- "I was a fully credentialled sava–a scholar and teacher–at the University of Bar'leth, smack in the middle of the bright, shining Core."
- ―The Archivist
Bar'leth was a planet[10] located in the galaxy's Core Worlds, in grid square M-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The University of Bar'leth[5] and the Museum of Bar'leth[3] were located on Bar'leth.[5] In the time before the founding of the Galactic Republic, Bar'leth was the hiding place of the Ascendant, until the Sith Darkseekers tracked down and destroyed the cult in their Tomb of the Spark Eternal. In the following years, the Museum of Bar'leth was built over the site of the tomb, its secrets all but forgotten.[6][11]
Early in the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Grand Inquisitor and Iskat Akaris visited Bar'leth to retrieve a Sith artifact. Akaris, who had been to Bar'leth during her time as a Padawan, noted the planet had not changed significantly under the Empire's rule.[7]
