Plot summary
The Battle of Panisia
Aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Tarkin's Will, Commander Ellian Zahra prepares to face the entire rebel fleet on the planet Panisia. Hugely outnumbered, Zahra gives her crew a rousing speech, stating that they will not call for reinforcements. Her goal is to destroy the rebels and demonstrate the futility of their cause. She orders the battle to be recorded to humiliate the Rebellion and reminds the crew that all the rebel leaders—Mon Mothma, Hera Syndulla, Gial Ackbar, and Leia Organa—are present, and it is time for revenge.
The rebels offer Zahra a chance to surrender, but she orders her crew to battle stations. Her plan is to move the ship toward the encampment on the planet's surface. She reveals her plan is to feign retreat and leap into hyperspace, though not before firing the ship's ion cannons to cause the rebel ships to lose control and crash.
A daring rescue
On the Tarkin's Will's detention level, Kes Dameron and his squad appear and shoot the stormtroopers guarding the cells. They locate Shara Bey's cell, and Dameron goes to rescue her. Zahra waits until the last possible moment to pull the ship out of its nosedive toward the planet.
Dameron and Bey reunite and make their way back to the others. They notice that the Star Destroyer torched the rebel encampment with its thrusters. Dameron is told to get Bey out while the others set explosive charges to damage the ship.
The end of the Tarkin's Will
Zahra informs Lieutenant Gorr of her plan to destroy the rebel flagship, Home One, before jumping to lightspeed and heading to the nearest Imperial garrison for refit.
An internal explosion rocks the ship, and a technician reports massive damage to the primary reactor, leaving the ship on auxiliary power. The technician explains that the damage was caused internally and that the shields are down. They advises Zahra that the ship has suffered catastrophic damage. Zahra accepts defeat and orders her crew to abandon ship as the Tarkin's Will nosedives toward the planet and explodes.
Aboard the Home One, Bey and Organa embrace. Organa tells Bey that she will be having a talk with Dameron about the chain of command. Just then, Organa receives a message from Zahra, who reveals that she survived the crash.
