Security droids,[2] also known as enforcer droids,[3] were a type of droid used for supervision and enforcement, often relying on brute strength.[2]

History

During the Battle of Jedha, Eiram's military made use of enforcer droids supplied by Tilson Graf, who in secret was partnered with the Mother of the Path of the Open Hand. Graf also supplied a shipment of enforcer droids to the Mother to protect the Path.[4] The Path of the Open Hand, which transformed into the Path of the Closed Fist, made use of the enforcer droids during the Night of Sorrow.[5] During the Clone Wars, the term "security droid" commonly referred to the OOM-series security droid[1] used by the Trade Federation[6] and Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] Owen Lars had a KPR security droid at his moisture farm.[7]

The KX-series was a security droid model used by the Galactic Empire.[8] An offshoot of the droid-based Droid Gotra crime family,[9] the Vanguard Axis was an entirely-droid run cartel[10] whose number included a great many K3 security droids.[11] The Crimson Dawn syndicate used modified A3L-N sentinel droids to patrol a prison area on Crimson Dawn's fortress flagship Vermillion.[12] The New Republic used N5 sentry droids and R1 security droids.[13] The First Order was known to use the KXFO-series security droid.[14] A model of security droid was stationed aboard the refueling station known as the Colossus during 34 ABY, where they ensured peace onboard at the will of Captain Imanuel Doza.[15] Doza’s droid assistant 4D-M1N kept track of the security droids, and was alerted if they were ever deactivated.[16]
