgent Sith Empire. Born in 3680 BBY and raised by a colony of pacifists on Mindor, the Chagrian enlisted in the military as soon as possible and became devoted to defending those who could not defend themselves. He soon gained a reputation as a determined and skilled commander with years of experience against the Empire, criminals, and pirates across a wide range of battlefields. He was considered a pariah by his fellows because of his belief that soldiers were meant to be used regardless of the consequences.

During the tense Cold War with the Sith Empire, Sergeant Rusk was stationed with the 301st Infantry Division on the ice planet of Hoth, where he battled both the Empire and the White Maw pirate organization. Around 3642 BBY, Rusk's unit was assigned to aid the Nautolan Jedi Leeha Narezz and the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython in their mission to recover the plans for the Sith Emperor's space station. Together with the two Knights, Rusk and his squad fought both pirates and Imperials across the world's icy surface as they searched for the plans, and afterward the Sergeant was assigned to the Hero's crew on a permanent assignment. Rusk accompanied the Knight and the other members of the crew to the Emperor's station, but they were imprisoned for months when the Hero and the other members of the Jedi strike team were turned to the dark side and trained as Sith.

After the Emperor's Wrath, Lord Scourge, betrayed his Master to free the Hero and crew from the station, the Wrath revealed that the Emperor planned to consume all life in the galaxy as part of a dark ritual and joined the Jedi's crew in an effort to stop him. As the galaxy became consumed in renewed war, Rusk accompanied the Hero and the rest of the crew as they traveled to the planets Belsavis, Voss, and Corellia in order to stop the Emperor's agents from committing genocide and rescued the strike team members from their enemy's control. In a final showdown, Rusk and the rest of the crew fought the forces of the Empire on the Imperial capital of Dromund Kaas while the Hero and the astromech droid T7-O1 faced and defeated the Emperor in battle. Their mission completed, the six were awarded the prestigious Cross of Glory by Grand Master Satele Shan, and Rusk continued to travel the galaxy with the group and aid those in need during the conflict. Mission to Coruscant (Desolator crisis)

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a young Jedi Knight—the former apprentice of Jedi Master Orgus Din—was sent on a mission to the Republic capital of Coruscant to investigate a dark presence there. Accompanied by the astromech droid T7-O1, who had helped the young Jedi put a stop to the recent Flesh Raider uprising on the Jedi Order's homeworld of Tython, the Knight worked with the Republic Strategic Information Service and the Coruscant Security Force to stop the Sith Lord Tarnis from activating the Planet Prison superweapon.

After a gang of thieves stole the design files for the Planet Prison from a military warehouse on Coruscant, the Strategic Information Service tracked the thieves back to the criminal organization known as the Migrant Merchants' Guild. The newly-arrived Jedi Knight and T7-O1 were immediately sent to recover the files, but Doctor Eli Tarnis—the Planet Prison's designer and secretly a Sith Lord who had been undercover as a Republic scientist—orchestrated his own kidnapping by his allies in the Black Sun criminal syndicate so that he could proceed with his plans.

Chasing the kidnappers to the Coruscant Spaceport, the Padawan Kira Carsen and the CSF were aided by the Knight in retaking the hangar where the criminals were holed up, and discovered that the kidnappers were actually a decoy. Tarnis had retreated to the territory of the paramilitary Justicars' Brigade, but the Jedi unknowingly followed another false lead into Black Sun territory in a vain attempt to rescue the scientist. After staging a successful assault on the syndicate's headquarters with the help of an elite CSF team, the Knight failed to find Tarnis—but instead discovered Tarnis' true identity and his plans for the Planet Prison.F

As the Republic scrambled to secure their other jeopardized weapon projects from the Empire, Carsen and the Knight tracked Tarnis to the Justicar's Sector, only to find that he had murdered the Planet Prison design team and stolen the superweapon after tricking them into bringing it to him. With the help of a dying scientist, the two Jedi traced the Planet Prison's signal to the ruins of the Jedi Temple, and they confronted the Sith Lord in the depths of the damaged edifice. Tarnis, who revealed his identity as the son of the Sith Lord Darth Angral, battled the pair in a fierce duel before holograms of his father and Angral's apprentices as the Planet Prison inched ever closer to activation. To Angral's fury, the duel ended with the death of Tarnis at the hands of the Knight, and the Sith Lord would embark on a crusade of vengeance against the entire Republic in response. (Read more…)

Tingel Arm campaign

In the first year of the Great Galactic War, the Galactic Republic went on the offensive against the revitalized Sith Empire in a military campaign for the Tingel Arm. The campaign was the result of the Empire's initial foray back into the known galaxy after centuries of exile in the Unknown Regions. Following its invasion and capture of the Republic's Aparo sector, the Empire settled into the Tingel Arm, much of which had already defected to the Sith cause. Without knowledge of the defection, the Republic called upon its Navy to retake the region of space. Although they had hoped to capitalize on their alliances with the peoples of Belkadan, Sernpidal, and Ruuria in the Tingel Arm, the Republic forces instead found themselves in a battle for survival, as those worlds had already been overtaken by the Empire. Despite being reinforced with ships from the rest of the Navy, the Republic fleet was overwhelmed when the Imperial Navy arrived to aid the Empire's puppet governments on the Tingel Arm worlds. With Belkadan, Sernpidal, and Ruuria secure, the Sith were able to move their naval fleets to Korriban—their ancestral homeworld and the true target of their early campaigns. The Republic withdrew from the Tingel Arm shortly thereafter, defeated once again by the Imperial Military's blitz. (Read more…)

Invasion of Begeren

The Invasion of Begeren was a major engagement between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. Begeren, a mineral-rich world in the Outer Rim Territories, had historically belonged to the ancient Sith Empire, but after the Great Hyperspace War of 5000 BBY, the Republic claimed the planet as their own and installed a governor to oversee mining operations. In 3681 BBY, the revitalized Sith Empire emerged from hiding and initiated the Great Galactic War to reclaim their lost lands and destroy the Republic. Although the war swiftly spread across the galaxy, the Sith's first targets lay in the Outer Rim, and in 3678 BBY the Empire launched its massive invasion of Begeren in the hopes of securing the planet and ousting the entrenched Republic regime.

