Removal of Style

Hi there,

I'm unclear of how the inclusion of the "Style" section on [[Monarch of Naboo][ violates style guidelines, and I'm further unclear on why its removal is warranted, as opposed to some sort of cleanup.

Cheers, ~ Michael von Preußen (voicemail)

  • Well, I'm sure when you first signed up with Wookieepedia you took the time to read the welcome message one of our administrators was generous enough to leave for you, which includes several links to Wookieepedia policy pages, including our Manual of Style and Layout Guide. Those should adequately answer all of your questions. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:36, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
    • I have read the Manual of Style several times over, and used it as a base for MoSs on other wikis where none had previously been developed. I still do not see how it forbids the section I added, or any part thereof. If you could kindly take the time to explain how it does, I would be quite appreciative. Thanks, ~ Michael von Preußen (voicemail)
      • Evidently you didn't read it closely enough. I really don't even know where to begin, if you really cannot see how incredibly contrary that edit was to every tenet of style this wiki operates under. Have you ever read one of our Featured articles before? Or any of our in-universe articles, for that matter? Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:42, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
        • Ah, that's why I don't edit here. The rules are stupid, and when I ask for clarifications on how they apply, I get dry wit and rude sarcasm. I find your lack of civility disturbing. ~ Michael von Preußen (voicemail)
          • Funny, because I find your lack of common-sense comprehension skills just as stupid. All you have to do is read any one of our articles, compare what you wrote to them, and see where you went wrong. You won't find an easier case of judgment on the entire wiki. Any one of our many talented editors would be able to point out your mistakes, but somehow this is a challenge for you and you alone. But that's the beauty of Wookieepedia. Our fine little wiki is really quite effective at rooting out and exposing the less intelligent among us. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:05, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

No, you never called me stupid at all. You just said that I had "lack of common-sense" and that you had "root[ed] out and expos[ed] the less intelligent among us". This isn't about the reversion of the edit; it's about the perpetual rudeness you have displayed and the conflict of interest you created in an attempt to prevent me from filing a complaint about it. I personally am at a total loss to see how I can make over 25,000 edits on other wikis, being an administrator myself on three of them, and never encounter any problems, and yet every time I come here I'm treated like my contributions are utterly worthless. I guess it just goes to show the attitude of the people here. That's the reason I only show up once every few months, by the way: it's because the administration has generally shown itself to be rude, obnoxious, and biased. Even when I specifically ask for help; when I ask, "what am I doing wrong?", I get treated like and called an idiot. So don't worry about me showing up and "causing problems" here. I've given Wookieepedians enough chances to stop acting like dickheads to ever bother editing here again. ~ Michael von Preußen (voicemail)

  • You're absolutely right. I think it has been established beyond a reasonable doubt that you do in fact lack common sense, and yes, Wookieepedia is a wonderful natural intelligence exam, which you have now failed on no less than four occasions. You're perfectly welcome to start an NB forum against someone who has actually committed a personal attack against you. You will not, however, start an NB forum to whine because you, once again, can't play nice with someone over something in which you are the provocateur. And let it be very clear, no one on this wiki gives a damn about anything you do on any other wiki or website on the Internet. We don't care how many wikis you're an administrator on. You are judged solely by your editing contributions here on Wookieepedia. And if you can't fit within our mold, that's your problem. So Wookieepedians are rude and obnoxious to you? Well, son, that's just tough, isn't it? This is the Internet. People are only going to give you the same level of respect that you give them. Besides the fact that you are the cause of your own strife, not anyone else, you better learn to get over it if you have any hopes of functioning in the real world, much less Wookieepedia, because I have my doubts for you. Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:20, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Re:Warning

I know what racist means for one. Second of all, other users were attack me with words. Our wiki is just as important as your's. You're letting them attack me and my wiki. Spongebob Fanon Wiki won't deal with personal attacks from Wookieepedia. I think that my opinion matters as much as anyone's. --Bigman602, The Cool Guy 05:26, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think you realized it but a high population of Wookieepedians has insulted both wikis and came over and Vandalized/Spammed/Harrassed people over there, and if it continues, we will take action. And since alot of Wookieepedians have done it, Wookieepedia will suffer a great punishment if it continues. Bigman602, The Cool Guy 05:35, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Clyngunn

