Need help

Hey Tope. While I was doing some archiving on the CAN page I accidentally archived the Unidentified Sullustan Jedi (battle droids) nom, which had an outstanding objection from Supreme Emperor that I failed to see. I contacted him and he says the objection is dealt with, and I was told to ask a beurecrat to get the objection struck. If you could do that that would be great. See ya. Forum post archived

Can I ask why my post on the administrator noticeboard has been archived so quickly? Rokkur Shen (talk) 05:04, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

  • Because it quickly became evident that the forum had turned into nothing but an unproductive pissing match of he said-she said. You posted your complaint against the administrator in question, and the community has taken note. There's really nothing left that needs to be said. You asked "Where do we go from here?" Well, you're welcome to try your hand at a RFRA request, though I wouldn't recommend it. I can pretty much guarantee that would fail miserably. I suggest you both get over it and try to move on from this. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:35, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

Inq reviewing tutorial

Hey Tope. As per discussion at Inq Meeting 56, I've started to write a draft for what will eventually become the Inquisitorius' tutorial guide for new reviewers. It can be accessed here. I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on it recently, so there are still some sections that have yet to be written, but I've started off with trying out some basic organization with the current sections. Please feel free to jump in, either by writing new stuff for the guide or commenting on/adjusting what's already there.

Every current member of the Inq will eventually have to approve the guide in its entirety, so getting involved with its development would be great, sooner rather than later. The talk page can be used to discuss ideas about organization, sectioning, content, you name it. Let me know if you have any questions, and your contributions are appreciated! WP:VG milestone

Good day, gamers! WookieeProject Video Games has reached a new milestone. The members of WP:VG have taken 100 articles to Comprehensive status! The 100th article was Inspector-General, from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II in-game databank. The full list of articles can be seen here. WP:VG and its members can be proud of the accomplishments we have made. As we near the two year mark of this ambitious project, we look back and see all the great progress and improvements we have made to Wookieepedia as a whole and the video game aspect of the wiki in particular. Most of these 100 articles would have probably been lost in the shuffle had it not been for the hard work, dedication, and patient perceptiveness of the users who comprise WP:VG. Out of all the current WookieeProjects, WookieeProject Video Games has the second highest amount of Comprehensive articles to its name. I would like to say good work and congratulations to all the members of WP:VG. Keep up the excellent job, and May the Force be with the Gamers!—Cal JediInfinite Empire (Personal Comm Channel) 20:41, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

Naming policy question

Hey what's up, I have a question in need of some clarification in reference to your earlier edit on Coruscant Underworld Police. Both Shadows and the TCW Episode Guide capitalize the name but there is no other difference in reference to the name in the SWE. (The Episode Guide was the first to capitalize by the way so I made the change in the article.) My question is: So based off of your edit, a change in capitalization requires a 1stID tag even with something so simple? I couldn't find any clarification on IDing capitalization, one way or the other, from the naming policy or other policies. I'm looking at the sources section and it looks kind of strange to have two sources next to each both saying 1stID the only difference being capitalization. If you could clarify that would be great, thanks! Coruscantfan (Talk) 22:50, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yep that makes sense, thanks for clarifying. I'm not exactly sure how exactly it can be worded but we may want to add that to the policy to avoid future confusion and make the "tradition" standard practice. Coruscantfan (Talk) 01:46, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Vandalism

I usually give the benefit of the doubt in most cases, although there have been a few times when I didn't see past my own POV and jumped to conclusions. In this case, I had been contemplating a template I constructed for the FFG Star Wars games, and asked for help on the talk page for ideas on how to get minimizing "Hides" to work for each section. I put a rather good effort into making the template, but realize that if it needs to be split, then so be it. However, I would like to try, at least, to get it to work first. However, Thunderforge has immediately stated his request to have the community consider voting for a split. I agree that a consensus to split it would definitely resolve this matter, however, the only voters on the issue are him and me. Today, he took it upon himself to decide the weight of the vote and unilaterally change the template and all of the articles that use it. I may be wrong, but that seemed a bit presumptuous. However, at your counsel, I will consider that I may have jumped the gun and that, perhaps, he is unaware of the procedures regarding consensus. I will give him the benefit of the doubt from this point going forward in respects to referring to his edits as "vandalism." —GethralkinHyperwave 00:23, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

  • Okay, my mistake. I presumed from his proposing to split the template when I had establish the desire to keep it, that a consensus was being called for. If that is not the case, then I definitely will call for a consensus to be reached concerning this issue. Thanks. —GethralkinHyperwave 00:52, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

Consensus

Since I have never done this aspect of editing on Wookieepedia (not enough that I consider to raise a voting issue over), I am not anxious to just create a Forum page without doing it correctly. Is there an editing procedure to create a single issue vote that I should follow? —GethralkinHyperwave 01:04, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

Moving pages

Hey sorry about moving that page about Shak Ti yesterday. It was a total fail on my part. Fe Nite (talk) 17:33, July 14, 2013 (UTC)

