Meeting Kenobi
- "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."
"Ventress. Asajj Ventress. A pleasure to finally meet a Jedi. Count Dooku speaks so highly of your Order." - ―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ventress, during their first meeting
In 22 BBY, during the Clone Wars, the Cadesura district of the city Zarra on the planet Cato Neimoidia was bombed. The Jedi Order and Galactic Republic sent Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to investigate and represent the Republic, so in response Count Dooku sent Ventress there as an emissary of the Separatists to make sure Kenobi stayed honest. When Ventress arrived on Cato Neimoidia, she met with Minister Alluv Eyam, and after pleasantries warned that the Jedi sending a lone Jedi was a trick. She ranted about the Jedi and Republic's supposed disintrest, disrespect, and disregard of the Neimoidians and their culture and got Eyam to admit that the Trade Federation's connections with the Republic were tenuous. After Eyam revealed to her that the Jedi's name was Obi-Wan Kenobi, she stormed out of the room. She then approached guards outside the door, including Ruug Quarnom, suggesting they should come to her with greivances toward the Republic if they ever had any.[1]
The Confederacy provided Ventress with equipment, which she placed into a small bunker she set up nearby the bombing site. It contained a small comms station and a datapad, which Ventress population with information that could potentially implicate the Republic in the disaster. When Kenobi arrived, Ventress was part of the party there to greet him. He immediately recognized her as a new separatist leader that some Republic forces had briefly encountered. Ventress then began to search through a crate of Kenobi's belongings while making small talk and explaining how him and his items could be accomodated. The woman then suggested that they would be friends after Kenobi claimed he had kept a scanning device for sentimental value. After finishing checking out his items, Ventress introduced herself by name, telling him that it was an honor to meet a Jedi as Dooku spoke highly of the Order.[1]
As they embarked on a tour of the city of Zarra, Ventress became annoyed by Kenobi's pleasantries and just blatantly explained that she was there to make sure there were no signs of corruption from Kenobi, believing the Jedi acted as a wing of the Republic. Kenobi expressed interest in working with her in good faith, and the two shook hands. When the tour arrived at the Cadesura disaster site, even Ventress was disturbed. After asking the shuttle to stop, she pulled aside Kenobi and by using a scope pointed out that there were six even blast points, saying it suggested military precision to subtly implicate the Republic. She then requested the shuttle bring them to the ground level, claiming she would get to the bottom of the mystery and telling Kenobi he could work with her if he won her over. Throughout the rest of his first day there, Ventress chaperoned Kenobi at a moderate distance, continuously tracking him and watching him even when they were separated and talking with other people, thus preventing him from investigating too deeply.[1]
On the inside
- "So, this Jedi comes to your world. Violates your rules. Hides the evidence you so desperately seek. And then transmits it to the Republic. He has not just broken trust. He has smashed it to pieces, then swept it away."
"We're fortunate that the Confederacy sent Asajj Ventress to oversee the Jedi emissary. Without her, who knows what he might have gotten away with?" - ―Ventress and Ketar
Quarnom believed that Ventress was unnervingly eager and attempted to keep her apprentice Ketar Nor away from her, but Nor still went to Ventress after a guard shift and ranted to her about the bombing and his suspicions about the Republic. Ventress stayed silent despite finding some of his conclusions questionable, hoping to gain trust. Later, Ventress brought Nor down to the bombing site, deliberately manipulating him and stoking his anger by pointing out locations that had been destroyed. They eventually arrived at her small bunker, Ventress immediately recognizing that Kenobi had broken in by a lightsaber mark left on the lock, but hiding this from Nor. After connecting with and feeding a korgee beast that had seemingly damaged the bunker, she asked for Nor's help and brought him inside, immediately noticing her datapad was gone, taken by Kenobi.[1]
Having hoped to give the information on the datapad to Nor to push him over the edge, Ventress changed her tactic, instead offering him the chance to keep Cato Neimoidia from supporting the Republic and avenging the plight of every Neimoidian in the galaxy, including Nor's late parents. She then opened a bio-locked safe and presented Nor with explosives. She explained that they were not the ones used for Cadesura's bombing and suggested that he use it to bomb the Republic consulate office of diplomat Rosbuen Frisk as a statement against the Republic's indifference. Ventress regarded it as a victory when Nor said he was considering her offer, and got him to help her move the bunker away from the wildlife. She then suggested that she could prove Kenobi was not as honorable as he seemed, smiling behind Nor's back and inviting him to investigate what Kenobi had brought with him to Cato Neimoidia.[1]
Ventress went to Kenobi's quarters, telling Ketar to stand guard outside but expecting him to look inside and see what she was doing. Ventress found the scanner that she had noticed when searching his stuff earlier. Cutting it open with her lightsabers, Ventress found her datapad with the information that incriminated the Republic and a comlink that transmitted a message from Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker confirming that the information on the datapad was real. After Kenobi was brought before Minister Eyam and other officials by guards, Ventress and Ketar arrived, presenting the datapad and the comlink as proof of Kenobi communicating with the Republic and covering up its crimes. She then presented images of her bunker and claimed it was Kenobi's citing Dooku's knowledge imparted onto her of the Jedi to point out that a lightsaber had melted the lock. Claiming Kenobi tried to seal off the bunker and then providing an image of the bunker burned and destroyed, Ventress claimed that Kenobi had tried to hide and destroy evidence and had destroyed his trust with Cato Neimoidia. The officials believed Ventress and Ketar despite Kenobi's protests and decided the Jedi was arrested and declared an enemy of the state.[1]
Shot, chaser
- "I was pleased to see your work up close, Master Kenobi. Count Dooku was right. You're quite impressive."
- ―Ventress, to Kenobi
Before he could be arrested, Kenobi pulled his confiscated lightsaber to him with the Force and ignited it, only running once Ketar shot at him. As Quarnom and Ketar pursued him through the building, Ventress slowly following behind, Kenobi approached a window. When Quarnom missed her shot at Kenobi, the Jedi leaped out the window, turning to look at Ventress as he did. After Quarnom and Ketar argued about the other's tactics, Ventress accused Quarnom of having bias toward Kenobi and failing to make proper judgements, continuing her manipulation of Ketar. Quarnom refused to engaged with Ventress and left on a floating platform with Ketar, Ventress taking another that came after.[1]
Kenobi was eventually apprehended by Quarnom in a Trade Federation building, where Ventress stopped Ketar from attacking Kenobi further once he was put in cuffs, sure he would submit. Ventress noticed that Kenobi no longer had his lightsaber, Kenobi claiming that it had been shot out of his hand by one of the guards' seeker droids despite having actually hidden it away in the building. Quarnom—who trusted Kenobi—corroberated his story, leading a suspicious Ventress to suggest she could be influenced by a Jedi Mind Trick, though Ventress eventually deferred to Quarnom's expertise after a staredown. As Kenobi was taken away, Ventress leaned in and complimented him while messing with his hair, noting that Dooku had been correct about his impressive skill.[1]
An acolyte's acolyte
- "If you trust her, then you will do whatever it takes to break the hold that Kenobi has over her. To break the hold that the Jedi and the Republic have over Neimoidians. You can do this, Ketar. You can be the one."
