Peritonitis

Hey, Tope. I got a question regarding the discussion about Wookieepedia not being a dictionary. Yesterday I was asked to create an article for Peritonitis, as the disease was mentioned in this article.   • Sometimes there can be a fine line between what is a dictionary definition and what is an encyclopedic topic, and often times we're left to our subjective opinions on what warrants an article.   • It's no problem, I don't mind going through them. If you mention someone is a clone trooper, that's basically the same as saying he's a Human male clone. So, yeah, it's kind of redundant. Thank you for your work on the articles and the very detailed report on what to do on the AC Meeting page. However, I'm unsure about your Gwarrk objection. While I can try to mention all the stuff he wears/carries, we have no idea if this is personal or "royal" stuff.   • Well, don't take my personal description of it as "royal" to be binding or anything. I didn't know what to call it exactly. My point is that he's a leader of his people, and he's obviously wearing a crown, some kind of ceremonial necklace, and he's carrying some kind of spear that to me looks like it's meant to be a scepter (but perhaps not). Do other Rishii in this story wear a crown, a necklace, and carry a spear? I'm guessing not, which means Gwarrk wears them for a special reason, and we can basically infer that to mean because he's a chieftain. That's why his regalia should be mentioned in the P/T. I knew one day these clones will put me to an early grave. Well, I'll do my best. Allow me one question: Is the "relationship" stuff also part of the entry? While I can source Human, male, clone, Kamino and the 1.83 meters to the entry itself, the clone of Jango Fett fact is only in the "relationship"-field.   • The Relationship section is technically part of this entry, but just to be on the safe side, I would stick with the Databank or some other reference to source mentions of clone troopers being cloned from the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. Neither the clone trooper or Jango Fett Encyclopedia entry mentions the fact that he's Mandalorian, for example, while the Databank does. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 23:43, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

      • Well, it's not that it's mandatory, it's just a good practice to keep articles referenced with the most updated, recent source possible. Especially since the Databank no longer exists, readers may possibly wonder whether that information even counts anymore. So it's better to direct them to the new Encyclopedia. Hey, Hk 47. A while back, you added "Battle of Kuat (Yuuzhan Vong War)" to the Battle of Kuat disambig page, but it still remains a redlink. Proxy Connection with Opera Brownser

  • Hi, I was banned because you reported me using a proxy connection and I would like to explain myself and inform you of a major problem.
  • First, I use two browsers: on my computer I use Opera brownser and Mozilla and on my android phone I use Opera browser too.

I checked my phone and computer and they're no proxy connections active (and I'm sure of that as know how to configure or create one).

The proxy server I used was “server:opera-mini.net “ but I was not aware of that. And I made some research and I found out this.

  • All people using Opera browser (on computer,android,windows phone and apple) are listed as using a proxy connection named Opera Mini Proxy

However this is not a proxy connection but a “Internet Access protocol” which is the way the browser access the internet. This come from a programming error and it's not actually using a proxy connection.

Opera is a simple browser like Mozilla,Explorer,Safari... this is not a browser like the us army TOR browser using encrypted proxy connection also known as the Darknet.

  • As a conclusion I would like to apologize and make a public enquiry to be unbanned.

And I would to make some suggestions: It would be great to inform The Wikia community of this as plenty of people are using Opera. And on the wiki rules you should inform people that Opera,Tor Browser cannot be used on wikis. Or you can consider that someone with an active proxy connection named “server:opera-mini.net” and a registered account cannot be considered dangerous as we don't choose the proxy connection (as it's not a real proxy connection) this is always named “server:opera-mini.net “. You can contact Opera development team for more informations http://www.operasoftware.com .

If you choose to let registered users using opera browser continue to edit pages please inform me but if you don't I engage not to further use Opera browser to edit pages. And it seems that we can't email other users on this wiki it would be great if we could that would help people like me to help you or to inform you of the different problems.