  • Source list and footnotes updated. Indeed, Clyngunn only appears in issues #2 to #4. We could also consider an indirect mention in #1, as there's a point when Karrde talks about his "guest list" that will eventually include Clyngunn. Tahv / Mont Saint-Michel

I have a question about the Tahv article. I'm new, but I just don't understand. Perhaps it's not the good place for this, but I will try. Why did the references to the french commune Le Mont-Saint-Michel were removed ? No, honestly and without joke, I truly thought it was obvious. Since the Mont-Saint-Michel is on Wikipedia,it's not hard to verify it. For response, I had a thing like "if the author don't say he took the Mont-Saint-Michel as a model, then it's not the case". So, a comparison bewteen two shots can't be used for something like this ?--Le Passant 19:27, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • If I understand what you're saying, it's not that a comparison can't be made, it's that we typically try not to make out-of-universe, real-world connections/comparisons to things unless they are specifically mentioned by an author or other VIP to be inspired by someone or something. I haven't looked at this specific instance, but I'm guessing the connection you see probably isn't so clear to others, and appears to be your own individual analysis. Toprawa and Ralltiir 19:31, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
  • Okay, I understand now why. But the fact is that, with a single picture from the Wikipedia page, the thing is obvious. You can even count the towers and windows. It's not a little, vague comparison. But since I can't provide a link (the system does not let me)to a shot of the locality, I think I just have to let people search and see.--Le Passant 20:12, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

I don't get your decisions regarding TSLRP vs TSLRCM

I'm posting here because your name is under the result-of-the-debate decisions on these trash compactor pages, and I just don't understand them. On the RP page it's "No consensus" but the other was "Overwhelming consensus to remove the article, no consensus to delete or merge, defaulting to redirect/merge". The result of which is that TSLRCM was removed and TSLRP was not. This is completely baffling to me, because both discussions have the same things: lots of "delete" and "merge" votes. On the RP debate, not a single vote was "keep". So where's the lack of consensus to delete? This seriously grates, especially since both discussions happened at the same time, followed the same pattern and are about essentially the same thing (if you discount that RP is vaporware and CRM is a very real and popular mod that people are playing).--Markus Ramikin 09:58, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • The first thing you need to know is how our Consensus policy works for Consensus track and Trash compactor forums such as these. In order to reach consensus for a decision, and I quote, "Consensus track threads with 10-16 voters will need a 3 to 1 ratio of votes for passage; consensus track threads with 17 to 24 voters will need a 5 to 2 ratio of votes for passage; consensus track threads with more than 25 votes can be passed by a 2:1 ratio of votes/opinions posted on the thread." Neither of these two TC threads reached the appropriate support-oppose ratio level for passage. The RP thread was a 7-6 vote, which is clearly a "no consensus" case. The other was a 12-6-1 vote. Because that forum only received 19 total participatory votes, it required a 5:2, or 2.5:1, ratio for passage; it only achieved a 2:1 ratio, however, so there was no consensus to delete. Ultimately, all CT and TC forum closings fall under administrator discretion. The reason I closed the SLRCM forum as I did was to keep uniform with this decision, since in effect everyone voted to "remove" the article in one form or another, so Grunny decided to take the "default" route and just turn it into a redirect, which is what happened with SLRCM. The reason the RP forum was closed simply as "no consensus" is because, if you notice, that forum was closed first. And I didn't remember Grunny's earlier decision until I closed the second forum to follow suit. The inconsistency is really just my own neglect to keep them the same, and I was aware of the difference, but I wasn't sure anyone would notice or even care. So I apologize if it grates with you. The RP forum could just as easily be turned into a redirect the same way, if that's what people want to do. Changing it would not be difficult. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:13, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
    • Thank you for the comprehensive answer, I appreciate it.
And yes, consistency is good ;). There is some concern that the two projects, which are very similar and fall under the same policies (failing in notability), are not having those policies applied to them equally. This creates a (no doubt false, but unfortunate) appearance of favoritism. So if you say it's indeed a legal and valid choice for you to default to merge/redirect, then yeah, for what it's worth I think you should do so. Both in the interest of fairness and actually going with the spirit of the vote. After all, every single vote on the RP's TC debate was some variation of "don't keep it", even if it was split up between different ideas of what to do with it afterwards.
Disclaimer: I freely admit may be biased, as I am a great fan of Kotor 2 and its Cut Content and it grates me to see the project that restores it get its page deleted but one that doesn't even seem to exist any more promoted over it.
Either way, thanks again for the reply. --Markus Ramikin 20:42, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Procedure CT