The Imperial Army contingent that was landed on the world consisted of 10,000 Imperial soldiers under the command of a military officer and aided by the aspiring Sith assassin, Teneb Kel. The fiercest fighting occurred just outside the Republic Governor's palace in the planetary capital, and saw the Empire's Aurek Battalion engage Republic soldiers, towering war droids, and crippling laser turrets. The Imperial Army forces were waiting on word from Kel that he had successfully infiltrated the palace and assassinated the Governor, and although Aurek Battalion was devastated by bombing runs from Republic Liberator-class starfighters, Kel continued on with his mission and successfully killed the Advozse Governor of Begeren. The conflict was one of many Imperial successes early in the war, and helped to put Teneb Kel on the path to Lordship. Begeren remained in Imperial control for many decades following the conquest. Massacre on Lenico IV

During the Great Galactic War, the Sith apprentice Exal Kressh committed a massacre on the planet of Lenico IV. Kressh, in her role as the apprentice of the Sith Emperor, served her Master as a loyal servant for many years, but was largely unaware of the true purpose behind the missions the Emperor assigned to her. That changed early in the Great War, when around 3678 BBY her Master gave her orders to locate and investigate a mysterious tribe of shamanistic Ortolans on the nearly-lifeless Outer Rim Territories world of Lenico IV.

Upon finding the primitive tribe, Kressh learned of their history and the Force rituals which they practiced to preserve the lives of tribal patriarchs and shamans. Through their teachings, the young Sith realized that the Emperor planned to replicate their rituals to preserve his own life by transplanting his consciousness into multiple new bodies. Up until then, Kressh herself was unaware that she was already being partially controlled by the Emperor in such a manner, and when the Dark Lord learned all he needed from the Ortolans to complete his own plans, he guided his apprentice to massacre the tribe. Kressh complied with the Emperor's will, but after her time on Lenico IV, she decided to rebel against her Master to end his control over her and prevent him from creating a new batch of host bodies. Sajar

Sajar was a Human male who was known as Darth Sajar during his time as a Dark Lord of the Sith and member of the ruling Dark Council of the resurgent Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. He attempted to trap and kill the Jedi Master Tol Braga on the planet Dantooine, but Braga convinced Sajar to abandon the Sith and join the Jedi Order. Sajar renounced the Empire and his seat on the Council to become Braga's Padawan, and he studied the ways of the light side of the Force throughout the rest of the war and the subsequent Cold War. However, while Sajar was stationed on Quesh in 3642 BBY to guard a military base, he was caught in an Imperial invasion. Slipping back into the grasp of the dark side after killing several prisoners and being recognized by Imperial forces, Sajar decided to die a servant of the light at the hands of the Emperor's Wrath, the Sith Emperor's personal executioner, rather than become a Sith once more. However, Sajar and the troopers of the Republic Military's 86th Infantry Division received reinforcements when Braga sent the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython to rescue Sajar. The Knight's efforts in the battle to save the base ensured that Sajar could return to the Jedi and receive redemption. (Read more…)

Moorint

Moorint was a male Twi'lek who served as the Scout Chief for the Pilgrims of Kalikori village on the planet Tython, during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. A skilled tracker, Moorint served as the lieutenant of Matriarch Sumari during the conflict with the native Flesh Raiders of Tython. When Sumari died from illness, he served Sumari's daughter, Ranna Tao'Ven, faithfully until approached by the Dark Jedi Bengel Morr, who was controlling the Flesh Raiders, with an offer of peace. After capturing the Jedi Master Orgus Din and delivering the Human to Morr's clutches as part of their agreement, Moorint and the villagers failed in their attempt to capture Din's apprentice but were forgiven by the Jedi. Moorint and his people continued to live on Tython alongside the Jedi Order as the galaxy erupted into the Galactic War. (Read more…)

Battle of Hoth (Great Galactic War)

The Battle of Hoth was a major naval battle that occurred in 3665 BBY, during the second decade of the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire. A fleet of highly advanced prototype warships, including the Republic superdreadnaught Star of Coruscant, was ambushed by the Imperial Navy after Chiss agents alerted Imperial Intelligence to the fleet's existence, and the Hoth system became the site of a massive space battle that lasted for days. While the battle began along the supposedly secret route that the Republic fleet was traveling, the conflict passed through several star systems before reaching its peak above the planet Hoth. The final stages of the battle in the Hoth system destroyed over seventy-five vessels, inflicting heavy damage on both the Imperial and Republic Navies and sending ships such as the Star of Coruscant, the Conraddas Vindicator, the Vehement Sword, and the Ambria's Fury crashing to the icy surface of Hoth.