  • I didn't ban you. I blocked your Opera IP server range, which, as you say, registers as a proxy. Whether it's a proxy or not, it seems it's nonetheless a public access port, which means it's still vulnerable to troublemakers. The range I blocked was relatively small, so you're most likely the only user affected by it. But since you evidently demonstrate the ability to edit anyways through Firefox via a normal ISP, it doesn't appear we have a problem here. Happy editing. Hello Toprawa and Ralltiir :)

I have seen the message yesterday in regards to Wookiepedia requiring a subscription. The only Problem I have with it is the 10 articles per month for non-subs which will severely kill off visits to the site. Paying to be add free and stuff is fine...I am here just to ask for a link to the Subscription stuff If you could please as long as the whole thing wasn't an April Fools joke which I sincerely would not have found funny at all as Wookiepedia is one of my favourite sites ever :)

I decided to go with another frame from this shot for the Episode III icon, specifically this frame which is the full frame (rather, as much as will fit in the 160x60 ratio and be centered on the action) and has the sabers at a more upward angle and with less lens flare. Question

After learning about the recent canon overhaul, I was curious as to how the wiki's admins would handle rearranging all the content to make it fit with the current vision. I noticed that for pages such as "Heir to the Jedi" or any episode of The Clone Wars, there is now a.banner that says "canon"indicating its new status. I also noticed that for pages for characters or media within the EU, there is a banner reading "legends". However, even pages for Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 show the banner for legends, which doesn't make sense, as those characters originated within the films themselves. Do you know why this is?   • Yes, the answer is because we're still working on implementing everything, so what you see right now is basically an incomplete work in progress. We have over 110,000 articles, so you can imagine it's all going to take a little bit of time, but we're making steady progress. Mongo tribesman

On the recent changes you made on the Mongo Beefhead Tribe page, should the reference to the Dex's Diner at least be chronicled. Call it a possible mention, or at least list it in the Behind the scenes section as something that is a "likely" or "possible" reference. There's no explicit connection, but we know that's the reference intended by the author. Doesn't seem right to me to just ignore it. --JMM (talk) 14:17, May 21, 2014 (UTC)

  • A mention in the Behind the scenes section would be more than appropriate. The original The Epic Continues presentation binder said that they were nearing extinction but didn't say why, and I think it's obvious that the Dex's Diner author intended it to be because they were being hunted for their meat. New Canon

Hi, I'm still a little confused on the issue of this new canon in regards to TCW. I don't get how TCW can be on both two timelines for things that are strictly TCW exclusive, meaning characters etc. that are only from TCW. Wouldn't they just be one article for them and not a separate Legends and canon article. I hope you get what I'm saying since I might have worded it maybe off.   • Hey Darth Pythonis. The reason that The Clone Wars is in both continuities is because it existed prior to April 25, 2014, which is the date that Lucasfilm announced that the Expanded Universe was not official canon. Only stories that have been released after April 25th are canon-only. The Expanded Universe makes extensive use of The Clone Wars storylines, so The Clone Wars is still clearly part of the Legends continuity. But it's also official canon, so it exists in both continuities. This can be a little confusing at first, so your questions are understandable. Hopefully I answered them. Hello, sorry to bother you, but I've a little question: in the "canon" version of "legends" articles (like "CT-7567/Canon") do you write just what appears in the six movies or in "The Clone Wars" too? Because the episodes are "canon" but it seems that they aren't treated so in writing "canon" articles. As you can see from the Dark Horse website, however, the article was correct in regards to the existence of the TPB, it only needed to be sourced properly. Could you undo the deletion? Thanks. I apologize if I sound rude, but all information on that article were confirmed by the episode itself. The title sequence however is not attached to any episodes streamed off of youtube, which I guess is connected to its opening theme. Hey. Galactic Gladiators contains new information, such as the name of a previously unnamed character. The Layout Guide, under External links, indicates that "some entries on the Star Wars Blog ... have unique canonical information and should be treated as Sources".   • Wookieepedia previously discussed whether or not to add social media links to Sources list, and there was no consensus to do so. Even so, the clear intention was to only list posts that contained unique canonical information, similar to how we list Star Wars Blog articles. In other words, there's no reason to list every Facebook and Twitter post that comes out of Lucasfilm, and there's certainly no special reason to list that specific AT-DP pilot post. Star Wars Legends edits