Closing Tc

Hey, Tope. After going over your comments, I agree with your assessment that this was not the correct forum choice, I just chose poorly. Sorry about that. Also, I will try harder to keep a civil tongue (er, uh, keyboard?) for future discussion. After reviewing yours and other comments, I also see that CT is not really the best choice for template change decision, but I really do feel that some consensus with those not in IRC to understand what is at stake should take place. So, at the very least, I am interested in keeping consensus to Talk pages, where if there are no objections to suggestions made, then changes can proceed. I also do not want to hold up progress, but I also feel that changing templates that work and that editors are already comfortable with, should not be done simply because a single editor has a personal preference that he/she feels takes precedent over the interests of other Wookieepedia members. Maybe I am not expressing it correctly, but does this make any sense to you? —GethralkinHyperwave 04:40, July 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, check out Trip's comment and my questions for him on the Tc. He is indicating that Thunderforge lied about getting IRC consensus for the move. —GethralkinHyperwave 09:26, July 15, 2013 (UTC)
    • Let me clarify: He isn't saying Tf is lying, but he is contradicting Tf's statements that consensus was reached on IRC for moving the template, and saying that the IRC was not for the move, but for asking for a bot to fix the redirects. —GethralkinHyperwave 09:29, July 15, 2013 (UTC)
      • Gethralkin, at this point I don't plan on contributing to the discussion on that forum any further. I will say this: I have no interest in siding either with you or Thunderforge on this matter, though it's clear to me that you still haven't really gotten it that this entire episode you have instigated is and continues to be ridiculous and unnecessary. You appear to believe now that you think you've caught Thunderforge in a "lie," for lack of a better word, that your original point has somehow been re-galvanized or rejustified, when it has not. Whether Thunderforge indeed lied or not, he is nevertheless not required to seek formal or informal approval from the community before making minor changes to the wiki, which I would absolutely classify moving a template from "GG" to "Galaxy Guides" as. If he is guilty of anything, it's misleading us on what transpired over IRC, which I figure was done out of defensiveness after your accusations of his wrongdoing, so I kind of can't blame the guy. This episode should never have become what it is, and that you continue to prosecute it is to your discredit, in my opinion. At this point, this TC vote is nothing more than a subjective community census on whether we think the template should be named "GG" or "Galaxy Guides," a decision that, because of how minor it is, should have no bearing on it based on what Thunderforge did or did not do. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:43, July 15, 2013 (UTC)
        • Understood. I actually had requested the closing of the Tc after your bringing it up. The issue I was fundamentally having was the restructuring that was planned and seemingly begun without consensus. However, I didn't properly separate that from the simple issue of the template redirect like I should have. As far as catching Tf in anything, I really don't know who was telling the truth, but I felt IRC was not visible proof enough for using in conjunction with this discussion as the basis for beginning a project of changing templates that don't agree with a single editor's personal preferences. However, I should have kept that off the Tc page and left it for a separate discussion. Sorry about that. I agree it was a mess, and for that I apologize. Not my area of expertise this consensus and voting stuff, but I felt something needed to be done to prevent wide-spread changes from happening suddenly and without easy reversion available. I just should have used the Tc to do it. Culator has suggested I refresh myself on WP:POINT, and I will do that. —GethralkinHyperwave 19:25, July 15, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Spam

Sorry. I was unaware that I did something that was inappropriate. I had been informed that inviting to a consensus was appropriate if done without attempting "vote farming," or as was explained to me, the garnering of support for my own voting position. I was also told that what was inappropriate was to rally support for one or other side of a decision, not the actual inviting to a consensus. I would like more to be aware of the consensus so that voting can be done without it being slanted by certain voters that may or may not be voting on the issue simply to side opposite of my stance (yeah, I realize I'm not popular right now) or for a friend (who may or may not be on the opposite side of my voting stance). How does that happen appropriately? —GethralkinHyperwave 04:57, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

  • Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for the information. —GethralkinHyperwave 05:11, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

CT Discussion

By the way, I revised the issue to specifically omit that each change needed a consensus on each talk page. As long as a consensus on a project is reached prior to that project launching, then that would appropriate, as is currently happening over here. I support that type of template change, but not major sweeping changes that are made without notice or community planning. In any case, the "per each template" is removed. —GethralkinHyperwave 05:05, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

  • Regarding the maintenance template restructure discussion, Sageleader is doing a fantastic job of making a comprehensive analysis of each template he plans to involve in the project, as well as list in detail the changes he is suggesting. With the completion of the list, he states that he will present it for review to the editing community for consensus for implementation. —GethralkinHyperwave 05:11, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