Hey, Toprawa. Just letting you know that we've tweaked the wording of the CT on procedure so that a reply is not required. The new wording features this clause removed from option one: "All users who have cast votes prior to the desired change to be included are directly contacted and have expressed either their approval or rejection of said change by commenting under their vote, or the alteration to the vote is rendered invalid." Thanks. Fiolli {Alpheridies University ComNet} 19:53, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Bias

Hello.

I would not prefer to badger you with more TSLRCM and TSLRP related stuff, but on behalf of a large segment of the KOTOR community we feel that we have been wronged.

Simply put, our problem is not that you have established a notability requirement that despite our best efforts TSLRCM has failed to meet. Our problem is the fact that the TSLRP page has not been removed and more links to it have been added.

Our grievances:

1) When attempting to create the TSLRCM page, we were told to fulfill the notability requirements despite adding a great deal of sources that we felt were notable enough (Kotaku, Eurogamer.net, Ars Technica, etc.). We asked for an explanation as to what we were doing wrong, but all we got was a repetition of the same message in a very hostile tone. Only when the article was nominated for deletion was the explanation given. 2) After we received the explanation, we noted that the TSLRP page had no such fulfillment of the notability requirements. We were told by Imperialles that the page in question would also be deleted. It was and thus we believed that fair treatment would be made. However, after our page was deleted, the TSLRP page was not. Apparently no consensus was made. It is worth noting that the split was between deleting the article and merging the article with the cut content article. There was no votes for keeping the article. In other words, there was a consensus to eliminate the article, but not over adding the references of the article to another article. 3) The individual who nominated the TSLRCM page for deletion is Jedimasterfiolli. If you check his userboxes, you will see that "This user supports Team Gizka." This is bias. 4) The links to the TSLRP website are no longer in existence. To be precise, the site administrator moved everything to her own personal site and claims that she will delete the material soon if the remaining Team Gizka member Dashus does not indicated any desire to preserve the site. 5) Another significant user who was pushing for the deletion of the TSLRCM page was Imperialles. He visited our site and claimed that he regarded both TSLRCM and TSLRP as fan projects and that both should be removed from Wookieepedia. However, his actions speak differently than his words. He voted for the deletion of the TSLRCM page, but also voted to have the TSLRP page merged with the cut content section.

We regard this as bias against TSLRCM by users who are either likely or definitely TSLRP supporters who see these two mods as competing. In our FAQ, we deliberately state that TSLRCM is not an attempt to compete with Team Gizka. Essentially the developers of TSLRCM took the phrase "Go make your own restoration if you are not satisfied with TSLRP's progress" literally and made a legitimate alternative. We created our page on Wookieepedia purely to inform the public that a restoration for TSL exists, is complete, and has active support. A lot of us still want to play TSLRP if it ever comes out since it was the mod that established our community. Essentially our problem is not with Team Gizka or TSLRP, but rather with the users who feel that we are attacking the mod they support and are attempting to defend it from that perceived threat.

It is also important to note that with the Team Gizka websites link dead, the common passerby may think that not only is the mod dead but that no one succeeded in that time in restoring the cut content and that TSL remains a broken game. In our view, this would be a sad fate.

I was told that you were given the final authority over the TSLRCM page's deletion because you were unbiased. If so, I ask you to please address these grievances. All we really ask is that TSLRCM receive fair treatment.