- ―Ventress, to Ketar on Ruug Quarnom
Later, Ventress brought Ketar to a room she had rented for cheap in an industrial district of Zarra, and enjoyed the area of the city much more. After mocking Ketar for thinking he had a chance at taking down Kenobi with his blaster, the boy questioned how she understood the extent of the Jedi's power. Admiring his confidence, Ventress revealed her red lightsaber after weighing her options, knowing Dooku expected her to strategize and improvise. Disparaging the ways of the Jedi, Ventress clarified that she only had a Jedi weapon in the way that many groups of people used blasters, declaring the weapon a means of protection. Reminding Ketar of reasons to trust her, she goaded him into believing that Quarnom had been mentally influenced by the Jedi's powers, falsely explaining that it had caused her to miss her shot and pointing out that Quarnom had been trying to keep Ventress away from him. Successfully manipulating Ketar while tearing apart the Jedi's ideology and their transition to soldiers, she once again presented him with explosives and encouraged him to make a statement that would sway the Neimoidians against the Republic and protect what he cared about.[1]
While imprisioned, Kenobi told Quarnom to keep Ventress away from Ketar, with Quarnom saying that she had tried and did not trust Ventresses' motives. Ventress continued manipulating Ketar, convincing him that Dooku would not exploit the Neimoidians like the Republic had. After Kenobi was found guilty by the Neimoidian court, Ventress walked onto the dais where minister Eyam and the judge addressed Kenobi. She locked eyes with him and then held her hand up in a point toward the guards that were to take Kenobi away. She then used the Force to start choking one of them, which the guards blamed on Kenobi. As the guards prepared to attack Kenobi, she raised her arm and caused another guard to choke before turning and leaving.[1]
Later, Ketar approached Kenobi and the newly arrived Skywalker and Jedi Initiate Mill Alibeth, Ketar holding a detonator and threatening to blow up an infirmary and frame Kenobi for it. Ventress spoke to Ketar over a comm in his ear when Kenobi tried to reason with him, her words sending Ketar over the edge and making him unreasonable. Kenobi begged Ketar to give him the same amount of time that he had given Ventress, but the detonator was shot out of his hand by Quarnom. Approaching Ketar and the Jedi, Quarnom took responsibility for allowing Ventress to get to Ketar, and said that while she hoped Ventress's words were speaking, not Ketar's, that he would be held accountable for his actions even if Ventress goaded him into them. While Quarnom considered executing Ketar, Kenobi wondered if Ventress cared what happened to Ketar, suspecting she had just used him.[1]
Versus Skywalker
- "She's mine, Skywalker. Let her train with a true master."
- ―Ventress, to Skywalker on Mill Alibeth
When Skywalker and Alibeth attempted to reach their ship to flee Cato Neimoidia, Ventress arrived at the sewage tunnel they were passing through in her starfighter, using its cannons to shoot the ceiling and collapse the exit to the tunnel. In the darkness, Ventress approached. She recognized Skywalker, awareness that he had fought agents before, knowing his name, and understanding his differences from Kenobi, stemming from a prior meeting that Skywalker did not recognize her from, though he did recognize her ship. Skywalker threatened her but she laughed it off, stalking him in the darkness before igniting her red lightsaber's to meet Anakin's blue one. She speedily circled him as they dueled, Ventress recognizing that Skywalker was strong and that Dooku would be interested in him. After their blades clashed more, Ventress deactivated hers and slunk into the darkness.[1]
Skywalker charged after her, but Ventress pushed off the wall to slash from above, and though Anakin blocked the blades she kicked him in the gut and in the mouth. In response, Alibeth gasped, catching the attention of Ventress, who had not known she was there. As Skywalker agressively swung at her, he instructed Alibeth to run to the collapsed side of the tunnel to get out of Ventress's way, knocking down Ventress with the Force to buy them time. As Skywalker tried to move the rubble out of the way, Ventress strutted toward him with her lightsabers ignited, questioning who Alibeth was and if she had gone to Ilum for The Gathering as she attacked Skywalker and threw bits of rubble at him with the Force. Sensing conflict and fear in Alibeth and finding kinship upon seeing that Alibeth was a Zabrak, Ventress urged her to question the life of a Jedi as she dueled Skywalker, offering to show Alibeth another path than the Jedi's as she slowly lost the upper hand in the duel.[1]
Ventress deactivated one of her lightsabers to use the Force to open a larger hole in the debris and to knock Skywalker off-balance. Ventress than sprinted toward Alibeth, grabbing her by the waist and leaping beyond the rubble onto her hovering ship. Utilizing the distraction caused by the ship dipping to their weight, Skywalker pulled Alibeth out of Ventress's arms with the Force. Ventress, however, also pulled on her with the Force, leaving Alibeth suspended over a massive drop to the planet's surface. As Ventress insisted that Alibeth would train with a true master, Kenobi arrived and threw his lightsaber at her ship. With the ship starting to sink, Skywalker pulled Alibeth out of Ventress's grasp with the Force. After Kenobi, Skywalker, and Alibeth escaped, Kenobi suspected that they were going to see much more of her.[1]
Yoda
In 382 BBY, after learning of the Battle of Jedha and the failure of a peace treaty between the warring planets Eiram and E'ronoh there, Yoda went to the Republic Executive Building on Coruscant to meet with with Chancellor Greylark while they waited for more information from Jedha. They spoke to Jedi Master Creighton Sun and Jedi Knight Aida Forte, who were on the ground on Jedha and confirmed that the E'roni ambassador was dead and the Eirami had deployed a droid army. They requested to perform an investigation on the Outer Rim Territories planet Dalna of the Path of the Open Hand cult, considering their involvement in the failure of the peace talks, the fact that Jedi Master Silandra Sho felt a disturbance that made the Jedi ill at the Path's almshouse, and that Jedi Knight Gella Nattai believed the Chancellor's criminal son Axel Greylark was working with the Path. Yoda admitted that he had sensed a disturbance beyond Jedha, and emphasized that they need to be careful, reminding them that there was always those who thrived in chaos. After much deliberation, Yoda and Chancellor Greylark eventually agreed to a fact-finding mission accompanied by two of her guards and to send Jedi Master Char-Ryl-Roy and Padawan Enya Keen to Eiram and E'ronoh to try and keep the peace and discover what was causing communications buoys to be down, Yoda explaining to them that Werth Plouth, the Path's Herald, was responsible for the riots on Jedha.
