Plot summary
An infiltrator aboard
On the Imperial Star Destroyer Tarkin's Will, a stormtrooper with visibly damaged armor works at a console. When an officer questions him, the trooper, who is actually Shara Bey in disguise, claims to be performing routine maintenance. The officer, sensing a lie, warns him against being caught in his damaged armor again before walking away. Shara, relieved to have narrowly avoided being caught, slips away.
A daring plan
Meanwhile, aboard the Rebel Alliance Fleet, Shara's husband, Dameron, anxiously awaits a message from her. Leia soon reveals that two messages have been received: one with crucial intelligence on the Imperial hunter fleet, and a personal one for him. Although Dameron insists on rescuing Shara immediately, Mon Mothma advises patience, stating they must wait for the right moment to ensure a successful rescue. She urges him to listen to Shara's message first.
In her recording, Shara explains that parts of the Star Destroyer are cordoned off and damaged, a purposeful "memorial" to the ship's past. She has found everything she needs to survive and has been gathering intelligence by slicing Imperial astromechs. She also reveals her concern about Commander Ellian Zahra, an "unstoppable hunter" who is getting close to discovering her.
The hunter closes in
Back on the Tarkin's Will, Lieutenant Gorr brings Commander Zahra a discipline report about an insolent stormtrooper with damaged armor. The trooper's designation, TK-510, immediately catches Zahra's attention, as she knows no one with that designation is assigned to the ship. Playing a recording of a recent battle, Zahra theorizes that a rebel from Starlight Squadron, which had briefly infiltrated their ship, is still on board. She deduces the rebel must be hiding in the damaged sections of the ship.
A bold escape and an unexpected confrontation
In her final message to Dameron, Shara makes it clear she will have to rescue herself. She has a plan to steal a shuttle from the auxiliary hangar, a less-monitored area of the ship. With a plan to steal a Lambda-Class shuttle, she makes her move. As she approaches a shuttle, she tries to start the engine, but it fails. Zahra appears, revealing she figured out Shara's plan. A fight ensues, ending with Zahra stabbing Shara in the abdomen.
Back on the Rebel Fleet, Dameron gathers his friends and Shara's friends. He delivers a rallying cry to rescue her, and they vow to help.