SL

He apparently "used to be a big Wikipedia editor." Just have his word for it since he doesn't provide any wiki links, but he doesn't have any contributions earlier than July 4th of this year on WP. I became aware of his project because I was trying to figure out (in the middle of the Tc mess) where I needed to put that issue. His thing was on the SH and "Template" was in the title. Even though he hasn't been here long, he seems to be using the Be Bold policy the way it needs to be used (well barring the verify stuff on his talk page). Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be any connection with Tf if that's what you are referring to. Both of their writing styles are different and while Tf hinted in SH discussion that he was interested in how to name templates (but then took the responses and used that as a reason to begin changing existing ones), SL laid out a proposal for change and seems to be listening to community input regarding the changes. I also like that he is using a spreadsheet table design to show which templates are in question. It looks nifty, so I have an idea he has some skill in wiki layout design. Too bad I didn't know about him when I was having trouble collapsing multiple sections in a navbox. From what I have seen him talk about, he probably knows how to do stuff like that. So, I feel more confident in him proposing a major overhaul of the templates, than in an editor who starts making changes without telling anyone. —GethralkinHyperwave 06:03, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

Point taken

That CT post was actually the final edit I was making there. I also feel nothing more needs to be said and I see the point that the outlines were too restrictive improve policy and would actually throttle it. Didn't see it before but I do now. Although I have my personal views, I am fine with "No policy" as I should be since this a consensus representing the collective will of the editing community. As for the other matter, I have no intention of saying anything more on it, and would not have even posted what I did had not the issue kept coming up. —GethralkinHyperwave 20:33, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

Talk page policy and off-topic posts

Hey Tope. Following the failure of the talk page policy CT earlier this month, I have modified the proposed policy based on the feedback received therein. The most notable change was the redefining of off-topic posts as posts that can be removed without archiving. As a compromise between the majority opinion that we should not be forced to keep the posts and the minority that says removing them can be harmful, I have included a footnote suggesting, but in no way requiring, that users consider leaving the post in place if circumstances allow. All changes made between the closure of the previous CT can be seen in this diff.

As you were one of the most vocal opponents of the previous proposal, I would like your opinion on the revised proposal, located at User:Master Jonathan/Talk page policy, before starting a new CT. I am also asking Menk, who was the one of the most vocal supporters of not removing off-topic posts, for his feedback as well to get opinions from both sides. Thanks in advance. —MJ— Training Room 01:52, July 26, 2013 (UTC)

Battle of Tralus

I would like to have your opinion about another thing. The Battle of Tralus. I don't find any mention of the 6 ABY placement in all the sources mentioned in the page. However both involved Grand Admirals' featured articles places their death in 6 ABY. And the Essential Guide to Warfare places this battle in 5 ABY... Hk 47 (talk) 00:30, July 27, 2013 (UTC)

  • Sounds to me like those Grand Admiral pages need to be changed. May I ask which ones they are? Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 00:32, July 27, 2013 (UTC)

Nintendo Power Issue 173 deletion

Hi.

I'm not sure how Nintendo Power Issue 173 was warranted a deletion. It featured Rebel Strike on the cover, and it even gave coverage on it. Last I checked, that was notability enough for it to be on this wiki. I honestly don't understand how that's not notable enough to belong on there. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 00:40, August 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • So what? Are we going to create articles for TIME and Rolling Stone magazine now too because they feature Star Wars characters on the cover and have Star Wars feature stories inside? There's a big difference between LFL-licensed material and third-party things like Nintendo game magazines. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 00:45, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
    • There's little difference, actually, because they both cover Star Wars, which is notable enough, and which this Wiki is supposed to do (cover everything that directly relates to Star Wars). The only differences I can perceive is whether they cover them at all (especially directly) or not. For example, I would not in my right mind make an article on the Bible or William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet on this wiki precisely BECAUSE they do not cover (directly) Star Wars. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 00:51, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
      • There's so much wrong with what you just said there, I'm just going to pick on one line. "this Wiki is supposed to do (cover everything that directly relates to Star Wars)." No. In fact, that is not what this wiki does. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:08, August 2, 2013 (UTC)

Oku schmoku

I hope you realize I'm not just trying to be a butt with the Oku nomination. Based on the association with Figg, I honestly thought it might be possible to put some date, however vague, on the article, but after a couple of hours poring over my source material, I've found that that's not the case. :/ I was hurt by your comment that you didn't want to discuss things anymore, though, because it sounded to me like perhaps you assumed I'm not reviewing the article in good faith. I assure you I am, though, and hopefully we'll be able to smooth past the last few issues soonish. I think it's cool you nominated an alien, and I didn't want you to think I was being hard on you for anything other than my trying to make sure the article is as good as it can be! Thanks, ~SavageBOB sig 01:14, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

  • Well, Bob, I'm sorry if I've hurt your feelings. You've succeeded quite effectively at getting under my skin with this review. I think the level to which you have and are continuing to prosecute some of these objections goes above and beyond ridiculous. I realize you're doing your best, but I find the majority of these objections to be silly to the point that I feel like you're trying to get me to insert what amounts to fanon into the article. I find it disrespectful that I tell you something is false and shouldn't go into the article, yet you proceed to argue with me about it for four days until I can dig up some unrelated third-party source material to show you doubly why it's wrong, as if you think I don't know what I'm doing. This ain't my first rodeo, Bob. At any rate, I do appreciate your conciliatory gesture here, and I'll try my best on my end to reach a satisfactory compromise. Thanks. The Electric Company Magazine