After the communication ended, Yoda expressed his concern as they received another message from Jedi Master Yaddle, who was accompanied by a Jedi Initiate named Cippa Tarko, though the connection of the message was poor. Tarko asked about Yoda, and Yaddle explained that he was a Jedi Master and not her brother. Yoda told Yaddle that they were sending help to Jedha and two Jedi to Dalna and that she was to return to Coruscant, but the message was so choppy they were not sure if she understood. Yoda had an unsettling feeling in the Force that reminded him of the feeling he got whenever a battle was coming. Master Yaddle did misunderstand Yoda's message to mean she was needed on Dalna and joined Sun and Forte there, who sent a message to Yoda confirming they were there shortly before Yaddle arrived.
Later, Chancellor Kyong Greylark had her guards summon Yoda to her to reveal that her son Axel had escaped from prison with the help of the Path and someone named Binnot Ullo. She told Yoda that she did not know who Ullo was and did not think Axel had many friends. He assured her that no one, no galaxy, and no republic was perfect, and that she should continue to fight for the greater good like the Jedi did. She explained that she felt like they have all been moving through a fog that has corrupted everything lately and Yoda insisted that Axel still had good in him and that the 'fog' was just corrupting him too. However, the Chancellor resolved to make Axel truly feel the consequences of his actions.
Eventually, Greylark received a message from her son on Dalna and immediately called Yoda to have him listen to it with her via hologram. After hearing Axel ask for her to go to Dalna to speak with the Path and with him, Yoda asked her what she would do, the Chancellor deciding to go to Dalna. She then recorded a message for Axel that included Yoda in it, wearing a blank expression, so that he could bear witness to her stepping down as Chancellor. After she sent the message, Yoda stayed with her wordlessly for a while, and she appreciated his kindness.
Before Greylark could leave for Dalna, Yoda approached her and said that since he had not heard back from Masters Sun or Ela Sutan, who had also been sent to Dalna, that he would go with her because she was still his friend even though she was no longer Chancellor. Yoda had a Jedi Longbeam cruiser follow them with a contingent of Jedi. While in hyperspace, they received a distress call from Princess Xiri A'lbaran of E'ronoh and Prince Phan-tu Zenn of Eiram. They then received a message from Chancellor Orlen Mollo, who said that the leaders of Eiram and E'ronoh were still not cooperating. Yoda volunteered to rescue the heirs due to their proximity to them and left, taking other Jedi with him.
Eventually, Yoda arrived at the battle that was now raging on Dalna between the Path and the Jedi, which came to be known as the Night of Sorrow. He was joined by Princess A'lbaran and Prince Zenn, the three announcing that the combined forces of Eiram and E'ronoh were there to fight together with the Jedi. When Yoda arrived on the ground, Jedi Gella Nattai told him to direct people to go to the cave system as there was potentially many more Path members there. On Dalna, he met[2] Path Little Tromak. Yoda eventually came to forget Tromak but always remembered the importance of his visit to Dalna.[2]
As the battle started to come to a close with it turning in the Jedi's favor, Yoda and Yaddle stood together, the latter watching Cippa Tarko sleep. However, A'lbaran and Zenn contacted them and informed them that explosions have been set off underground. As Yaddle suggested getting help, the ground shook and Yoda spotted sections of the caves collapse into sinkholes. Yoda and Yaddle then sensed a Jedi in distress and went to help. Finding a door in the ground, Yoda and Yaddle connected to the force and sensed Gella Nattai and Axel Greylark. Yaddle lifted up the ground, rocks, and soil while Yoda lifted the water to try and rescue them. Enya Keen then ran toward them, seeing Nattai, and pulled her and Axel from the mud-like water, having been brought to the surface by the two Jedi Masters. Yoda and Yaddle then set the water and mud down far away. In the sinkhole, E'roni and Eirami soldiers began recovering survivors. Yaddle noticed that the sounds of battle have faded and the sun was rising. She asks Yoda if the battle was done, and he says it was.
Yoda met with Kyong Greylark and Chancellor Mollo on a medical frigate above Coruscant, the three discussing now only having one Chancellor instead of two and what it means. Yoda suggested they speak to the Jedi Council and tell them everything that went wrong, but Greylark also wanted to focus all the things that went right, including the help of the Republic and the Jedi. Mollo revealed that the people of Dalna were calling the event the Night of Sorrow. While he imagined the future, Greylark assured Yoda that she would meet him on Coruscant soon, Yoda adding that there was much to celebrate and remember.
Yoda then traveled to the Jedi temple, confirming first that the royal families of Eiram and E'ronoh had already gathered, who he met with when he arrived. He met with several Jedi, including Yaddle, who was standing with Tarko. Yoda raised his arm to silence the room and Master Sun rose from his chair, walking to the center of the room using a walking stick before beginning a funeral for Jedi Aida Forte, Orin Darhga, and Char-Ryl-Roy. Yoda allowed Roy's former Padawan, Keen, to keep his lightsaber and use it alongside hers.
Later, in the Jedi Archives, Creighton spoke with Yoda about Nameless creatures that the Path deployed on Dalna and the horror they wrought upon the Jedi, causing them to be weakened, hallucinate, and eventually be turned to dust. Yoda confirmed that there is a larger danger connected to them, which caused Creighton to wonder what Yoda knew. Realizing how catastrophic to the Order it could be if people found out about the creatures, and since they had heard no other reports of their usage, they decided to keep quiet about them and not include them in the Jedi Archive. They agreed not to speak of it again and each of them left.
A number of years before the Battle on Quantxi, Yoda took part in a mission to Dalna,[2] which was a planet in the Outer Rim Territories[3] that had historical ties to the Jedi, Republic,[4] and Ro family.[5]
Skywalker
Mon Cala and Mako-Ta
- "I guess you don't need a wingman anymore."
"WEDGE!"
"I thought you'd forgotten me!"
