Plot summary

Recap: Following the devastating defeat at Hoth, the Rebel fleet is scattered. After losing Han Solo to Darth Vader's bounty hunter, Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and Lando Calrissian barely escape Cloud City aboard the Millennium Falcon, only to find the remainder of the Rebel fleet under attack. A daring plan from Leia allows the fleet to escape. In the battle, a wounded Luke channels the Force to destroy an entire squadron of enemy fighters. After his confrontation with Vader, Luke now questions his destiny as a Jedi.

Lando, desperate to earn Leia's trust and atone for his past, tries to convince her to let him help rescue Han. Leia agrees, allowing Lando to take the Falcon with Chewbacca, hoping it will lead to Han's rescue. She tells him she must remain with the fleet to help lead them to safety.

During their flight in the Outer Rim, Lando and Chewbacca are surprised to see a squadron of TIE fighters explode suddenly. The attackers are revealed to be pirate vessels who believe Han Solo is aboard. Lando, thinking quickly, negotiates with the pirates and convinces them to let him land on Tatooine to negotiate with Jabba the Hutt.

Meanwhile, aboard a Rebel starship, Commander Grek tells the crew that the Empire may have broken their transmission codes, leaving them unable to communicate with other Rebel teams. Leia tells them they have a choice: hide and wait, or take action. The crew rallies behind her as Grek reveals the plans for Operation Starlight.

At Jabba's palace, Lando asks locals if they've seen Boba Fett, but is quickly ushered in to see Jabba. The Hutt reveals he knows of Lando's shady deals with the Harlok Gang and that Cloud City is now under Imperial control. When Lando tries to negotiate, Jabba tells him he already has a deal with the Empire. Jabba demands the Millennium Falcon as payment for the money Han owes him and threatens to feed Lando to his rancor. Lando, cornered, offers to share information about the Rebellion and reveals that he knows who has Han. Retreating in the falcon, Lando tells Chewbacca that the negotiations went well.

On another Rebel starship, Luke trains with his newly constructed hand. Lando approaches him and urges him to return to Bespin with him to recover the lightsaber he lost there.
