Welcome, Wolf Screech!Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Wookieepedia aspires to be a reliable source for all Star Wars fans to read and draw information from, and as such, fan-created continuity and fan fiction are not allowed within our articles. All in-universe material must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Do not remove talk page and forum comments, including your own, as they are part of the public record. Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. For an optimal viewing experience, Wookieepedia recommends using the Monobook skin. For help changing your skin preference, see Help:Skin. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Senate Hall, visit our official IRC channel, or ask me on my talk page. May the Force be with you! —SFH 00:27, May 23, 2012 (UTC) |
Uploading images
While all good-faith contributions to Wookieepedia are appreciated, we ask that you please refer to Wookieepedia:Images, which can be found under the "other policies and guidelines" link in your welcome message, and familiarize yourself with the sourcing and licensing requirements before uploading any more images. The only uploading method supported by Wookieepedia, Special:Upload, will prompt you to enter this information. Wikia's non-standard upload forms are not supported under Wookieepedia policy, and ignorance of the uploading rules is not an acceptable excuse. Continued violation of the image policy or falsification of any information in an upload description are considered vandalism and will likely result in a block. Thank you. - All images are uploaded directly to the site; even if they are intended solely for your userpage, all upload instructions must be followed. A full table of Aurebesh letters, images included, can be found on the Aurebesh article. Grand Moff Tranner

- That would obviously depend on what you want to do with the Aurebesh, how you want to display it, where you want to display it, etc. To be completely honest with you, I currently do not have the time to help you with your userpage. I suggest you use the IRC channel to find someone who can provide assistance. Grand Moff Tranner

Image policy
Please note that all of your recently uploaded images have failed to provide any sourcing requirements. Citing a source for images is essential to avoid copyright problems, which is why it is required by policy. The image policy page clearly outlines the instructions for uploading an image, and all fields in the Special:Upload form need to be filled out when uploading an image. If the upload template isn't working for you, then you need to use {{Information}}. Please note that continued failure to source images may result in blocking from the administration, so please make sure that you are following Wookieepedia policy when uploading images in the future. Thank you. CC7567 (talk) 14:44, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
- Hopefully Special:Upload is loading correctly for you; that should list all the information you need to provide when uploading an image. If not, you can either take a look at {{Information}} (as I just indicated) or look at any of the current images on the site to see how images should be sourced. Hope that helps. No hard feelings—as long as you know what to do in the future. :) CC7567 (talk) 15:31, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
- You won't get blocked as long as you make sure that you're following policy and properly sourcing images. You should be using Special:Upload every single time you upload an image, because that's the easiest way to make sure that you fill out all the fields. You need to specify the Source of the image (i.e. a website URL or a Star Wars product), as well as the copyright licensing, and a short description of whatever the image depicts. By filling out the proper parameters, you will be filling out {{Information}} for the image page, so you won't have to worry about putting the Information template in the description field or anything like that. Please take a look at {{Userbox}}. CC7567 (talk) 21:29, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Please stop
Please stop asking bureaucrats for adminship. You're not going to get it by asking another bureaucrat after Culator told you off. This wiki has established procedures for promoting administrators, and begging for rights is not part of that process. Becoming an admin on this wiki involves contributing for an extended period of time and getting yourself known as a prominent member of the community. Your positions elsewhere on the internet are completely irrelevant. Please take this advice and don't go around anymore asking for adminship. Thank you for your understanding. 1358 (Talk) 16:45, February 6, 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm. Perhaps we should rethink the admin requirements. It's not like they've been specifically designed over the lifetime of the wiki to make certain that only responsible, productive, intelligent individuals are elected. [Redacted by administration] -- Darth Culator (Talk) 18:19, February 6, 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure you're getting the point. Wookieepedia is a meritocracy, not a popularity contest or an "ask-and-you'll-get-powah"-ocracy. That means you have to work to gain responsibilities, and that's not going to change here. Cade Calrayn