"No way! Red squadron forever!" - ―Wedge Antiles and Skywalker reunite
Skywalker joined Organa, Solo, Ackbar and others to meet with Grand Admiral Dors Urtya of the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet at an island preserve on Mon Cala with the hope of getting the fleet to join the Rebellion. Skywalker was surprised the Empire cared about nature preservation, but Organa clarified that they wanted to exploit it. After Han revealed he used to smuggle from there, which upset Skywalker, Ackbar and Organa began to negotiate as an Imperial LAAT/le patrol gunship approached. Skywalker immediately assumed they'd been betrayed, but Solo thought otherwise and advised Skywalker not to use his lightsaber while he spoke with them. It fired on Urtya's ship, the explosion knocking Skywalker down. When Solo's plan resulted in stormtroopers pursuing them, Skywalker went with the others through the forest to a boat where Chewbacca was waiting. On the boat, Organa continued to try an convince Urtya, but he said that he didn't want to sacrifice Mon Cala, but Skywalker shot back, insisting he couldn't talk to the Princess of Alderaan about sacrifice. They eventually made it back to the Falcon and then to the Mako-Ta Space Docks that the Rebellion was using as a production center, where Skywalker rejected going drinking with Solo.[7]
However, Skywalker did go with Solo to the bar, but insisted on only getting milk, to Solo's dismay. There, someone put their hand on Skywalker's shoulder so he pushed them away with the Force, but it turned out to be Wedge Antilles and the two had a cheerful reunion, Skywalker insisted that he had not forgot about Antilles and declared that Red Squadron was forever. Solo then tried to get Skywalker a drink to celebrate, but Skywalker just ordered the biggest milk they had. Antilles introduced Skywalker to Hobbie and Zev Senesca, who he explained they had met during Alliance training exercises, which he clarified were to ensure enough people could operate cruisers. Senesca said he was honored to meet Skywalker, but Skywalker just told him not to use honorifics and told him he would have also taken the shot. Solo then lead a toast to Red Squadron, Skywalker reciting all its members that had died. Solo was surprised he remembered all the names, but Skywalker expressed that he wished to know the names of all the Rebels that had died. Organa then arrived and told them to finish up because they had a mission.[6]
During the mission, Skywalker accompanied Organa and Solo to the Dex Acquisitions Depot on Meor Ain to retrieve a Clawdite. With C-3PO unable to slice the door to the room where he was, Skywalker used his lightsaber to cut around and remove the locking mechanism before Chewbacca kicked the door. After retrieving the shapeshifter, who briefly pretended to be Bail Organa, the group left.[6]
After debriefing the Clawdite, whose name was Tunga Arpagion, that he was to impersonate the Moff of the Calamari sector Tan Hubi while they kidnapped him, Skywalker insisting the ordeal would make Arpagion more famous. At the Moncaladrome on Mon Cala, Skywalker impersonated a stormtrooper, Organa ordering him to wait until they drugged the Moff and then bring him back to their hideout. Solo and Chewbacca went into a refresher and anticipated kidnapping Hubi while Skywalker stood outside as a stormtrooper and told everyone around that the room was for the Moff's private use, though one Imperial officer did manage to Force themself through. After successfully kidnapping Hubi, Skywalker returned to Organa and warned her to be quick so that others wouldn't notice the switch. After Arpagion copied Hubi's appearance, Skywalker told him "May the Force be with you" before departing with the others and a tied up Hubi in a Mon Cal ship to rescue Mon Cal King Lee-Char from Strokill Prime.[8]
Mon Cal Mutiny
- "The King… He couldn't be moved. He was too ill." […]
"But we've got his last words. If this doesn't inspire Mon Cala, nothing will."
"It has to be worth it. So many people are counting on us." - ―Skywalker and Organa to C-3PO on King Lee-Char
Skywalker swims on Strokill Prime
Once there, Skywalker commented that it made sense they would keep Lee-Char on a water world, though admitted the place looked bleak. After avoiding the planet's security using Hubi's biosignature, they took the ship to the planet and underwater, where they encountered a giant terrifying sea creature.[8] Organa realized that the creature was attracted to their ship because of the light. Solo was skeptical, but Skywalker told him not to question her and informed them he was going to carry out a plan with Chewbacca's help and to be ready. Donning a full body diving suit while Chewbacca set up an underwater sled, Skywalker shot out far away from the ship after Chewbacca gave Skywalker a hug and he thanked the Wookiee. Away from the ship in the expanse of the ocean, Skywalker ignited his lightsaber, leading the creature away with the light. Chewbacca then used a water sled and a breath mask to quickly go after Skywalker and bring him back to the ship as he turned off his lightsaber.[10]
With the creature distracted, they all safely made it to the underwater base, where he commented that hope and luck were working out for them. They then discovered that Lee-Char was hooked up to a machine that was the only thing keeping him alive, and Solo said Skywalker jinxed them.[10] Skywalker attempted to calm an angry Solo, and Lee-Char suggested that they could just carry his words to his people instead of having to lead them directly, prompting Skywalker to suggest they search for a recording droid there.[9]
Lee-Char is found being kept alive by a machine.
After bringing back a camera droid, Skywalker watched as the King recorded his message, before noticing stormtroopers and screaming out to everyone that they had been noticed. The stormtroopers shot into the room, killing Lee-Char, but the group escaped with the recording back to their ship, Skywalker defending them with a blaster and directing them to get onboard and get to hyperspace quickly. He then pointed out that the Falcon with its touchy hyperdrive would not have been able to pull that off, but Solo warned him to stop disparaging the ship. They met back up with C-3PO in a deserted cove on Mon Cala, Skywalker revealing to the droid that the king couldn't be moved but having hope that his message was worth it because people were counting on them. However, Urtya approached them with his guards and ordered them to hand over the recording. As he forcefully took it from Organa, Skywalker screamed that Lee-Char would be ashamed, though Solo told him to top talking and that they needed to get out of there. However, Urtya decided to show the footage too all of the fleet captains. Back on the Falcon, Skywalker heard on an earpiece that the people on the Mon Calamari ships were rebelling because of footage of Lee-Char. Because of this, however, the Imperial fleet arrived.[9]
The Falcon faces the Imperial fleet over Mon Cala.