The Battle of Hoth severely demoralized the Republic Military, breaking the momentum generated by the recent victory at Alderaan and leading to the Republic's eventual acceptance of the Treaty of Coruscant, which ended the war in 3653 BBY. Over fifteen years after the battle, the wreckage of the destroyed ships turned the planet's icy surface into a hotly contested battleground. Sith Emperor

The Sith Emperor was a Dark Lord of the Sith who reconstituted the Sith Empire after its destruction in the Great Hyperspace War and went on to rule it for over 1300 years. Born in 5113 BBY as Tenebrae, the illegitimate Sith son of Lord Dramath of Medriaas and a poor farm woman, the child who eventually became the Emperor killed his own father at the age of ten and was granted the title of Lord Vitiate by the then–Dark Lord Marka Ragnos three years later. Vitiate renamed his world Nathema and ruled it for the next century, content to exclude himself from Sith power struggles and even the Great Hyperspace War when the Galactic Republic destroyed the Empire in 5000 BBY. Summoning the remaining Sith Lords to Nathema with the promise of salvation from the Jedi, Vitiate turned on his fellows and used their strength to perform a ritual that made him immortal, at the expense of every living thing on Nathema.

Shedding his identity as Lord Vitiate, the self-proclaimed Sith Emperor led the scattered survivors of the Empire on a twenty-year odyssey into the Unknown Regions, where he established a new Sith Empire on the lost colony world of Dromund Kaas. He delved deep into the mysteries of the dark side of the Force as his people built a new civilization and expanded the Empire's domain over the next thousand years. His life prolonged through the power of the ritual, the Emperor sought a way to repeat the same feat of Sith magic on a galactic scale. However, doing so required a war—war that would destroy civilizations and fuel his power so that he could consume everything in the galaxy and become like a god. To that end, the Emperor arranged for the Mandalorian warrior culture to attack the Republic, and he turned the powerful Jedi Knights Revan and Malak to the dark side and set them upon the Republic after the Mandalorians were defeated. Yet a redeemed Revan returned to challenge the Emperor once more, and Revan's near-success and subsequent capture led the Emperor to pursue further safeguards against his death. Protecting his true body through the transference of his consciousness between host bodies known as Emperor's Voices, the Emperor launched his own war on the Republic almost three centuries later.

During the course of the war, the Emperor's efforts to create the extensions of his will known as the Children of the Emperor were nearly derailed by his traitorous apprentice Exal Kressh, but Kressh was eliminated before she could do lasting harm to her Sith Master's plans. As the war neared the end of its third decade, the captive Revan was able to mentally influence the Emperor to sue for peace with the Republic, and the resultant Treaty of Coruscant saw the Sith leader return control of the Empire to the ruling Dark Council and retreat into seclusion in order to prepare his ritual. A powerful young Jedi who would become known as the Hero of Tython drew the Emperor's attention during the subsequent Cold War, on account of the visions that centered around the Jedi Knight, but the Emperor easily crushed the Jedi's will and turned the Knight to the dark side along with the rest of a strike team sent to capture the Sith ruler. The Knight broke free of the Emperor's control months later with the help of the immortal Lord Scourge, the Emperor's personal executioner or Wrath, but the Emperor had already set his plans in motion as the galaxy spiraled into renewed war.

As the Hero raced to stop the Emperor's agents from starting the ritual, the Emperor was trapped briefly by the traitorous Sith Lord Darth Baras on the planet Voss. Nevertheless, he escaped with the help of his newest Emperor's Wrath and returned to Dromund Kaas, to activate his Children across the galaxy and prepare for a final confrontation with the Knight. While a Republic fleet invaded Dromund Kaas, the Emperor fought the Hero and the astromech droid T7-O1 in a climactic battle that ended with the Emperor's defeat. The loss of his Voice drove the Emperor into a deep slumber while the galaxy escalated further into war, prompting the Sith Lord Darth Malgus to try to seize the throne of the Empire. Emperor's Voice (Sith Empire)

The Emperor's Voice, formally addressed as the Voice of the Emperor by other Sith, was a position within the reconstituted Sith Empire that was held by the Sith Emperor's current host body. First created after a failed assassination attempt in 3950 BBY, the Voice allowed the Emperor to protect his true body while still delivering commands to his servants and carrying out his will. The Emperor utilized many Voices of different species, genders, and ages throughout his lifetime, transferring his consciousness and powers from body to body as his hosts succumbed to the ravaging effects of the dark side.

As war began to ignite again between the Empire and the Galactic Republic in 3642 BBY, the Dark Councilor Darth Baras began a coup years in the making as he attempted to take the place of the Voice and thereby become the supreme authority within the Empire. Trapping the true Voice on the planet of Voss with the aid of the dark entity Sel-Makor, Baras secured his power base and proclaimed himself to be the Voice of the Emperor before the Dark Council. However, Baras' former apprentice and the newly-appointed Emperor's Wrath killed the true Voice in order to free the Emperor's essence and struck down Baras for his transgression. The Emperor's next Voice would fall in battle with the prodigal Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython, forcing the Emperor's essence back into his true body and abolishing the post of Emperor's Voice while his essence healed. Battle of Ord Radama

No doubt Minister Shareis felt Lord Adraas, or some other dilettante, should be well armed for another needless inspection tour. Through his incompetence, the Empire is losing its hold on the systems we have only just secured. Imbeciles, all of them."

The Battle of Ord Radama was a major engagement of the Great Galactic War between the belligerent powers of the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. Ord Radama had previously been a holding of an old Sith Empire, but had fallen under the rule of the Republic since the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War. Although it was situated within the Esstran sector in the Seat of The Empire, the planet had resisted Sith conquest in the Great Galactic War until 3660 BBY, during the Rim Campaign led by the Sith Lords Darth Malgus and Darth Venemal. That year, the two led a detachment of the Imperial naval armada to the world and began an eighty-six-day–long campaign to secure it for the Empire.