Thank you for your time. Lord of Hunger 00:20, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Just wanted to give you a head's up, Tope. I uploaded a new wampa pen image, which shows more of the wampa pen door. Take a look and make sure you approve. Thanks. - JMAS 20px Hey, it's me! 14:36, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

  • I like the new image, but as the BTS stands now, I think the previous image does a better job of illustrating the text of the "Additional scenes" section, since it literally shows the referenced scene in which C-3PO tears off the sign. But that being said, I'm eventually going to go through and expand/spruce up the article's BTS some. So right now, I really don't care which image is used. Once the BTS is cleaned up, we'll see where we are. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:53, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Assault on Hoth

There doesn't seem to be any indication of who actually wrote the manual. Paul Murphy is credited with design and development, as he seems to get overall credit for the board game. Aside from that, Peter Corless, Steve Gilbert, Bill Slavicsek, and Michael Stern are all listed under "testing and advice." Xicer920px(Combadge) 04:36, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

His first name of Ledick is also used here, so the Bts is going to need some tweaking as well. Xicer920px(Combadge) 05:34, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Gavyn Sykes

Hi there

I saw that you removed the images that were added to http://starwars.wikia.com/index.php?title=Gavyn_Sykes&s=wl I respect your action, however wanted to discuss it with you. I think it's a really nice thing that there is this timeline of images from multiple sources, as until today there were no images of Sykes from the Battle for Naboo game on his page. I realize there are quite a few images overall, but maybe you can never have too much of a good thing.

As it looked quite neat all aligned on the left, and didn't add to the length of the page, and there was enough text to go around them all, I hope if you're feeling in a good mood today you're able to agree to revert to the last edit. I won't be silly and undo your changes - you're the boss, but I hope you're able to agree that it doesn't hurt anyone or take up bandwidth, but does add a nice historic element to this little known character.

Let me know what you're able to do, thanks T&R.

Final Apologoy

It's Marauder 09 yet again (If you even remember me), considering that I really fucked up, I decided to wait an entire year before even trying to apologize this last time. I know my IP address was supposed to be banned, but when I found out I could even visit the edit page, I was probably more surprised than you may be now. And rather than making the smoothest move of editing right after I found the edit page available to me, I decided to not do anything up.

I'm not typing this up for the purpose of whining about being banned or to be screaming "Fuck you" 25 billion times for banning me, and I realize I was given an extra chance to be a good editor, and I realize that I screwed up. I just simply want to apologize for any trouble I may have caused here or to anyone else, I was only trying to help out, and I was never intentionally trying to be the little asshole I may have portrayed myself to be. And to add, anything I did to get myself in trouble, it was a mistake and not intentional.

I'm not expecting you to read this or even respond, but if you do, please pardon the cusses, it's a hard thing for me to control.

Echo Station 3-8

Hey Tope. I think you asked me to leave this request here, if I recall correctly. Anyway, when you get the chance, I need any info whatsoever on Echo Station 3-8 from the ESB radio adaptation and the ESB NPR dramatization - I'm assuming that any info will be a variation on the two quotes that I currently have in the article. Also, judging by the "What links here" feature, the outpost apparently has entries in the Star Wars Encyclopedia and all three editions of A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, but the info (if there even is any) may be included under a general "Echo Station" entry (I'd imagine this will be the case for the SWE, since that's how it was for the CSWE). Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it, and I owe you. Grand Moff Tranner 20px (Comlink) 23:58, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

The Theft of Vader's Helmet

I thought the in-universe articles have priority, and the OOUs use parenthesis, like in the case of Lady Luck and Lady Luck (comic). I would like to use The Theft of Vader's Helmet, since is not conjectural. What else can you suggest as the name of the mission article?Darth Morrt 10:45, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