Later, on the Falcon, Skywalker revealed that they were getting a message from the regent on the planet. The regent apologized for acting without warning and revealed he had called the Rebel fleet. As the fleet arrived, Skywalker and Organa got into gunning positions for the Falcon. Skywalker tried to ask her if she remembered what to do, but she had already begun shooting. Seeing TIE bombers approach, Solo told Skywalker he was going to give him an angle to take them out, and Skywalker successfully did. Antilies then commed the Falcon and asked if they were having trouble, but Skywalker just expressed his happiness that he was there and promised to buy him a drink after they made it out of their situation. Skywalker kept shooting to help protect jettisoned escape pods, and the Falcon escaped to hyperspace after a Mon Calamari ship full of coaxium crashed into the Star Destroyer and exploded it. Later, Skywalker accompanied Organa, Solo, and Chewbacca to see Arpagion off on the Cosmatanic Steppes.[11]
Larrocca my enemy II
Battle of Mako-Ta
Later, Skywalker participated in a celebration of the commencement of the Rebel fleet at the Rebel Base at Mako-Ta, using his X-Wing to create a display trail of blue light alongside other X-Wings creating trails of other colors. After landing his starfighter back in the hangar bay, Skywalker expressed his enthusiasm that amount Rebels present could definitively defeat the Empire, though had to assure General Dodonna that he was not being overconfident and was just excited. However, due to a betrayal by Queen Trios of Shu-Torun, the commencement failed and the Imperial Navy arrived, which Skywalker saw from a window and suspected was led by Vader. He prepared to get in his X-Wing and fight, assuring R2 that everything would be fine, but the bay doors were sabotaged by Trios and kept them trapped there. He then watched with shock as one of the Alliances cruisers was destroyed[12] and others started to be, but still assured Zev that they had survived the Death Star and would not die there. Skywalker and Antilles then spotted the Falcon taking on the fighters, both confused as to what Solo was doing there. Unbeknownst to them Solo was trying to get to them to let them know that the bay doors would open if they just flew toward them because of a fail-safe.[13]
Skywalker was disturbed by feeling powerless to help and only watch the ships get destroyed, but Solo sent C-3PO in an escape pod to the hangar bay, who informed him that they could leave by flying at the doors. Skywalker rallied all of the fighters to get ready to launch and readied R2. Dodonna commed Skywalker, who informed him of the situation, but Dodonna warned him that they needed to test it first. Skywalker ignored this and proceeded, saying he'd be the test, but Dodonna insisted he stand down, Skywalker realized that his situation was making him feel how Jyn Erso must've felt. Though R2 warned that the doors might not open, he continued, saying that if he trusted the Force he would save the galaxy, but blamed his potential death on C-3PO. However, the doors opened and the rest of the fighters went to meet Skywalker, Skywalker telling Wedge that he was glad for their company. Wedge advised against sentiment and asked Skywalker what their call sign should be. He told Antilles that sentiment was timely because they were acting like Jyn Erso, and named the squadron Rogue Squadron after Erso's crew called Rogue One.[14] From the base, Organa hoped out loud that Skywalker would spread the word after learning that he was out there. While fighting, Skywalker called out to Rogue Eight to warn them that someone was on their tail, but it was too later and their X-wing was destroyed. Solo advised the squadron to stay close to the destroyers, and as they did, Skywalker noticed the decrepit state of the Falcon and asked what happened to it, Solo merely replying that Darth Vader got to it and warning Skywalker that he was still there somewhere. After Solo's plan paid off, Skywalker made a joke to him by calling him an Admiral, which Solo told him never to do again.[15]
Knowing that they needed to spread the word to the other cruisers that they could launch their fighters but not wanting to split up to land on them, Skywalker told Rogue Squadron to form up on him as he made a run past Ackbar's ship, ignoring Antilles's warnings against it. As Ackbar watched, his attention grabbed by the display trail, Skywalker flew toward the bay doors on one of the cruisers, which opened. Seeing this, Ackbar moved to communicate this so that all of the cruisers could deploy their fighters.[15] Solo then announced to Skywalker that the Falcon was too damaged and so he was flying an X-wing. Skywalker pursued a rogue TIE fighter that escaped them, that unbeknownst to him was piloted by Organa, who decided to take it while fleeing Vader and the Executor. Sensing something was off and noticing the pilot's skill, Skywalker had R2 try and scan and message it, to no avail. Solo pointed out to him that they were not flying like an academy pilot as Organa shot down another TIE. Realizing the pilot was on their side, Skywalker ordered Rogue Squadron to form up and protect the TIE as it came in to land on a cruiser, knowing it needed Rebel transponders surrounding it for the bay doors to open. Skywalker was shot as he did this and crashed into the bay, Solo and Organa making sure he was all right and all of them happy things worked out well for them. Due to the counter-codes Organa had retrieved from the Executor, the cruiser escaped to hyperspace, though Skywalker wanted to go back and try and rescue more people, pointing out that his chance had worked out before. Dodonna criticized him for this and told him the decision was not his, merely telling Skywalker and Organa to prepare for war.[16]
While Solo returned to Mako-Ta with Rogue Squadron, Skywalker told them he'd fly with them again soon, causing Organa to make a comment implying he was neurotic. As Organa told Mon Mothma to get the ambassadors to board their ship, he spotted a TIE fighter coming to them, but it was shot down by Solo. Soon after, Skywalker tried to inform Solo that they were almost ready to leave, but couldn't get ahold of him. Organa and Skywalker told Mothma to leave in the main transport with everyone while they tried to save Solo by attaching cables to his X-Wing and then jumping to hyperspace. Skywalker brought them to a moon called Corosi 7 where Mothma sent them a transmission informing them that in the midst of the Alliance's dispersal, Skywalker was promoted to a Commander and Organa to a General, instructing them to find more ways to organize and hurt the Empire. Receiving no information on the location of Chewbacca or the Falcon, Skywalker wondered how they would find them. Solo decided to take them to Nar Shaddaa, where they met up with Sana Starros, who agreed to bring them all along in her ship the Ark Angel.[17]

Sergia
- "And look at this. Didn't I just spend all my life trying to get off a desert planet?"