The battle began with an assault on a mountaintop Republic stronghold while Imperial dreadnaughts set up a defensive perimeter in orbit above the planet. Malgus and Venemal led the successful incursion on foot and established a beachhead on the planet to plan for an advance on the capital city of Livien Magnus, which was heavily fortified against attack by Republic soldiers and artillery, as well as an all-enveloping ray shield. Fourteen days after their touchdown on the planet, the Imperials launched their siege of the capital, with Malgus planning on winning though attrition. A week into the onslaught, he and Venemal were joined by Lord Adraas, who travelled to the planet with platoons of battle droids under the orders of the Empire's ruling Dark Council. Although Republic infantry quickly destroyed Adraas's droids, the distraction allowed Malgus and Venemal to lead troops into the city and destroy the shield generator.

After using air strikes to quash native resistance, the Sith Lords occupied the capital as a headquarters while they waited to be resupplied. The situation quickly turned to crisis for the Imperials: as they ran low on war matériel, the Republic retaliated by sending a sizable fleet of corvettes and cruisers to retake the system and uproot the entrenched Imperial ground forces. Although Malgus attempted to take command of the situation in space, he quickly lost most of his fleet, and the battle became untenable. After one of the Empire's damaged Harrower-class dreadnaughts fell to the surface of Ord Radama and obliterated Livien Magnus and all of the Imperial forces stationed within—including Darth Venemal—Lord Malgus was forced to retreat from the planet aboard the dreadnaught Lindworm. Raid on the Black Sun headquarters

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Coruscant Security Force's special tactical unit and a Jedi Knight raided the headquarters of the Black Sun crime syndicate on the Republic capital of Coruscant in order to rescue the scientist Doctor Eli Tarnis. Tarnis, the creator of the Planet Prison superweapon, had been kidnapped by Black Sun and taken to the gang's territory, and the former apprentice of Jedi Master Orgus Din—now a Jedi Knight on an assignment on Coruscant— was sent to rescue the scientist. With the aid of Sergeant Nidaljo and the special tactical unit, the Knight and the astromech droid T7-O1 successfully invaded the gang's headquarters, but instead of finding Tarnis, the Jedi discovered that Tarnis was in fact a Sith Lord. Together, the CSF and the Jedi defeated the Black Sun leader Salarr, and put a major dent in the syndicate's operations, and the Knight returned to the Senate Building determined to hunt down the traitorous Tarnis. Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard, also known as the Emperor's Guard and the Dark Honor Guard, was a force of elite warriors who served the Sith Emperor of the resurgent Sith Empire as his personal protectors and enforcers. Founded sometime before 3959 BBY, the Guard was composed entirely of non-Force-sensitive individuals mentally bonded to the Emperor. As a result, each Guardsman was incredibly loyal to their master and willing to lay down their lives in the service of the Sith ruler, and even the members of the Empire's ruling Dark Council feared the Guard's prowess in combat. The warriors of the Imperial Guard were trained to use a wide variety of weapons and combat styles, making them more than a match for a single Jedi or Sith. The Guard carried out the Emperor's will on battlefields across the galaxy during the Great Galactic War, Cold War, and Galactic Warwith the Republic. (Read more…)

Defender-class light corvette

The Defender-class light corvette was produced by the Rendili Vehicle Corporation for the Jedi Order during the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Manufactured on Corellia, the Defender-class light corvette was modeled after a similar consumer corvette that was inspired by the Republic Military's Thranta-class corvette, but the Defender-class was modified specifically for use by Jedi as a mobile operations base and a capable starfighter in its own right. The corvette could be flown by a single pilot, and it was equipped heavy shielding, two sets of dual laser cannons, and missiles. The ship's interior was laid out over two decks, and a secure holoterminal, transceiver, multiple conference rooms, and a medbay were among the vessel's numerous amenities. The Defender-class saw use by the Jedi throughout the Cold War and the Galactic War with the Empire, and several of the Order's greatest heroes flew Defender-class corvettes on their adventures across the galaxy. Marcus Trant

Marcus Trant, known to his subordinates simply as the Director, was a Human male spy for the Galactic Republic who notably served as Director of the Strategic Information Service (SIS). Originally a decryption analyst employed by the SIS when it was the covert branch of the Senate Library, Trant became a field agent when the agency began to expand at the start of the Great Galactic War in 3681 BBY, with the return of the Sith Empire. Trant helped Lieutenant Elin Garza of the 45th Infantry Division fight a successful ten-month campaign on the planet Bomodon, during which they forged a close bond. However, their fledgling marriage ended in divorce less than two years later.

