- "No one else dies today, Pee-Three. Not if I have anything to do with it. Not if I can be their shield."
- ―Silandra Sho during the Battle of Jedha, to P3-7A
Silandra Sho was a human female Jedi Master of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. She carried a shield which she preferred to use in combat over her lightsaber, emphasizing her personal philosophy. Sho headed a Republic Pathfinder team, which consisted of Padawan Rooper Nitani, pilot Dietrix Jago, medic Obik Dennisol, and the droids EX-9B and GT-11.[1]
Biography
Sometime prior to 382 BBY,[6] Silandra trained Peleth as her Padawan learner. However, Peleth died during a dangerous mission and her loss affected Silandra deeply.[4] Years later, she took Rooper Nitani as her apprentice and the two became a formidable team, sharing many adventures as Pathfinders exploring the Galactic Frontier. Rooper, who had joined the Jedi Order too young to remember her family, came to regard her master as the closest thing to a mother in her life and strove to make Silandra proud.[1]
In 382 BBY,[2] Silandra and her team travelled to the remote planet Aubadas in the Dalnan sector in response to a distress signal from the missing Pathfinder team led by Jedi Master Rok Buran. Their mission took them to Aubadas's forbidding twin planet, Gloam, where they discovered that Master Buran's team had been betrayed by the Katikoot Rillik and killed by the undead Gloam monsters, with Rok himself the sole survivor.[1]
Following this adventure, Silandra left Rooper on Batuu and undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy City on the Jedha during the Season of Light, arriving just in time for the Festival of Balance. On the request of her friend, Master Creighton Sun, she carried out an investigation into a bomb attack on the peace talks between delegates of the warring planets Eiram and E'ronoh, assisted by a young adjunct of the Church of the Force named Keth Cerepath, which led her to an almshouse operated by the Path of the Open Hand, a mysterious cult which opposed the Jedi Order and all others who used the Force. She spoke to the Path's leader, the Mother, but departed after experiencing the disorienting effects of the Leveler.[5]
Silandra Sho
When the E'roni ambassador Tintak was assassinated by a member of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door, secretly on the orders of the Path and its ally, Tilson Graf, Silandra fought in the ensuing Battle of Jedha. After another near-fatal encounter with the Leveller, from which she was rescued by Keth's droid P3-7A, she accompanied the Mother through the battlefield and debated her on the opposing philosophies of the Path and the Jedi. At the height of the conflict, she faced the Brotherhood's leader, Mytion, in single combat, and defeated him thanks to the sacrifice of Keth Cerepath.[5]
Following the battle, Silandra visited the Enlightenment taproom to share the story of Keth's brave sacrifice with his mourning friends before departing Jedha to rejoin Rooper on Batuu.[5] However, Silandra instead found herself drawn into the battle between the Jedi and the Path on Dalna, where she fought in space against the mercenary spacers hired by the Path, and ran into Rooper aboard the starship Brightbird alongside her friends Dass Leffbruk, Sky Graf and the captive Path member Fel Ix.[7]
After the battle and the dispersal of the Path, Silandra interviewed Fel Ix and helped him to reunite with his family before departing with Rooper to rejoin their Pathfinder team for further adventures.[7] Around 377 BBY,[8] Sho, Nitani, and P3-7A captured Ullan Yite, the leader of the Bright Circle criminal faction, and prevented a deal between the Circle and pirates.[9]
Powers and abilities
Sho wields her lightsaber.
As a Jedi Master, Silandra Sho was strong in the Force and capable of using it to accomplish a variety of effects. She was particularly adept at using her telekinetic abilities to remotely guide her shield, which enabled her to use it as a non-lethal weapon in combat as well as to defend herself and others. She could also use the Force to enhance her physical strength and speed and to jump great distances, as demonstrated when she visited the lost city of the Katikoot on Gloam.[1]
Although she preferred to use her shield, Silandra was also a proficient combatant with the Jedi lightsaber, as demonstrated when she fought with Mytion of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door during the Battle of Jedha.[5]
Equipment
Silandra wore the hard-wearing mission attire of Jedi who served on Pathfinder teams in the time of the High Republic. Aside from her blue-bladed lightsaber, Silandra Sho's most notable piece of equipment was her shield, a unique weapon which generated panels of energy in a golden frame, capable of stopping a lightsaber and deflecting blaster bolts. The shield reflected Silandra's view that the first duty of a Jedi knight was to be a shield who protected others.[1]