- ―Luke Skywalker on the desert planet Sergia
Skywalker was assigned General Rieekan to Sergia
Following their mission to Shu-Toran, Skywalker, along with Solo and Organa, returned to the Rebel fleet where General Carlist Rieekan, noting his skill as a pilot, assigned Skywalker a mission to the Inner Rim planet Sergia to lure all Imperial forces and probe droids that had recently been released en mass from a refueling station the Rebel Alliance had established on the planet. When Skywalker arrived, he found a massive Star Destroyer in orbit. After failing to lure it away, Skywalker landed on the planet and tried to look for the Rebels on foot, though was upset that he couldn't influence the Star Destroyer's pilot with the Force to do what he wanted like he believed Kenobi could have. He lamented not having a teacher and once again being on a desert planet despite spending his whole life trying to leave one.[18]
After destroying a probe droid that was caught in a stampede of plain hundas with his his lightsaber, Skywalker found that the rebels were operating out in the open, and sent R2-D2 to deliver a message to the rebels to lie low until he could help them to escape. He spent hours attempting to find pods released by the Star Destroyer, eventually trying and failing to use the Force to find them, before finding a town and deciding to check it out. There, in a bar, Skywalker saved thief Warba Calip from an individual that was threatening her because he believed she was cheating at sabacc by beating them with a broom. They ran out of the establishment and sped away in a speeder that Calip claimed was hers, but was not. Skywalker was annoyed by the experience and asked her to drop him off as soon as possible, but she was elated and asked why he wasn't, before suggesting that the reason she had won so much at the bar was because she knew the Force, saying she recognized Skywalker as someone who sought it.[19]
Eventually the speeder Skywalker and Calip were in was deactivated from afar by the owner and the two introduced themselves to each other. When he questioned his decision to rescue her, she claimed she had cheated earlier using a Jedi mind trick, though she wasn't a Jedi. She also saw his lightsaber and told him to tell her all about it after they moved the speeder and then hid. Once they did, and saw the owner coming for it, they hid out in a forest of dead trees, though Calip no longer was interested in hearing about his lightsaber or helping him with the Force because she said using the Force got people killed. He insisted he just needed a little help, before noticing that Calip had stolen his lightsaber and pulling it back to him to activate it. After contacting someone named Tinga about the lightsaber, Calip tried to suggest that Skywalker run away and settle down, but he insisted that he needed to learn about the Force to fight the Empire and tried to convince her to help him with his mission to destroy the shuttles that had arrived there, explaining that he was unable to locate them with the Force. She claimed that she could teach him to reach out with his mind and find them, but that it would take too long and they should just rob a bank instead, confusing Skywalker.[20]
The Imperial payroll garrison
Skywalker was unsure about Calip's plan, but he insisted that they needed to steal the money from the Imperial payroll garrison so they could buy the information about the shuttles from the secretary of the local sub-governor. Skywalker and Calip analyzed the defenses before she taught him the Guardian's Mantra, claiming he would become more powerful if he had the belief of the the priests who said that mantra. While saying the mantra, Skywalker took down Imperial droids with his lightsaber and barged into the garrison, though he lost his lightsaber in a flurry of blasterfire shot by turrets on the building, though Calip collected it. After an explosion rocked the building, Skywalker exited the building with a bag full of credits. He hugged Calip, saying that the Force was with him and she was right that he'd be able to do it despite his doubts. She said she was always right, which Skywalker said he'd remember.[21]
After escaping in an Imperial speeder, Skywalker expressed his delight that they could now buy information from Calip's source, but Calip instead suggested that they take the money for themselves. As Calip continued to discard Skywalker's insistences that he needed to find the patrol to save thousands of lives and stared to suggest that he would be a great thief, Skywalker started to believe that Calip was testing him as part of his training and insisted they find her source. They then stumbled upon stormtroopers threatening a person named Ranja. Skywalker wanted to take them down with his lightsaber, but Calip insisted that he would make things worse, causing Calip to sit down in frustration when Skywalker once again thought she was testing him. She explained that she had grown up on Jedha near the Temple of the Kyber and had seen the Guardians of the Whills perform miracles, but had also seen the Empire's atrocities afterward. When he asked about the Force, she instructed Skywalker to close his eyes and try to reach out and feel for it after explaining what it was. However, she was really using the opportunity to steal his lightsaber and run off, which Skywalker quickly realized, screaming out for her.[22]
Warba Calip
As he ran after Calip, C-3PO reached out to Skywalker via comm and informed him that the planet he and Chewbacca were supposed to destroy had turned out to be inhabited and that Vader had arrived. Skywalker got no response from the droid after and ran after Calip to get his lightsaber, realizing he needed it more than ever, but his attempts to reason with her by warning her people would die failed and she sped off in the speeder. The Rebels on Sergia then contacted Skywalker via R2-D2 and informed them that an Imperial transport had found them. Skywalker told them to stay under cover before stealing a stormtroopers speeder bike and leading the transport away, instructing the Rebels to evacuate while he did so. He then crashed the speeder bike into the transport and brought it down, stormtroopers chasing him through the desert until he ran into Calip in her speeder, who reluctantly gave Skywalker his lightsaber.[23] While deflecting the stormtroopers blasterfire with his lightsaber, Skywalker got in the speeder with Calip and they left, Skywalker joking that he used a Jedi mind trick on her and pointing out that in seemed like she was like his friend Solo and helping for more than just the money.[24]
K43
Stormtroopers chase after Skywalker and Calip on desert manglers.
Meanwhile, Darth Vader had discovered that Chewbacca was on the planet K43 in the Millennium Falcon.[20] He had realized it was a rebel trap for him and Imperial forces, but decided to use Chewbacca to trap Skywalker.[22] Skywalker commed Solo, telling the smuggler he had just been talking about him and was fleeing stormtroopers mounted on desert manglers, but Solo one-upped him and said he was trying to take down a star destroyer with a transport shuttle. After keeping the troopers away by swinging his lightsaber at them, Skywalker instructed Calip to have faith and bring the speeder to some rocks, where Skywalker used a grappling hook to bring down the rocks on top of the troopers. Skywalker then made it back to R2 and his X-wing, which Rebels had prepared and confirmed it was the right time for him to leave and avoid the Super Star Destroyer. Skywalker instructed them to take Calip and drop her on the next safe planet. When Skywalker revealed he was going to K43, Calip revealed that she didn't actually know much about the Force and hadn't really taught Skywalker anything, warning he would die if he went to face Vader. Skywalker said he still needed to go, and boarded his X-wing and took off while telling Calip that she was more than she seemed, and that he hoped they all were.[24]
While landing his X-wing on K43, the starfighter was hit by an electromagnetic pulse generated by the planet's natives, the Kakrans, in an attempt to combat Vader. As a result, the X-wing crashed and R2 was deactivated, leaving Skywalker worried and rattled as he noticed Vader approaching him with his red lightsaber ignited. However, Vader was attacked with a rock by Chewbacca before the Sith Lord could reach Skywalker.[24] After Chewbacca knocked Vader down into a chasm, Skywalker ran to his friend. Finding his lightsaber unable to activate, he decided to use a rock to bring an avalanche down on top of Vader while saying the Guardian's mantra, but ultimately caught caught in the rock slide and had to be saved from the dark lord's clutches by Chewbacca. Skywalker tried to get Chewbacca to abandon him and save himself as Chewbacca carried him and ran away from Vader and blasterfire shot by stormtroopers at the top of the chasm.[25]
Solo crashes the shuttle on K43.