In the later years of the war, Trant rose through the ranks of the SIS to become Bureau Chief on Nar Shaddaa. His work caused tensions at home, and Trant's relationship with his second wife ended in divorce as well. Three years after the war's end and the beginning of the ensuing Cold War, Trant ascended to the position of Director of SIS. He did not shy away from making hard decisions, even if they caused hundreds of deaths, as long as there was a greater good that was served. As the Republic's intelligence director, Trant believed the SIS was responsible for conducting the dirty work that would protect the Republic. He initiated several operations that would lead to the Galactic War and the Republic's victory over the Sith Empire. That included a mission that resulted in the destruction of the Sith's planet-destroying Sun Razer weapon, and Operation End Game, which brought about the defeat of the Sith Empire's most powerful warship, the Ascendant Spear. Nathema

Nathema, originally known as Medriaas, was a fertile agriworld located in the Nathema system of the Outer Rim Territories' Chorlian sector during the time of the Sith Empire. The planet's Sith ruler, Lord Dramath, was deposed in 5103 BBY by his own illegitimate son Tenebrae at the age of ten, and the child received the title of Lord Vitiate and rulership of Medriaas from the reigning Dark Lord of the Sith, Marka Ragnos. Renaming the planet Nathema, Vitiate kept his world isolated from the power plays of his fellow Sith over the next century, and his isolation spared Nathema from the Great Hyperspace War in 5000 BBY. The following year, Vitiate summoned the eight thousand remaining Sith Lords to Nathema in order to save the crumbling Sith Empire, but the powerful Vitiate dominated their minds instead and proceeded to use their strength in a complex ritual of Sith magic that granted him immortality while stripping the Force from the entire planet.

Every living thing on Nathema was instantly killed by the Ritual of Nathema, and the planet became a barren wasteland devoid even of droids and technology as Vitiate, now known as the Sith Emperor, hid his past and the hyperspace routes to Nathema from his newly reconstituted Empire. Nathema's rediscovery and the revelation of what he had done to the world sparked a plot among the members of the Empire's ruling Dark Council to unseat their Emperor and prevent him from repeating the ritual, but the destruction of the conspiracy once again erased knowledge of Nathema from the mind of the Empire. However, the memory of Nathema inspired the Sith Lord Scourge to betray the Emperor over three centuries later, causing him to ally with the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython in order to stop the Emperor from repeating the ritual on a galactic scale. Praven

Praven was a male pureblood Sith who served the reconstituted Empire as a Sith Lord and later protected the Galactic Republic as a member of the Jedi Order. Trained as a Sith Warrior by Darth Angral, Praven participated in the attack on the Jedi Temple on the Republic capital of Coruscant at the end of the Great Galactic War in 3653 BBY. In the subsequent Cold War, Praven took on Angral's son Tarnis as his own apprentice and trained the Human as a Sith Lord, but Praven's training was not enough to prevent Tarnis' death at the hands of a young Jedi Knight when Tarnis attempted to unleash the Planet Prison superweapon against Coruscant near the end of the Cold War. Angral's pursuit of revenge drove him to dispatch his apprentices across the galaxy in order to steal other Republic weapons projects, and Praven acquired the Shock Drum weapon on the planet Tatooine after defeating the Jedi Master Bela Kiwiiks.

However, Praven's sense of honor caused him to disobey his Master and challenge the Jedi Knight to a duel instead of destroying Tatooine with the Shock Drum, and the Knight was able to convince the Sith Lord to abandon the dark side and become a Jedi. Finding a new purpose as a Jedi Padawan, Praven learned the ways of the light side and gladly joined the Republic Military in defending the planet Corellia during the Battle of Corellia when the Galactic War broke out with the Empire. Under the leadership of the instrument of his redemption, the Jedi Knight now known as the Hero of Tython, Praven and the rest of the Jedi forces foiled the plans of the Sith Emperor and prevented the Dark Jedi Tol Braga from killing thousands of civilians. Uphrades

Uphrades was a planet located in the Uphrades system of the Inner Rim. Originally a green and fertile agriworld during the years leading up to the Galactic War with the Sith Empire, Uphrades supplied the Republic capital planet of Coruscant with much of its food supplies. This earned it the nickname "Coruscant's Granary," until the agriworld was targeted by the Sith Lord Darth Angral during his campaign of vengeance in 3643 BBY. As part of his revenge against the Republic and the Jedi Order for the death of his son, Tarnis, Angral tested the Desolator superweapon on Uphrades and devastated its surface, killing millions and trapping the few hundred survivors on the planet by ionizing its atmosphere. Thanks to the efforts of Doctor Senessa and the crew of the Republic medical frigate Daybreaker, the survivors endured the several months it took for the ion field to dissipate, but the planet itself remained a desolate and barren world. Coruscant riots (3680 BBY)

The people had heard about wave after wave of crushing Imperial victories, and when the Jedi deployed, the tension overflowed."

In 3680 BBY, the second year of the Great Galactic War, a series of public demonstrations broke out on Coruscant, the capital world of the Galactic Republic, in response to political infighting in the Galactic Senate and the Sith Empire's invasion of the Outer Rim Territories. Tensions began to mount in Galactic City after the Empire made itself known through a series of conquests and massacres in the Outer Rim, but the situation became particularly volatile after the Republic's biting loss of the Tingel Arm and the Empire's siege of the Minos Cluster. While the Senate was mired in political gridlock over how to best respond to the assault, members of the Jedi Order moved forward with a plan to liberate the Minos worlds. Their departure, along with continued inaction from Republic leaders, sent the people of Coruscant into panic, resulting in mass demonstrations consisting of political gatherings, anti-war rallies, and violent riots. The upheaval lasted for days but came to a conclusion as stories of Jedi heroics in the embattled Minos Cluster began to return to Coruscant. (Read more…)

Spindrall

Spindrall was a Human male adherent of the Sith Order during the era of the Sith Empire's resurgence. By the time of the Cold War between the Empire and the Galactic Republic, Spindrall was an elder Sith prophet and Lord who had made his home on the Sith's holy world of Korriban. In the deepest reaches of the tomb of the ancient Sith Lord Ajunta Pall, Spindrall counseled new acolytes on the Code of the Sith and retrained failed students who hoped to earn re-entry into the prestigious Sith Academy of Korriban.