Why would The Electric Company Magazine be a page for nonsense? -- LegalizeAnythingMuppets (talk) 03:47, September 4, 2013 (UTC)

  • Well, don't take the "nonsense" bit personal. It's one of our default deletion reasons to choose from. It would be more accurate to call it "non-notable." We don't maintain articles for anything and everything that relates to Star Wars. More mainsteam magazines like TIME and Rolling Stone have probably written dozens or hundreds of articles relating to Star Wars over the years, but we don't have articles for them. As a general rule, articles need to have some connection to Lucasfilm licensing. A Sesame Street magazine doesn't really come close to qualifying. Image

Can you please undelete that image? I only just found it and was planning on inserting it only to have an edit war started by Cade Calrain. Bo Shuda (talk) 04:21, September 7, 2013 (UTC)

  • There is really no reason to ever use that specific version. If you plan to use that image, you should reupload a new version without the BTM program border. I know it's possible to extract the program's image files. If you don't know how to do that, you might consider asking someone who does to grab the image for you. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:23, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
    • Actually, it may be easier if you undelete it so that I can crop it and reupload it. Bo Shuda (talk) 04:30, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
      • The print screen image quality is still too poor, in my opinion. You might as well just upload the extracted program file, which will be of superior quality. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:33, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
        • Well, that's extremely unhelpful. I don't own the program myself. I'm assuming that this Cade guy's had a whinge via IRC to have it removed simply because he didn't agree with my edits? Bo Shuda (talk) 04:35, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
          • No, not at all. The image was lucky to even have survived this long on account of our Image policy, and it's unfair to blame Cade Calrayn in that manner. JMAS and Darth Culator both have BTM extraction capabilities. You're welcome to try them. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:39, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
            • No thanks. I'll just go about concentrating on something else. This has already become more trouble than it's worth. Hopefully he can mind his own business and leave me alone in the future. Bo Shuda (talk) 04:43, September 7, 2013 (UTC)

A Request for Another Wiki

Hi! I'm El Alamein, and I'm not from around this Wiki, but I'd like your expertise nonetheless. My Wiki is the Deadliest Fiction Wiki, which creates fights to the death between characters of fiction - and one I plan to host is General Grievous vs. Lord Voldemort of Harry Potter fame. One of the biggest topics of debate concerning this fight is magic vs. lightsabers. Lightsabers have been proven capable of deflecting lasers from blaster rifles and also other lightsabers, so the question is whether or not Grievous could protect himself with his lightsabers from a spell shot from Voldemort's wand. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could shed some light on the mysterious properties that physically make up lightsabers in the Star Wars universe to better assist us in our analysis. Thank you for your time. El Alamein (talk) 22:55, September 16, 2013 (UTC)

Force Collection

Hey, Tope. I was wondering how you were tackling the issue of two Force Collection cards with identical names. For example, there are two Lachichuk cards, both simply called "Lachichuk." One of them has new canon info and the other does not. The only distinguishing feature of their names seems to be how many stars each one has, so this was my solution. Have you come across something like this? If so, let me know so that I can standardize it. Thanks. Menkooroo (talk) 03:45, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I noticed I was going to run into that eventually, and I've been considering how I was going to handle it. I was planning on just doing something like "(2 stars)," but what you have there is even better. I'll follow suit with that. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 03:47, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Denta

And what may I ask makes American English better than British English? Wookieepedia uses it in several articles. I don't see why it should be "or" instead of the right way "our". I thought I did confirm it?

I read a pdf of the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook. In its entry on sublight drives, it mentions nuclear fission, and I added a line to show that. Can I remove the tag, because I can't get a PDF of Alien Encounters.Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 22:18, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

  • You don't confirm something by saying "Oh, look, I found it. Ok, confirmed." You need to demonstrate to us that the information is real. Uploading a PDF is a good way to do this. Another way is to cite page numbers or actual lines of text from the source items in which you claim the subject appears. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 22:24, October 24, 2013 (UTC)

Kesin Ommis

While you're in the middle of editing that article, I'd suggest also adding the Hasbro art with the mustache added, at least in the Behind the scenes section. Also, if the original Decipher image is out there -- even if it's only the Ommis image -- I think that should be there, too, just to give people a visual for which character he WAS. But using the action figure for the main image makes sense. --JMM (talk) 14:07, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Creating articles

I don't know where you got the idea that I left any "mess" to clean up. Yes, the article was incomplete, but I added what I could within the available time I had. The "cleanup" tag was added so that people know that the article was incomplete and in need of more information. Would you rather I had done nothing at all? The wiki is an ongoing collaborative effort, if I left the article that way there is nothing that stops me or anyone else to add for information to it later on. Alexrd (talk) 19:47, December 17, 2013 (UTC)