As they ran, Solo crashed his shuttle down in front of them, Skywalker saying they needed to get Vader before Solo could even ask how he was doing. Organa then emerged from the ship shooting stormtroopers with another man, who Solo revealed was named Dar Champion when Skywalker asked. After learning that that Vader had been weakened by the electromagnetic pulse, Skywalker insisted they would never get a better chance to take him down so they all rushed at him while shooting at him until he threw them all down and back with the Force. After Vader ran off, Skywalker and the others started board the Falcon to evacuate the unstable planet, but remembering R2 was still on his X-wing, Skywalker ran to rescue the droid, telling the others he'd meet them in the air. C-3PO and the Kakrans then agreed that Skywalker was very thoughtful.[25]
Skywalker eventually reunited with R2-D2 at his X-wing, but Vader was there too, with his lightsaber ignited. Skywalker ignited his lightsaber too, but before they could duel, the ground beneath them collapsed, forcing Skywalker to jump in the X-wing as the planet was destroyed. As Skywalker flew his starfighter in the aftermath, he discovered that Vader had survived the event and watched with relief as the Star Destroyer the man was in jumped to lightspeed before Vader could hurt him. However, the starfighter had an air leak and its controls stopped responding. Skywalker was saved by the rebels from Sergia, including Calip who had refused to let the others go somewhere safe and insisted they rescue Skywalker. Skywalker told her that he had known she would come through. Later, on the Rebel fleet, which was now over the planet Hoth, Skywalker watched as Champion spoke to Rieekan and commented he was really good. Organa claimed the reason for this was that he had plans and didn't just show up and hope for the best like Solo, but Skywalker decided that was all you needed when you had friends as he watched with a smile as Calip pickpocketed someone.[25]

During Operation: Counterstrike, the prestigious Graf family partnered with the Nihil, specifically Tempest Runner Lourna Dee, to develop hyperspace technology. To persue their efforts, the Nihil offered to give scientist Chancey Yarrow access to the Oracle Mari San Tekka so that she could develop the gravity well projector that she had always wanted to develop. Yarrow successfully developed her gravity well projector in the form of a space station known as the Gravity's Heart in the Berenge sector. The station had the ability to pull starships out of hyperspace from all over the galaxy and bring them to the Berenge sector, and did so on a few occassions. After the station was discovered by a group of Jedi and destroyed by the Republic Defense Coalition, Yarrow took up work for the Grafs, who still wished to experiment with hyperspace.[26]
As part of Operation: Counterstrike, the Republic and Jedi engaged the Nihil on various fronts, including on the planets Carlac, Magaveene, and in the Dreighton Nebula. The Republic and Jedi also battled the Nihil in the Galov system, where the mauraders were attempting to take over the space station Relay Post Epsilon 1. The Jedi and the Republic won the battle, but the Nihil still managed to destroy the station.[27]
Operation: Counterstrike was a success, and after several missions and battles the Jedi and the Republic largely fractured and defeated the Nihil, leaving them running scared. One example of this was the Nihil Tempest Runner Kara Xoo, whose entire tempest was reduced to just those aboard her ship the Poisoned Barb. Kara Xoo started kidnapping children from the planet Dalna in an attempt to increase the Nihil's numbers and raise true Nihil who were passionate about the cause. Her efforts were discovered and stopped, however by Jedi stationed on Dalna and Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh. However, a Nihil scientist named Zadina Mkampa activated a crystalline power matrix that she had built with the help of the kidnapped kid inventor Avon Starros. The matrix was tied to the planet's crust, activating the planet's volcanic systems and causing a series of groundquakes and volcanic eruptions that threatened to destroy the planet and cover it in lava. In response to this and Xoo's attack on the Dalnan captial city of Saludad, the Dalnan evacuation was initiated. The Dalnan evacuation was when Starlight Beacon was towed to Dalna primarily by the Purgill-class starcruiser MPO-1400 Purgill-class star cruiser Halcyon, though with the help of other ships, so that all of Dalna's citizens could be evacuated to the station before they could be killed by the disasters caused by the Nihil. The evacuation was a success, and most of the people were saved.[28]
During this era, the planet Eiram also experienced a catastrophic cyclone natural disaster that devastated much of the planet. Starlight Beacon was subsequently towed by the Halcyon again to the planet to assist with the recovery and rebuilding of the planet.
With the Nihil largely scattered, Master Avar Kriss gathered a group of Jedi to pursue the Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee, who they mistakenly believed to be the Eye of the Nihil. Using a Nihil path engine that they recovered from the Battle of Grizal, the team of Jedi traveled aboard the Jedi starcruiser Ataraxia to the Great Hall of the Nihil in No-Space, which was the Nihil's main base. They fired at the Hall without provocation, which was unusual for Jedi, taking the Nihil by surprise. They then boarded the Hall and battled with the many Nihil stationed there, including Tempest Runner Zeetar, who Kriss killed by reflecting his flamethrower fire back at him. The Jedi were sent throughout the hall to secure various areas of it while Kriss went to find Dee. The Nihil were ordered to fire on the Hall and a group of their stormships did so, forcing the Jedi to have to save themselves and many Nihil from getting sucked out into space. Master Kriss confronted Lourna Dee, attacking her in a rage and engaging in lightsaber combat, before defeating her.[29] Kriss had to be talked down from killing a defenseless and defeated Dee in anger by Jedi Keeve Trennis. Kriss successfully captured Dee and detained her aboard the Ataraxia, planning to bring her back to Starlight Beacon. The Jedi left this critical battle with many Nihil prisoners onboard and believing they had defeated the organization.[30]
One of the most critical series of events during the High Republic Era would begin when Marchion Ro initiated a series of aerial attacks upon the planets Aleen, Yeksom, Japeal, and Tais Brabbo. The attacks caused a refugee crisis as many left those planets and go to Starlight Beacon and various Jedi Temples for help, though this was exactly the intended effect that Marchion Ro was hoping for. The Nihil attacked many of the Jedi temples that the refugees went to in order to send a message, including the Chespea Temple. Afterwards, Ro sent a team of three Nihil zealots on a mission to Starlight Beacon with the objective to sabotage the station and release powerful creatures onto the station known as the Nameless, which were the same species as the Great Leveler and acted as living weapons by affecting Jedi's connection to the Force. The presence of the Nameless on the station successfully disturbed the Jedi's connection to the Force, thus weakening them significantly as well as preventing them from discovering or sensing the coming danger.
The plan worked, and the infiltrators successfully caused an explosion on Starlight Beacon, which rocked its engineering station and caused an immense amount of radiation to be released that practically divided the station into two halves: upper and lower. Those on the lower half managed to establish communications outside of the station with the help of the small starship called the Vessel and its crew. However, the explosion had caused Starlight Beacon to start drifting towards the surface of Eiram, the planet it was orbiting which was still recovering from a brutal natural disaster. After the explosion took place, the Nameless were released onto the station, which generally weakened all of the Jedi and limited their ability to help. Many Jedi were also attacked and killed by the Nameless and turned into calcified husks just as Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm had been. However, Jedi Master and Starlight Head of Operations Estala Maru managed to singlehandedly hold the two halves of the station together with the force, all alone until Master Avar Kriss arrived and activated her network, connecting the Jedi on the station to help Maru. Meanwhile, Kriss's team of Jedi that had just returned from the Battle for No-Space helped rescue people on the top half of the station by leading them to the cruiser Ataraxia or to escape pods. But the Jedi eventually lost control of the Ataraxia when it was taken over by an escaped and rogue Lourna Dee.
