Star Wars 26 is the twenty-sixth issue of the 2020 canon comic book series Star Wars. The issue was written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Andrés Genolet and Rachelle Rosenberg, and published by Marvel Comics on August 17, 2022.

Opening crawl

THE PATH TO VICTORY 
The Rebellion has made progress in its struggle to
free the galaxy from Imperial rule. General Leia
Organa has finally triumphed over the cruel
Commander Zahra, who massacred multiple rebel
squadrons.

In another corner of the galaxy, Luke Skywalker
sought out the secrets of the Jedi to improve his
connection to the Force. His journey culminated in the
discovery of a mysterious book linked to the Jedi.

Despite the progress, the threat of the Empire looms
as large as ever. In the wake of the crushing defeat on
Hoth, the capture of Captain Han Solo and the
slaughter at the hands of Commander Zahra, the
heroes of the Rebellion will need many more victories
to weaken the Empire's grip over the galaxy….

Plot summary

A public display of Rebellion

On the planet Bar'leth, the Imperial Unity Day Parade is underway, with hundreds of Imperial vehicles and weapons on display for the galaxy to see. Suddenly, the rebel fleet, led by Wedge Antilles, appears in the atmosphere and attacks the parade, causing significant damage before escaping into space. Leia Organa briefs the rebel leaders on their success, explaining that they have publicly attacked the Empire's nose in a way the entire galaxy can see. Mon Mothma notes that while Imperial propaganda claims victory, freedom-loving people will know the Rebellion is not gone and that the fight continues. Organa tells the leaders that the war will be won through an endless series of small acts of defiance.

In the aftermath, the rebels discuss their next steps, including rebuilding supply lines and establishing a new base. Admiral Gial Ackbar says they must continue with more missions like the Unity Day attack to make the Empire appear vulnerable. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker is eager to study the book he found, which he believes contains incredible knowledge.

A new threat for the Empire

In an Imperial black facility, codenamed Second Sun, Major Sharin of the Imperial Security Bureau arrives to investigate Commander Ellian Zahra's failure to destroy the rebel fleet. She is there on the Emperor's orders to review security procedures at all Imperial black facilities. Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod gives her a tour, but unbeknownst to them, two of the workers, Bevelyn and her partner Jon Melton, are spies for the Crimson Dawn.

Melton receives a message from his aunt, Qi'ra, with new orders to cause problems for the Empire. They understand that getting caught would be disastrous, but they agree to take the risk, knowing that Qi'ra's plans are coming to a head.

A sudden betrayal

As Major Sharin prepares to leave the facility, she tells Moff Jerjerrod that his operation is in good shape. She mentions that she must leave for Mount Pasvaal to investigate a troubling incident there. On board her shuttle, Sharin realizes her pilot is not her usual one. Bevelyn suddenly attacks and subdues her. Behind Bevelyn, are her and Jon's two frightened children—Reen and Zelly—hiding under a blanket.