During the Cold War, Lord Zash, a supervisor at the academy who visited Spindrall during her own training, mandated that all of her prospective apprentices seek out the hermit during their early trials so that he might judge their worth. Around 3643 BBY, Zash's new class of students traveled into the tomb to find Spindrall in the Sacrificial Chamber. Although all seven of them successfully traversed the dangers of the tomb, only one student, a slave-turned-promising acolyte, truly impressed Spindrall. The elder Sith allowed all seven of Zash's Sith hopefuls to leave the tomb, but chose to condemn the timid acolyte Kory—a condemnation that resulted in her execution upon her return to the Academy. Sadic

Sadic was a humanoid male Sith Lord of the Sith Empire during the Cold War with the Galactic Republic. Born to low-class parents, Sadic's Force-sensitivity gained him admission to the Sith Academy on the planet Korriban, and he orchestrated the deaths of many rival acolytes at the Academy before he became the apprentice and personal assassin of the Sith Lord Umbriss. After Umbriss was killed by his superior Darth Angral, Sadic became Angral's apprentice, and he achieved the rank of Sith Lord alongside his fellows Praven and Nefarid. When Angral's son, Tarnis, was killed by a Jedi Knight in 3643 BBY, Sadic was sent to the moon of Nar Shaddaa to take control of the Republic's Power Guard supersoldier project as part of Angral's war of vengeance against the Republic. Willingly undergoing the Power Guard process himself in order to gain further power, Sadic planned to fashion an army of Power Guards from the throngs of refugees who made Nar Shaddaa their home, but he was killed before his plans could come to fruition by the same Jedi Knight who had killed Tarnis. Hero of Tython

The Hero of Tython was a powerful Jedi Knight and later Jedi Master who battled the resurgent Sith Empire during the Cold War and subsequent Galactic War. Born before the end of the Great Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Hero trained under several Masters across the galaxy during the following Cold War until 3643 BBY, when the Jedi was sent to the Jedi Order's homeworld of Tython. There, the learner was taken on as a Padawan by Orgus Din during the conflict with the native Flesh Raiders and worked to foil the Dark Jedi Bengel Morr's plans to destroy the Jedi Order, during which the apprentice gained a loyal companion in the astromech droid T7-O1, or Teeseven. As a newly elevated Jedi Knight, Din's former apprentice foiled a plot by the Sith Lord Tarnis to use the Planet Prison superweapon against the Republic capital planet of Coruscant. As the Knight took on the young Jedi Kira Carsen as a Padawan, the Jedi was also recruited into the Republic Navy's elite Coruscant Aegis squadron, in which the Knight piloted a Defender-class light corvette under the call sign "Shield."

Tarnis's death at the hands of the Knight caused the Sith Lord's father, Darth Angral, to declare war against the Jedi Order and the Republic, which forced the Knight and crew to travel the galaxy in order to stop the Sith's apprentices from unleashing stolen Republic superweapons. The trio halted the efforts of Imperial Intelligence to capture the Republic scientist Doctor Nasan Godera on the planet Taris, and worked with the Republic Strategic Information Service, the Republic's own intelligence agency, to destroy the Power Guard Project and defeat Angral's apprentice Lord Sadic on the moon Nar Shaddaa. The Knight and crew also hunted down and destroyed the Shock Drum weapon on the planet Tatooine, where they also convinced Angral's apprentice Praven to become a Jedi and rescued Carsen's former Master Bela Kiwiiks. The Knight's mission to Alderaan saw the destruction of the Death Mark laser and the death of Angral's apprentice Nefarid, but Angral killed Master Din and tested his new Desolator weapon on the agriworld Uphrades with horrific results. However, the Knight foiled Angral's attempts to use the Desolator against Tython and defeated the Sith Lord in battle, and as a result, Grand Master Satele Shan granted the Knight the ceremonial title of "Hero of Tython."

The Hero soon joined a strike team led by Jedi Master Tol Braga whose purpose was to capture the Sith Emperor himself. While the Jedi recovered a prototype cloaking device on the war-torn planet Balmorra, the Hero gained a new ally in the combat medic known as Doc, and rescued Braga's Padawan Sajar from Imperials and the threat of the dark side on Quesh. The final preparation for the capture of the Emperor was a mission to the ice planet of Hoth, where the Hero worked with Sergeant Fideltin Rusk of the 301st Infantry to recover the plans for the Emperor's Fortress, after which Rusk joined the Jedi's crew. However, when the Knight joined the rest of the strike team in a confrontation the Emperor, the Sith ruler easily defeated the Jedi and turned the entire strike team to the dark side.

After months of training as a Sith under Overseer Chaskar, the Hero was freed by the ghost of Master Din and escaped from the space station with the unlikely help of the Emperor's Wrath Scourge, the Emperor's personal executioner. Scourge revealed to the Jedi High Council that the Emperor intended to consume all life in the galaxy with a dark ritual, and the Sith Lord joined the Hero's crew as the group traveled to Belsavis in order to prevent the Imperial officer Krannus from destroying the planet and starting the Emperor's ritual. The Knight then fought and redeemed fellow strike team member Leeha Narezz before traveling to the planet Voss, where the Hero worked to stop the Sith Lord Fulminiss from unleashing a plague of madness. After defeating yet another fallen strike team member, Warren Sedoru, the Hero of Tython assumed command of all Jedi on the embattled planet of Corellia, and led the Jedi forces against a corrupted Tol Braga's attempts to start the Emperor's ritual. In the Emperor's moment of weakness, the Hero and T7-O1 confronted their enemy in the Dark Temple on the Imperial capital of Dromund Kaas while a Republic invasion fleet assaulted the world. Despite the Emperor's immense power, the Knight apparently struck down the Sith ruler, for which the Hero was awarded the Cross of Glory and the rank of Jedi Master. (Read more…)

