Magaveene^[6] was a terrestrial astronomical object^[5] located in^[4] the Prefsbelt sector's^[3] Magaveene system^[4] as part of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories^[1] and New Territories,^[2] situated in grid square K-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.^[1] In 231 BBY,^[7] during the High Republic Era, Magaveene was one of the locations where the Republic Defense Coalition engaged the Nihil marauder organization as part of Operation: Counterstrike, a joint Galactic Republic and Jedi Order effort to strike back at the group following the Valo Atrocity.^[5] Jedi Master Avar Kriss participated in the battle, and Starlight Beacon administrator Velko Jahen oversaw the deployment of a drift of Jedi Vectors led by^[4] Jedi Knight^[6] Nooranbakarakana to the Magaveene system to assist Kriss.^[4] Later, during a Republic Defense Coalition briefing on Starlight Beacon shortly before the Battle of Galov, Kriss referenced their engagement with the Nihil on Magaveene as an example of the ongoing success of Operation: Counterstrike.^[5]

Magaveene was first mentioned in the audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner by Cavan Scott,^[5] released on August 31, 2021^[8] as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.^[9] The exact spelling of its name was unconfirmed^[5] until its star system was mentioned in the first part of Scott's short story "Starlight: Past Mistakes,"^[4] released on September 21, 2021,^[10] also as part of Phase I.^[9]