- Talk pages are a public forum, and as a result everyone can see them. Also, judging from here and here, what you're attempting to do would probably be more successful if you went through proper channels - our Official Friends nomination page is how you request an "alliance" with Wookieepedia. Re: Wiki
Thank you for the invitation, but because I have limited time online, I normally dedicate my editing time to Wookieepedia and one or two other places. Thanks though. CC7567 (talk) 16:43, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
- If you're looking to advertise, there are plenty of other options out there instead of trying to recruit specific members of the site. Please keep in mind that Wookieepedia is not a general message board or a place for advertisements. Some users don't like being asked to join more sites, so I would suggest you look for other ways to advertise. CC7567 (talk) 17:05, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Re:Wiki
Hello, Wolf Screech. Let me please make this straight, and I hope you won't take it the wrong way. My interest in the StarWarsAnswers wiki is not very intense to say the least. You see, I did edit on that question yesterday because I happened to wander there, and I'm sorry to say that your answer lacked exactitude—please don't take it personally, that doesn't make you a bad person in my book. The issue I have with StarWarsAnsewers is that no sources are provided with the answers. That means people have to take your word for whatever you say. Also, I'm sorry to say that the whole thing sometimes sounds too ludicrous to me because of the questions people keep asking... Seriously, if you need to ask whether Anakin Skywalker is a character from Star Wars or not, how can you not use Google? If you don't know who's Princess Leia's father, how come you even know what Star Wars is? I hope you're getting my point. --LelalMekha (talk) 17:33, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

Here's how you source. Please adhere to these guidelines. Thank you. Cade Calrayn 16:52, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
Re: Question
I cannot answer questions on behalf of community decisions, but you can consult the nomination archive to see why people voted or didn't vote for various sites. CC7567 (talk) 15:41, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
Re: Marja
Thanks for letting me know! I'm not actually an administrator, so I can't perform any punitive action. You're free to post a warning on his talk page yourself (this page is a handy resource) or leave a notice at Wookieepedia:Vandalism in progress. The former is usually the best course of action. Cheers, and thanks again! Menkooroo (talk) 02:33, March 26, 2013 (UTC)
Re:Question
I'm not going to call you an idiot, as I have no reason to, but I would ask you to stop pestering me and other users about the Official Friends process. It's up to you if you want to renominate; I'm not aware of a rule that says otherwise, thought I don't know for sure. However, it will most likely fail, as your wiki has probably not changed enough to convince the community that it it worthy of the Official Friends process. For your wiki to be taken seriously, you have to dedicate a lot of work over a significant amount of time—not a couple of weeks, a year at the least. Regardless, this still doesn't change the fact that your wiki is essentially the same thing as our own Knowledge Bank except that it permits questions that can be easily answered by reading our articles.
On a second note, I'm a busy person. I don't necessarily have the time to answer everyone who leaves a message on my page right away; I have real-life commitments that take precedence. Pestering me and leaving messages to remind me of your message does nothing beyond irritating me. Cade Calrayn 04:52, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
Possible fanon
The page in question is an April Fool's joke. It is to be preserved in its current state for posterity. It is not in the main namespace, and cannot be mistaken for a genuine article. While you may not get banned for removing the words you oppose, any attempt to do so will (and has) been reverted. This is because Wookieepedia is not censored. Also, the page will not be deleted. On another note, it is very bad form to ask a question on this matter, then arbitrarily decide to remove the content without waiting for a response. - Sir Cavalier of One(Squadron channel) 08:30, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
- Because Wookieepedia is not censored. It's a roundabout answer, of course. But the general answer is that we expect people to be mature enough to handle it. There is swearing because that it how it was written. And that's the way it will stay. - Sir Cavalier of One

Warning
Wolf Screech, please familiarize yourself with our NPA policy. Your remark toward Cade on Naru's talk page was uncalled for. Please be careful in the future. JangFett (Talk) 17:15, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