Battle of Rhen Var

The Battle of Rhen Var was a conflict between the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War, fought around 3653 BBY. The engagement was catalyzed by the Empire's invasion and seizure of the icy Outer Rim world of Rhen Var—an operation overseen by the Dark Council member and Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Mekhis. Mekhis, a Sith scientist and alchemist, intended to use the world to test her new creations, and though she was initially successful in her endeavors, a Republic intervention force led by members of the Jedi Order arrived on the planet to challenge the Empire for control.

Commanded by Jedi Knight Satele Shan, the Republic defense group engaged the Imperial Army on Rhen Var and carved a path toward Darth Mekhis's command center. Although the ranks of the Republic Army suffered enormous losses in the battle, Shan and fellow Knights Syo Bakarn, Jaric Kaedan, and Bela Kiwiiks rallied their forces and continued their advance. After an extensive skirmish in the frosted forests of Rhen Var, Shan herself stormed Mekhis's compound and engaged the Dark Lord, grievously wounding the Sith during their duel and claiming victory for the Republic. The Republic's losses during the battle were immense, but the triumph on Rhen Var halted the Empire's advance and briefly turned the tide of the Great Galactic War. (Read more…)

Scourge (Sith)

Scourge was a pureblood Sith male who served as a Sith Lord of the reconstituted Sith Empire and later as the Emperor's Wrath, the personal enforcer of the Sith Emperor, before he allied with the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython in order to prevent the Emperor from extinguishing all life in the galaxy. Born several decades before the Jedi Civil War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire under the Sith Lord Darth Revan, Scourge excelled during his time as a student at the Sith Academy on the Imperial capital of Dromund Kaas. After two years of service in the outer reaches of the Empire, Scourge was recalled to Dromund Kaas to uncover the person responsible for the recent string of assassination attempts against Darth Nyriss of the Empire's ruling Dark Council.

Scourge battled political intrigue and rivals in his search for the truth, and after he was led to believe that Nyriss's fellow Dark Councilor Darth Xedrix was responsible, he killed Xedrix—only to learn that Nyriss had manipulated him: the assignment had been a test of his loyalties. Nyriss revealed the existence of a conspiracy against the Emperor as she showed the younger Sith how the Emperor had stripped the Force from his own homeworld of Nathema and killed millions in order to become immortal. Convinced that the Emperor needed to be stopped, Scourge allied himself with the Jedi Masters Revan and Meetra Surik while planning to confront the Emperor—but when he witnessed the future and saw that it was another Jedi who was destined to destroy the Emperor, Scourge turned on his allies to ensure his own survival.

Rendered immortal and appointed as the Emperor's Wrath, Scourge served the Emperor loyally for over three centuries, killing the Emperor's enemies and carrying out his will. Not until the Galactic War began to break out between the Empire and the Republic did Scourge encounter the Hero of Tython, the Jedi from his vision, and set in motion his plans to aid the Jedi. Scourge watched as the Hero was forced to become a servant of the Emperor when a strike team of Jedi failed to capture the Sith ruler, but when the Hero broke free from the Emperor's control, Scourge betrayed the Sith to help the Jedi escape. Pledging his loyalty to the Hero, Scourge aided the Knight and the Jedi's crew in foiling the Emperor's plans to repeat the dark side ritual that he had used to devastate Nathema but on a galactic scale. With Scourge's aid, the Hero defeated the Emperor's servants and vanquished the Sith ruler in a final confrontation, and Scourge was awarded the Republic's Cross of Glory for his role in stopping the Emperor's plans. Sand demon

The sand demon was a species of semi-sentient, six-legged insectoid that was native to the planet Tatooine. Feared by all other life on the desert world, sand demons preyed on a wide variety of creatures, including the legendary krayt dragon. Sand demons often lived for centuries, gliding beneath the surface of the desert as though the sand was an ocean and boring through rock with its razor-sharp legs. Tatooine's native Tusken Raiders believed that sand demons devoured their victims' life essences to grow stronger with each kill. Physically similar to the tentacled lyleks native to the planet Ryloth, sand demons were often tracked by members of the Jedi Order as part of the Tusken Raiders' Demon's Blood ritual, and while brave hunters occasionally sought to bring down one of the beasts, the creatures' ferocity and rarity left them shrouded in legends and myths. Satele Shan

Satele Shan was a Human female who served as the Jedi Order's Grand Master during the Cold War and the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. The daughter of Jedi Knight Tasiele Shan, who was herself a descendant of the legendary Jedi Knights Revan and Bastila Shan, Satele was born on the planet Brentaal IV in the year 3699 BBY. Inheriting her family's Force-sensitivity, she was inducted into the Jedi Order and became the Padawan of Jedi Master Ngani Zho, though she later traveled to the Sith homeworld of Korriban to study under the Zabrak Battlemaster Kao Cen Darach. It was there that she witnessed the recapture of the planet by the Sith Empire in 3681 BBY, and she escaped to warn the Republic with the help of the smuggler Nico Okarr and a Republic trooper named Jace Malcom at the cost of Darach's life.