Shortly after, even though there had been a great effort, the top half of the station would inevitably separate from the lower, and when it did quickly fell into the atmosphere of Eiram and burned up, killing all those who were left on board. Several disputes and conflicts occurred on the lower half of the station between the different groups of people that had different ideas of how to escape, causing violent situations and adding to the chaos. But Padawan Bell Zettifar managed to rig an explosion to separate the medical tower from the rest of the station, and get all of the patients in it to an Eiram medical vessel. Meanwhile, two former Nihil who had been prisoners on the station, Chauncey Yarrow, and engineering and technological genius, and Nan, a talented spy and informant who previously worked for Marchion Ro, discovered that they could prevent the station from crash landing on Eiram by activating its thrusters. The two accessed the controls and Yarrow managed to begin to use them to activate the thrusters. But Chauncey Yarrow was killed by Jedi Master Elzar Mann, who mistakenly believed that Yarrow was a Nihil saboteur. This prevented any hope of the station not crash landing on Eiram, and forced Jedi Master Stellan Gios had to manually control the thrusters so that Starlight Beacon would land in the ocean and not on the city. Many had received word of the disaster to the communications from the Vessel and had arrived to help, but were left helpless to watch the destruction of the station. Even though Master Gios sacrificed himself to have the station crash land in the ocean of the planet Eiram, enormous waves still rattled the coastal areas and the water purification plant was destroyed again, but the complete destruction of the city was prevented. The Jedi who had made it to the surface and survived helped with the rebuilding effort of the coastal areas of Eiram and its cities.
The Jedi of Starlight Beacon eventually traced the headquarters of the Nihil cell led by Krix Kamerat to the planet Dol'Har Hyde. The Republic and Jedi battled the cell in the air over Dol'Har Hyde, before a group of Jedi led a ground assault that led to the capture of Krix Kamerat.
Meanwhile, Marchion Ro had tasked Krix Kamerat and subsequently Sabata Krill with a long-term plan that began with leading a group of Nihil to the core world of corellia Corellia to steal a fleet of MP-1400 Purgill-class star cruisers and republic longbeams so that they could arrive at Starlight Beacon to appear as if they were helping and then bomb the station more. The Nihil slowly began to grow their influence on Corellia and brought more and more Nihil to the planet and spread the ideology to people on the planet with the help of Corellian elites like Nomar Tralmat. Sabata Krill and the cell deliberately stirred up a union dispute on Gus Talon by faking attacks by protestors, successfully drawing the Corellian jedi and Corseps away from Corellia and Coronet city. When the Nihil faced resistance from a group of Jedi and Corellian citizens their plan shifted to bombing the wreckage and surrounding areas of the Beacon's crash. However, the Jedi and the contingent Corellian citizens that they gathered fought the Nihil in a long battle before eventually managing to defeat the horde of Nihil that had been secretly brought to and infiltrated Corellia, and disabled or destroyed the star cruisers and longbeams that the Nihil planned to steal. With the leaders of the Nihil on Corellia dead or captured in the aftermath of the battle, and a large amount of the Nihil fighters killed, the Nihil cell on Corellia fell apart and scattered.
After the destruction of the beacon, Ro revealed himself to the galaxy in a broadcast in which he told the galaxy that he was the leader of the Nihil and outlined his goals. Chancellor Lina Soh wanted to strike back against the Nihil, after the destruction of the beacon and asked Jedi Council for help. In response to the Nihil's weaponization of the Nameless aboard Starlight Beacon, the Jedi sent out a recall beacon, urging all Jedi to leave the Outer Rim and come to Coruscant to keep them safe from the uniquely targeting threat. However, Soh and the Republic did send the Republic Defense Coalition Outreach Fleet to strike back against the Nihil and limit their power and influence in the Outer Rim. But unbeknownst the Republic, Marchion Ro had developed technology known as stormseeds. They had the power to destroy starships traveling in hyperspace through certain designated areas of the galaxy that they were activated in. Ro successfully used them against the Republic Defense Coalition Outreach Fleet and destroyed it. Ro managed to use the stormseeds to cut off ten Outer Rim sectors from the rest of the Republic. This changed the face of the galaxy, restricting Republic interference and presence in the outer rim and establishing the Nihil as the absolute controlling power in the Outer Rim during this time.

Keeve Trennis
Keeve Trennis was a human female Jedi Knight who lived during the High Republic Era. Originally the Padawan of the Trandoshan Jedi Master Sskeer, Trennis rose to the rank of Knight in 232 BBY after saving a city of diminuitive Ximpi on the planet Shuraden from space-faring ridadi. She found herself stationed aboard the newly-christened Starlight Beacon, a Republic space station that stood as a symbol of hope and prosperity in the Outer Rim Territories. Although she had great skills, Trennis harbored feelings of self-doubt while stationed on the Beacon. Nevertheless, she resolved to be the best Jedi she could be while in service to the Order.
An investigation Trennis performed with Sskeer, and the bond-twins Terec and Ceret lead them to the world Sedri Minor, where Ceret went missing. Trennis discovered that a boy named Julus was missing too, so Trennis followed Julus' friend Bartol into caverns beneath the planet's surface where they discovered the presence of the Drengir, who were a species of sentient amorphous carnivorous plant-like creatures. Jedi Master Avar Kriss arrived to help them, but then they were approached by Sskeer, who was now mind controlled by the Drengir. Trennis refused to believe that her former master was gone and managed to get through to him. Sskeer used his attachment to the Drengir to push the creatures away fro them with the force.
A confrontation with the Hutt Cartel lead Sskeer to to almost be overtaken by the influence of the Drengir, but Trennis approached Sskeer and managed to get through to him and help him resist. Sskeer told Trennis to perform a mind touch on him, and therefore convince the Drengir he was connected to that they shouldn't eat people. Trennis did so, and it worked, but it also sent Sskeer into a comatose state. Refusing to give up on Sskeer, Trennis eventually joined him in the Drengir root-mind and together discovered the location of the Great Progenitor, the leader of the Drengir. Trennis suffered horrifying visions because of it, but it allowed the Jedi to perform an assault against the Progenitor, alongside the Hutts, who had made an alliance with the Jedi, which resulted in the capture of the creature.
The victory would be short lived as the Republic Fair on Valo was destroyed by the organization of mauraders known as the Nihil during the assault. Believing that the Jedi Council was not doing enough to stop the Nihil, Trennis would form a plan headed by Marshal Avar Kriss that would see Trennis and Terec going undercover within the Nihil. The plan was successful for a short time, until on the planet Xais the Jedi's former ally, the captured Hutt Myarga, revealed Trennis and Terec's true idenities. Trennis and Terec fought back, but would be defeated by Tempest Runner Lourna Dee, who unleashed the Great Leveler on them. Trennis had horrifying and terrifying visions due to the attack, and was left at the mercy of the Nihil until Sskeer and Kriss arrived and rescued her.