I've been working on some updates for the Star Wars Legends page at my sandbox, but it remains locked at this time, so I need an admin to update the page for me, please. Most of the updates are to the "Continuity and canonicity," past tense etc. related to the decision to change the Expanded Universe to "Star Wars Legends" and should be good to pop straight into the article. In the "Radio and audio drama" section, I think it's safe to change to change "Adaptations of the prequel films have not been made at this point." to "Adaptations of the prequel films were never made." There are also several dead links in the External links section that can be replaced with the Internet Archive links I put in my sandbox. Finally, the quote I have on there I think would be a good choice to add to the "Books" section if you want to add it.

On a sidenote-- the "Legends" banner on the top of Legends articles still links directly to the redirect "Expanded Universe," rather than "Star Wars Legends." ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:02, August 25, 2014 (UTC)

  • Absolutely not. From what I can see, all of the information in that article was complete fanon/extrapolation, which is why it was originally deleted. Work in progress

I would like to clarify the use of {{WIP}} on Star Wars: The Old Republic and by extension Anakin Skywalker/Canon. It was my understanding that it could continue to be used, as it is being done there, so long as there are sections that still need work. Also, when you go in to edit the page, it gives the exact same message as it does if it has "Inuse," which is problematic. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:58, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

  • Firstly, the Inuse and WIP tags are the same thing. Their redundancy is a discussion for another time. Secondly, as a rule of thumb, you shouldn't leave Inuse/WIP tags indefinitely on major pages like Anakin Skywalker, since many people are going to want to edit those pages. It's not fair to others to leave the tag on there and expect other people not to edit the page for days on end. It's another matter when you're writing article subjects of less import, since you're not likely to encounter people who want to edit minor pages in the time it takes you to write that article. If you want to work on Anakin Skywalker long term, do it on a personal subpage. And just because you see someone doing something somewhere else on Wookieepedia doesn't necessarily mean it's ok.   • I think it's absolutely ok, and I'm actually glad you asked, because I figured someone would be wondering about this. If you read the article, it says that the costumes are meticulously detailed after the models in the Lucasfilm Archives, and Lucasfilm officially endorses them, so I'd say they're definitely fair game. Deletion of Agent