Achieving the rank of Jedi Knight under the tutelage of Master Dar'Nala, Shan led her fellow Jedi and the forces of the Republic Military into battle in the Great Galactic War, becoming a well-known hero to the Republic. Shan also grew close with Malcom despite the Jedi Order's restrictions on attachments, and their bond drove her to rescue Malcom and his small band of Special Forces troopers on the Core World of Alderaan when the Empire invaded the world in 3667 BBY. Her arrival turned the tide of the Battle of Alderaan in the Republic's favor. After defeating the Sith Lord Darth Malgus in combat with the help of Malcom, she and Malcom began an affair that lasted for six months before Shan broke it off in fear of the darkness in the soldier's heart. However, she was pregnant with Malcom's child, and Shan eventually gave birth to her son, Theron, in secret with the help of Master Zho before giving the child up to the Jedi Order and returning to the battlefield.

In 3653 BBY, Shan was selected to be part of the delegation that was to attend peace talks with the Sith Empire on Alderaan. However, the Empire used the conference as a distraction while it attacked the Republic's capital of Coruscant, holding the world hostage to force the Republic to accept the terms of the Treaty of Coruscant. As the galaxy settled into an uneasy Cold War, Shan foiled a conspiracy to sabotage the new peace perpetrated by Dar'Nala herself and afterward embarked on an odyssey inspired by the call of the Force across the galaxy. The journey led her to the Jedi Order's long-lost homeworld of Tython in the Deep Core, and for her rediscovery of the planet, Shan was appointed to the position of Grand Master and given leadership of the entire Order. In her new role, Shan guided the Order through a number of crises that arose during the Cold War also and trained her Kiffar Padawan, Shigar Konshi, to Knighthood.

As the fragile calm of the Cold War began to collapse, Shan worked with the Republic Emergency Response Corps to protect the unsteady peace and the innocents of the galaxy, and she was alerted to a dangerous threat from the Sith Emperor by his former servant Lord Scourge when a daring mission that she had authorized to capture the Emperor ended in disaster. Learning that the Emperor intended to extinguish all life in the galaxy, Shan helped the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython foil the Emperor's plans and personally led an invasion fleet in an assault on the Imperial capital of Dromund Kaas while the Knight confronted and defeated the Emperor. As the renewed war continued to spread across the galaxy, Shan worked with her former flame, Malcom, in his capacity as Supreme Commander of the Republic Military, and the two achieved victory over the prototype Imperial warship Ascendant Spear at Duro thanks to the efforts of their son, Theron. Dromund Kaas operation

The Dromund Kaas operation was a covert mission carried out by the Republic Navy and the Jedi Order in 3641 BBY, during the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, that saw the Republic Navy attack the Imperial capital planet of Dromund Kaas. The naval assault was but a diversion—while the Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan led the Republic Navy in engaging the Imperial First Defense Fleet, a small unit led by the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython infiltrated Dromund Kaas with the purpose of confronting the Sith Emperor. The Hero had foiled the Emperor's recent attempts to massacre thousands on the planets Belsavis, Voss, and Corellia, a sacrifice that was necessary to start the Sith ruler's dark side ritual to consume all life in the galaxy, and the Jedi hoped to kill the Emperor before he could complete his plans.

The Hero and a small group of allies fought their way through the Imperial capital of Kaas City and stole the Sith Emperor's shuttle, which they flew to the nearby Dark Temple and battled their way through the Sith and Imperial Guardsmen who protected the Emperor. The Hero's allies engaged the Temple's defenders while the Knight and the astromech droid T7-O1 fought the Emperor in a final battle in the heart of the Temple. The Emperor was struck down in battle with the Knight, and though only the host body for the Emperor's immortal essence was slain, the Jedi and the galaxy at large believed him to be dead. The Sith Lord Darth Malgus, long at odds with many of the Empire's policies, claimed the Emperor's space station and declared a New Empire, and the six powerful Sith known as the Dread Masters decided that they would claim the galaxy for themselves. The Empire and the Republic largely kept the Emperor's death a secret until the aftermath of the invasion of the planet Makeb two years later, when Republic Supreme Chancellor Leontyne Saresh publicly revealed the success of the classified operation. XoXaan

XoXaan was a humanoid female who, along with eleven other Jedi defectors, became the first Lords of the Sith. As Marchioness of the Dark Jedi's Black Legions, XoXaan fought in the cataclysmic Hundred-Year Darkness war, but was defeated and exiled from the Jedi Order following a rout on the world of Corbos in 6900 BBY. Guilty of high treason, XoXaan was one of twelve Dark Jedi who were banished from the Galactic Republic only to discover the planet Korriban, where they found and enslaved the aboriginal Sith species. Christened as the first of the Sith Lords, XoXaan and her contemporaries instituted a religion that centered around worship and practice of the dark side of the Force, and ruled their new Sith Empire as part of the Sith Council under the Dark Lord of the Sith, Ajunta Pall.

Although other Sith Lords possessed similar talents, XoXaan was noted among her peers for her skills in dark side healing. She recorded her knowledge in a holocron, which was entombed with her in Korriban's Valley of the Dark Lords. Her spirit waited millennia for an individual whom she felt was worthy of her Sith teachings, and it found one such student in the ex-Jedi A'Sharad Hett around 17 BBY. From XoXaan's spirit and holocron, Hett learned the ways of the dark side and eventually assumed the mantle of Dark Lord under the moniker Darth Krayt, creating a new Sith Order. After his Sith conquered the planet Coruscant in 130 ABY, Krayt erected a massive statue within the Temple of the Sith there in reverence of XoXaan—who was considered his first and greatest Sith teacher.