  • You failed to explain what's exactly wrong with adding what I could with the time I had and work more on it later on. The article needed to be created either way, and there is nothing that stops you or anyone else to add more information to it nor I see any rule that determines that a certain amount of information needs to be in the article for it to be created (specially when it's an ongoing work). To call someone lazy because they don't have enough time to complete an article or to claim that I'm expecting others to work for me is not only unnecessarily arrogant but fallacious as well, specially coming from someone part of the staff. Once again, I did what I could with the time I had. The information I added followed the manual of style. You could have made a simple warning to expand on the article whenever I can, instead of making false claims. Alexrd (talk) 22:53, December 17, 2013 (UTC)

Question

Hi, I noticed you undid my edit on the WookieeNews page. I changed it because I could not find any source anywhere that stated Star Wars: Attack Squadrons would be released in 2014. All I found was sites saying that the beta would start in early 2014. It is assumed because the beta is coming then, that the game will be released in 2014 as well. However, there are no official sources or reputable news sites that state this.

Perhaps I missed one? Did you guys find a source stating so? -- 01:42, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

  • Your information was correct, but you left a punctuation error on the news page, and I recognized that the information could have been presented more succinctly in one sentence, so I reverted it and rewrote it. The Main Page is effectively our number one showcase to the public, so we mercilessly make sure that it is presented as professionally as possible. Nothing personal. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:49, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, alright. I didn't see you rewrite it. No harm done. Thanks for the fast response. -- 01:54, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Hosh Hune

Hey, Tope. I'm not normally one to make review requests, but is there any chance you could take a look at Hosh Hune's GAN? Since you wrote Tarrin Datch, I figure that you could let me know if the article is missing any (Picture only)s or indirect appearances, or if there's any more info about what Rogue Ten did in the Battle of Hoth. That is, your review would definitely ensure that the article is complete. Let me know! Thanks. Menkooroo (talk) 04:21, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

  • Edit: I'm getting the impression that most of the indirect appearances and/or mentions of Datch are either from the briefing scene or from when he went to check out Echo Station 3-8, and thus not applicable to Hosh, but the two Starships and Vehicles ones seem to me like they're probably pictures of the snowspeeder attacking Veers's walker, which would be fair game for Hosh too. Menkooroo (talk) 04:28, December 22, 2013 (UTC)
  • Also, to clarify, I'm not asking you to look through every single appearance and mention of Datch(!). I've already confirmed that it's the Echo Station 3-8 thing for the various novelizations, the marvel comic, radio drama, Annotated Screenplays, etc --- I guess I'm just wondering if you can confirm the Starships and Vehicles things aaaaand I guess the ESB Storybook. Phew! OK, I'm done now. Menkooroo (talk) 04:34, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

New Years resolution

My New Years resolution is to make a lot less articles and all around contributions to this wiki. I will only be creating pages for any NOTABLE products such as the upcoming Star Wars Clone Wars mag, stuff of that ilk, and to update released products.Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 03:54, December 30, 2013 (UTC)

Response

Well as I may have said to you earlier, as soon as that ball drops in 40 minutes, you will see very little of me. I will only be contributing on new products etc. "Me and several other users are watching your every move like a hawk, and I will personally block you". I didn't know I lived in an Orwellian police state. I'm not perfect and I am bound to make mistakes, but my only desire is to make this the best wiki it can possibly be. Without breaking the personal attacks rule, I am just appalled how I have been bullied and criminalized like I am no better than a joker who vandalizes articles. You and others like Trip341 want nothing better than to force me off this wiki and keep me from embracing my love of Star Wars. Thanks a lot and Happy New Year.Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 04:25, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

  • Pickle, I have exactly zero sympathy for you. Your entire talk page is a laundry list of warnings and notices from one user or another trying to get you to figure out how things work here, and you seem completely unwilling or unable to even try to fix your mistakes. No one is criticizing you for making mistakes; we are criticizing you for failing to correct them. No one is bullying you or trying to force you off the wiki, but when you make the same kind of mistake over and over again even after other users repeatedly instruct you how to fix them, that's when we have a problem. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:32, January 1, 2014 (UTC)
    • I just seem to always make a mistake. I have listened to you but if you look more closely at my "laundry list" their are a lot of different things that I have done. I don't always make the same violation over and over again. I was told to add an era to my page and I will do that from now on. I don't have Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka at my fingertips so I trusted this wiki. Some articles that I have made that have been declared non-notable or that this wiki is not an English dictionary is subjective. I thought a page on temporal dilation would be good, so I guess I was wrong. I apologize. I will be less active as I have schoolwork to do.Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 04:52, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

KrisEike

Hello,

Not sure if i'm doing this right but i'll give it a shot..