Hi Toprawa! I was wondering if you could possible delete the page Agent. You see, in the talk page of Agent, a couple others and I discussed moving Agent to Agent/Canon and moving Agent (rank) to Agent. This would be in accordance with Wookieepedia policy, as the Legends page, Agent (rank) is the most used and highest priority use of Agent within Legends. All who discussed the transition on the talk page agreed that it was the most logical decision as well. I have already moved what used to be Agent to Agent/Canon, and have even corrected all (or at least I believe all) of the links to Agent to now go to Agent/Canon, however I cannot move Agent (rank) to Agent until it is deleted. I'm afraid you'll have to explain this a bit more. I thought it was policy, and still is, to link what ever is possible, with some exceptions such as linking to a disamb page. As such, why exactly is 'Agent' considered a generic term, in that sense? While the word itself may not be totally relevant to, for example, Shmorg, I feel it should still be linked when used as a title, such as when inf front of Kyle Katarn, as he has been explicitly established as an agent (Such as in a way other military ranks seem to be linked when in front of an individual who has attained that rank).   • There is no policy that says we have to link to whatever we possibly can whenever we can with no sense of whether it actually makes sense or not. We link to things that are relevant. "Agent" is a specific rank, like Admiral or Captain. Examples include Agent Kallus or Agent Cipher Nine. This is not the same as someone who in a general sense is an agent of an organization. Kyle Katarn is a mercenary agent in a generic sense; he is not a literal ranked Agent of the New Republic, so the Agent rank article should not be linked to when mentioning Katarn in such a manner. This is similar to the word "lieutenant." Someone can be someone's lieutenant or right-hand man without being a literal ranked Lieutenant. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 04:28, December 8, 2014 (UTC)
    • Aaah, okay, that last example nailed it. That makes sense. Although are we sure about the Kyle thing? I thought that Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire and Dark Forces: Rebel Agent made it very clear that he was hired and ranked as an Agent of the Alliance. Hm, maybe not. While I'm here, explain Rick Barba too me. What exactly is needed as a source, other than his name being on the cover of the book he wrote? Or is that he, as far as I know, only has one contribution and isn't notable enough (In which case why not just delete the whole page immediately)? Do I need some extra link?       • The idea here is that OOU articles should now have Bibliography sections, which serve the same function as the Sources section in an in-universe article. Just list the game guide in a Bibliography section for him. And yes, there are many, probably hundreds, of OOU articles across the site without Bibliography sections, as this is still a relatively new policy and OOU articles go pretty much ignored.     • The box is very nicely designed. Mind if I offer a suggestion for this? I'd suggest hiding this box (if possible) for unregistered users.         • Well, hiding the box is outside of my area of expertise—I just took existing code and worked with it—but I'm sure it's possible. It's all just a matter of making the necessary additions to the "monobook-hide" class to include unregistered users. Hello Tope. On the Wikia Sking navigation bar, on the Wookieeproject section, the linking is adding an extra "Wookieepedia:" in front of the correct page titles, sending the users to a redlink page instead of the actual project. i.e Wookieepedia:WookieeProject:Rebels when it should be WookieeProject:Rebels".   • That doesn't mean anything for the purposes of Wookieepedia, even if it is accurate. All information on Wookieepedia must be attributable to a reliable source, and slashgear.com is not a reliable source. We have no way of confirming that leaked photo or whatever it is truly comes from Episode 7. The best practice is to wait for an official confirmation from Lucasfilm. Care to Help Us Revamp?

Hello, Toprawa and Raltiir! (I'm doing my best to make sure that this message doesn't look like spam :))

My name is Jacob, and I'm the senior administrator and bureaucrat for the Star Wars: The Old Republic Wiki (http://swtor.wikia.com). I'm writing because our Wiki is in a state if informational decline, mainly because we do not have enough active users to keep up with the expanions and new content being added to the game. Is it possible that you could contant a few users that you know are well-versed in Old Republic-era knowledge that would be willing to come and help us out? We are currently in the midst of a revamp, and would love all the help that we could get.

BTW I already contacted Cade regarding this, but it appears as though he doesn't like out Wiki (according to one of our administrators) and hasn't responded to the message I sent him over a week ago.

Respectfully speaking, I have no interest in contributing to your wiki nor will I be contacting other Wookieepedians to see if they would like to do so. Take a moment to consider your request from our perspective (and this question is rhetorical): Why would Wookieepedia want to sacrifice its own manpower to help another wiki that is trying to cover the exact same content in virtually the exact same way? Frankly speaking, I share Cade's opinion on the institutional folly of allowing Star Wars splinter wikis to operate as mirror projects to Wookieepedia, but we have no control over that. Confusion about Canon

Hello, I tried using your Star Wars answers wiki (starwars.answers.wikia.com) to find the answer to this question, "Is Star Wars the Clone Wars television series canon?" and the answers were both yes and no. Is the television series canon, because I have not find a suitable answer on any of the wikis. This wiki says that it is canon, however, it has all the events that took place in the series as Legends. If the Clone Wars is cannon, then why are all the events that took place during that time considered Legends on this wiki. It seems as if it is only partly canon.