I'm in the process of making my own Star wars costume, for a Gray jedi, and i'm writing the lore for the character now. I was wondering if there is a "non-canon" area i can save it in, so that people can visit the page and read about it, but still know that it isn't part of the original star wars storyline? I really like the layout for Wookieepedia's sith/jedi's and i've decided to go with the exact same layout, but when i tried to make my own Wikia, and paste the source code into a page there, it didn't work properly.. So i'm hoping there is a place i can save it here.

Perhaps you have a suggestion on where i can put it? :)

I'm not going to argue with you. I have put a deletion log tag on the article for the bomb. If you read the caption for the demolition charge, it clearly indicates it is a bomb that is used in combat. I don't know what else to do? Its obvious you don't care for me, when all I do is try to improve this wiki. Anybody can tell its an explosive, but yes I do not have the game and cannot tell what this bomb was used for. For all I know, Satele Shan used it to bring in the New Year. I however fell that I'm in a strict 1830's German school. If it weren't for my OCD and love of Star Wars, I'd leave this wiki immediately.Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 04:55, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

reversion policy

Hello, Toprawa. I am not quite certain how to approach this. You're a valuable long-time contributor to and admin on this site, so it flummoxes me that I need to raise the issue at all. But you seem to be exhibiting a pattern of disregarding a fundamental reversion policy: "When a revert is necessary, it is very important to let people know why you reverted."

It first came to my attention that you reverted a handful of my recent edits with no explanation (in any of the edit summaries, the respective talk pages, or my talk page). Not wanting to jump to the conclusion that I was being singled out, I examined your history of recent reversions. In none of the past 1 2 3 4 5 6 good-faith (i.e. non-vandalism) edits you reverted did you provide an explanation to the user whose edits were reverted. (In the 7th case, you did post to the user's talk page; this was after an edit war had gone on for a few days.) In some cases it was obvious to me why you did the reversion, but policy still requires a reason be given; logically, the reason would not be obvious to the user whose edits were reverted, or the user would not have made the edits in the first place (again, excepting vandalism).

I find it difficult to credit that an experienced administrator would either be unaware of Wookieepedia policy or purposefully choose to unilaterally flout it, but at first blush it appears one of those is the case. Assuming good faith, however, I will take it there is a third option that has not occurred to me. Thus, as a first step, I am reaching out to you individually to find out what that might be. Thank you for your help; I leave in peace. Asithol (talk) 11:43, January 16, 2014 (UTC)

  • Yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, but Help:Reverting isn't a policy page. So, as much as you'd like to manufacture some evidence of impropriety against me, I am under no certain obligation to do anything of what you suggest above, nor are the 25 other users with Rollback privileges, all of whom regularly utilize the quick-reversion feature without manually leaving an explanation. I know your real reason for taking such an interest in my reversion history is because, as you say, I've reverted you on a number of instances without explanation in the edit summary, so naturally you're wondering why. You could have just asked instead of accusing me of acting in bad form and/or being ignorant of policy. The reason I reverted you in such instances as this is because the Wookieepedia community has demonstrated a stark division of preference when it comes to the formatting of short stories, etc., which has resulted in a CT forum of no-consensus. Therefore, it is considered bad form to try to impose one method over another, as you started doing across multiple articles, which is why I reverted the articles back to their original versions. Before you go defensive on me, I've giving you the benefit of the doubt that you were unaware of these prior community discussions. The next time you accuse me, another administrator, or any other user of violating or being ignorant of policy, I suggest you take some time to learn what actually is and isn't policy on this wiki, lest we have another one of these unfortunate incidents. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 20:52, January 16, 2014 (UTC)
    • Hi, Tope. Thank you for your reply. I am unsure why you think that I'd "like to manufacture some evidence of impropriety." Quite the opposite: I was hoping to not find impropriety, and, as I said in my initial message, was rather surprised to find what seemed to indicate such. I also do not know why you took my message as an accusation, since I stated that I was seeking an explanation, and hoping for one that did not bear out my suspicions. I respect and value your contributions to this wiki, though I honestly can't say the same of the tone you took in your reply. I would prefer to have a civil discussion (which is policy). If you are amenable to such, I would like to start by asking for some clarification about what constitutes policy. Help:Reverting is an official Wookieepedia page and gives clear directions on how reverting is to be handled. The wording on that page does not present itself as advice: "Do not revert good faith edits" is phrased as a command, not a recommendation. Is there a page that explains that some official Wookieepedia pages are binding, while others are optional? I have not found one, though I confess that I have not read every word of every official page. If you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Asithol (talk) 16:49, January 17, 2014 (UTC)
    • (In case you took my perusal of your reversion history as an attempt to manufacture evidence of impropriety, please allow me to clarify that my motive was to determine whether what appeared to be violations of reversion policy were directed at me in particular, or were part of a general pattern. I couldn't think of a reason you might have a personal grudge against me, but I did want to verify the situation before broaching it. I'm sorry if that came across the wrong way.) • I've already answered your question. If you had bothered to explore that link, you would have seen that those are the pages that are considered formal policy. These pages are marked with Policy. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 03:16, January 18, 2014 (UTC)
        • Thanks, Tope. I understand your position. However, my question was not about your position, but about what is documented. I mean no disrespect whatsoever to your opinion. But at the end of the day, your, or my, or anyone else's opinion doesn't matter; consensus does. And I would think consensus would have to be documented somewhere. So, is there a page that documents that some official Wookieepedia pages prescribing certain behavior do not require users to adhere to that behavior? I have followed the link you provided and several of the links from there, but have not found anything addressing this particular question. Thank you. Asithol (talk) 23:39, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
          • I've answered your question, and I've shown you what and where the policy pages are. Wookieepedia:Consensus explains that all users are obliged to adhere to these policies. That's all you need to know. That's not my opinion. That's policy. If you think users have to follow what a "Help" page says under threat of penalty, you're probably in for a rude awakening. I'm finished with this line of discussion. Kindly stop bothering me about this. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 00:37, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
            • Since an awakening is what I've been seeking, I would welcome one of any stripe. But I also am not seeking to be a nuisance, so I shan't raise the issue with you again.

If I may, I would like to ask your opinion on a related matter. The "Explain reverts" section goes beyond providing rules; it also provides rationales for these rules. Even if not policy, these rationales sound reasonable to me; clearly they do not to you. If you are willing to share, I would like know what you find to be their weakness(es). (I can ask elsewhere for questions of policy and consensus, but obviously I can get your opinion only from you, so I hope you don't find this question bothersome. I would like the benefit of your experience, but I also don't want to unnecessarily infringe on your time.) Thank you. Asithol (talk) 10:22, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

              • I've asked you once now politely to stop bothering me about this and have stated that I have no interest in discussing this further with you. Since you seem intent on ignoring my request, let me make this abundantly clear for you: If you continue this line of discussion on my talk page past this point, I will find you to be deliberately instigating harassment and disruption, which is a violation of Wookieepedia policy, and I will block you from editing accordingly. Don't push your luck. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 15:55, February 19, 2014 (UTC)
                • Please accept my apology for misunderstanding the scope of your request. I was attempting to change the line of discussion, per your prior request. I will not engage you any further on this. Again, my apologies. Asithol (talk) 22:57, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Petite Executor update

Hello Tope. So guess what...there is an update needed for the Executo. It is in the last Angry Birds Star Wars level. I can take care of the brief update, or just drop you a line. Corellian PremierJedi symbolThe Force will be with you always 15:22, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

RE: GAN nominations

Hi Tope sorry for the nomination, I some how thought the limit was six and so put up the latest nomination to replace Anzati Snot Garlic, which recently achieved status. Not sure how I got confused about the limit but it won't happen again. Ayrehead02 (talk) 19:54, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

  • Worth noting that you still have 5 noms on the GAN. Winterz (talk) 21:08, February 1, 2014 (UTC)
    • I know but I didn't realise that was too many till now. You can take down one of them if you want there's two with no activity so far. I can remove it myself if required but I can't delete the nom page. Ayrehead02 (talk) 23:37, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

Question Regarding WookieeNews

Hi! I saw you removed my edit to the WookieeNews page due to not posting releases, but rather posting announcements of products. While this is fine, I was just wondering why in the past, other video game releases (Lego Star Wars Mircofighters, SWTOR content patches) have been allowed to stay up, but Galactic Starfighter cannot. -- 18:20, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

  • Microfighters was one that got through, I think. The TOR patches are different, because they typically don't get a prior announcement that they're forthcoming, as far as I know. General rule of thumb: If we post that something has been announced for a future release, it doesn't then get a second post once it has been released. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:25, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, thanks for the extra insight. -- 23:59, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Breathing suit image

Please give me a chance to source the image. Allow me to upload it again and add the sourcing template. KEJ (talk) 22:50, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

  • Or you could just upload it with the source initially. The notification template I left on your talk page explains how. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 22:51, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
    • Okay, I'll try again. Keep in mind that I'm not a vandal and that I'm doing my best. I'd consider it hugely unfair if you blocked me for making mistakes. KEJ (talk) 22:56, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
      • You do not need to upload the image and then add the source. All you need to do is switch upload forms on the upload page. There is a link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen where you can do this. If you have the correct upload form on your screen, you can add the source before you upload it. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 22:59, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
        • You know what. I give up. KEJ (talk) 23:09, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Standard

Hi to you know how to add the Standard Summaries and Standar preloads and Preload Pagename? i try to do something but it really dont work. I have a wiki test so, if you know how, i d'like to name you admin in the testing wiki and then, you'll do it? Please--Talk page Emperor Jarjarkine Contribs 23:36, February 9, 2014 (UTC)

  • We really don't want someone who doesn't know what they're doing to be editing these things on our wiki, if that's what you mean. And I have too much work to do on this wiki to be worrying about other wikis. Sorry. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 23:42, February 9, 2014 (UTC)

Thx anyway--Talk page Emperor Jarjarkine Contribs 23:47, February 9, 2014 (UTC)

Re: False image sourcing

Just to clarify, the series isn't out yet, but it doesn't need to since these are promotional images and the assets come from it (and Lucasfilm). Anyway, they're already sourced with an article. Alexrd (talk) 21:52, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

  • That's not how our sourcing works. This is simple enough for you to understand. Don't even start a debate. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 21:54, February 13, 2014 (UTC)
    • What?! I'm not debating anything. Like I said, I was just clarifying why I used Rebels as a source. Alexrd (talk) 22:01, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

Javapedia

Hi, I've created the page Javapedia because it's a "Wookieepedia in other language". I think it isn't a fan site, because it's just another Star Wars wiki just in Italian language. ADMIRAL MIKE501 Yes, Sir! 17:17, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

  • We're all just fan sites at the end of the day, and we've deleted other foreign Star Wars wikis for lack of notability. You'll notice we don't have many articles in this category, and I can't even speak for the ones that are there now. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:20, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

I didn't get image from google I got it from Dulfy and I didn't know there was a template to fill out. -- 21:31, February 18, 2014 (UTC)

IRC

Hey Tope,

I have a problem with the IRC.... I can't seem to get on it. When I click the chat tab to the left of the monobook layout, I get the right page on the wook, but when I try to login form there, I get transferred to Wikia's community central. Is there a way around this, or is this happening for everyone? Thanks, 501st dogma(talk) 13:48, February 23, 2014 (UTC)

thx and sorry

Hi i wanted to tell you that it is the 3d wiki of my top 15 of amazing wiki. I love this wiki. It is so nice to read the articles. When i was fun of Starwars, i was comming here everyday or almost to read thoses awesome articles. It is really cool. And i know that you're one of thems who worked alot. And when i say them' i am talking about the WOOKIEEPEDIA . I am really Grateful of all your work.

Sorry for the last time for my stupid request. i did'nt mind to bother you, cuz i was shy to ask something to an administrator here. So i seemed a little bit stupid and i feel shamefull for that so sorry. But anyway, i hope that the WOOKIEEPEDIA will continue their great works ! 19:28, February 23, 2014 (UTC)

Question

No Problem I had to apologize :) I was scared to talk to someone here again but i decided that you guy were'nt going to eat me :D Anyway, There is something i dont understand. I tried to say in my las message, Wookieepedia one word and it was'nt publish and it sais ITS WOOKIEEPEDIA DAMN IT ! What is that ? Oh and i have a little question, was it long for your wiki to get amazing like right now and active like it is ? -- 20:07, February 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • The correct spelling is "Wookieepedia" (with two E's), but people often spell it with one E, like "Wookiepedia," so that gets on our nerves. We've been in operation for nearly nine years now. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 15:49, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Upload Photo Issue

Hi Toprawa. Been a while since I last uploaded an image. I just tried doing so right now and I'm getting this error message. "mwstore://swift-backend/starwars/images/e/ea" Is there an issue with the upload? I didn't want to send in the form unless I was sure. Thanks. --ToRsO bOy (talk) 06:43, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

  • Ah, and here I thought I missed a step or something. Thanks. ToRsO bOy (talk) 01:42, February 27, 2014 (UTC)

Clones and lightsaber

Hi there's something that i dont understand. The colour of a lightsaber is important for a jedi or a sith ? Because, can a jedi uses a red sword or it is like reserved for the sith ? And, does some crystals are changing the power of a sword and the power of the user? Sorry if my english is bad :S.... In stars wars 3, the color of the clone's armor started to become a little diffrent. And because of the expensive number of clones, i guess they've created alot of divisions and brigades. But, some people here at my school are saying that if a clone have a red armor, he's high-ranked than someone who's wearing a green one. I think its was right in the star wars clone wars ( the movie) But with clone wars ( the serie) it changed a bit. So , do you have an explanation for that ? 16:36, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry, but I'm not here to answer all of your many Star Wars questions. I'm sure you'll find your answer in our lightsaber article. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 16:39, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Aye then thx :)-- 16:52, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Hi

Hello there, I'm wondering why you reverted my edit on the Kota's Militia page, could you please reply with the reason why you reverted it? AzelfandQuilava 22:54, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Occupation of Kesh capitol building

I can confirm that the title of the article is conjecture. John Jackson Miller does not name that skirmish officially either in Pantheon or his production notes. But it was defitinely a skirmish when the other two factions attacked the Sisters of Seelah. I would have made the changes right now but I am an on an ipad which doesnt have all the tools neeeded to properly edit and I have to go to church soon. It is Sunday morning in New Zealand. New source

Hey there, Tope. You added a new source to Hand of Judgement article. Do you have access to it? Does it contain any new information that is relevant to the article? I'm just asking because I have no access to any Insiders. Thanks.--Dionne Jinn (Something to say?) 16:31, March 13, 2014 (UTC)