  • There wasn't any fanon in the Mission to the Executor (Vader's helmet) article. Maybe some original research, 'cause I don't really get where the little line is between OR and canon. The mission itself is silly, but as canon as any other licenced product. Maybe the mission is infinitries, but it still deserves its own article. The mission should happen somewhere in the middle of the ROTJ, since the scenario uses Admiral Piett, Solo and Vader. I think Solo intercepted the Executor while en route from Coruscant to Endor between two jumps. This is OR, so I didn't added it. When I wrote "presumably" in the article, it was the scenario's assumption, not my, so canon, not OR. I added any single detail from the scenario, because I would have liked to nominate it to GA, if my other similar article, Ambush in Cloud City succeeded. If I pure Mission to the Executor (Vader's helmet) from any possible OR, would you still delete it?Darth Morrt 18:29, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • The little line between OR and canon is actually a very broad line. It basically means don't come to your own originally-concocted conclusions about anything, which is what plagued the last version of this article to a huge degree. An article should only reflect nothing more than what the original source tells you. I have no overriding objections to you creating the article, so I won't necessarily keep deleting it, provided it's done correctly, and it should rightfully be given the "ambiguous canon" template. However, I don't think the article is needed, since there is nothing asserting that this episode/adventure/whatever ever takes place in canon. It's just a "for fun" game mechanics RPG adventure. Regardless, if you do insist on creating this, you need to get a few things straight. For starters, you can't have an image in the infobox like you did, because there is no canonical image to accompany this adventure. Secondly, you can't assert any time span for this adventure, other than sometime after the Battle of Hoth, during Piett's service aboard the Executor. That does not necessarily place the adventure in 4 ABY or in any kind of chronological battle order in line with the events of Return of the Jedi, as you have previously asserted. That means there should be no prelude or aftermath sections. In other words, the article should look almost nothing like your first attempts at creation. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:55, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
      • I thought that when the scenario suggests a strategy, I could assume the strategy actually happened. So this is OR too, right? After the Battle of Hoth, Solo was freezed. In the Battle of Endor, the Executor was destroyed. The only possible time, when this mission could have happened is after the Skirmish at Carkoon, but before the Battle of Endor. There is some off-screen time, when Solo gets his assignment to lead the team to the Endor bunker as General. I think also this mission should have happened in this off-screen time. Is this OR too? (I would say this was a Renegade Squadron mission, but that's clearly fanon.)Darth Morrt 20:11, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
        • After the Battle of Hoth, Solo was freezed. In the Battle of Endor, the Executor was destroyed. The only possible time, when this mission could have happened is after the Skirmish at Carkoon, but before the Battle of Endor. Wrong. You're making a generalized assumption, which falls under OR. How do you know this event didn't take place during the chase from Hoth, before Bespin? The timing is ridiculously impossible, but so is this adventure scenario. So who says it can't be squeezed into that span? The point is, this singular source does not provide a specific enough time frame for the event for you to be making any kind of assertion. What you're saying is probable, but it's not definite. At any rate, I'm not going to delve any further into the details of Original research with you. If you plan on creating this article, it should reflect only what this specific source tells you. Nothing more. Don't try to connect it to other disparate sources, because that is also OR. That's all I have to say. Otherwise, I will continue to delete the article. My suggestion for you is to continue to work on this project on a subpage, and I can give you recommendations and advice before moving it to the mainspace. Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:03, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
          • Ok, thanks for clearing OR for me. Here I have the article. Please look at it, if you have time. I've cut it a bit and added the source for every sentence.Darth Morrt 14:12, June 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • If I rephrase the ref-notes, the result would be what is in the article above. I have cut some notes and added the names of the related sections of the scenario. Better? Darth Morrt 18:50, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

May the best Wiki win

There's on Community Central a vote for best Wiki. After thinking about the Wiki's I did made or I'm Bureaucrat, my vote was going to Wookieepedia. I hope this site will win. It's just so awesome to be here, even if I do not very much here (little edits). OK, I don't know much from Star Wars, but every time I come here (mostly everyday to being updated about new articles) I hope it wins.--Station7 18:58, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Forum:SH:OOU Layout Guide warning

Your remarks in this forum are not acceptable for an administrator or any editor of this site. I refer in particular to your comments beginning "It makes me sick on a basic human level that people actually listen to what Hydro says. I can't believe I'm dignifying his idiocy myself by even responding to him..." Your comments constitute a personal attack under Wookieepedia:Blocking policy, as well as Wookieepedia:No personal attacks and are a completely unprofessional way to conduct yourself on this site. Consider this a formal block warning before I ban you for a cool-off period, as per our Block policy. This kind of behaviour is damaging to the integrity of the Wookieepedia administrators as a body. --Eyrezer 02:39, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

  • Eyrezer, if I were you I'd consider the consistency of "enforcement" where this is concerned. Blocking Toprawa when ignoring just the same types of remarks made on numerous forums and talk pages, directly and indirectly, by other users in the past, heck, even by the object of his comment, would be fairly reprehensible, in my opinion. The administration has no integrity to damage if enforcement by certain among its members has absolutely no consistency. I'd highly suggest taking the lead of users like SavageBob in delivering messages meant to cool down a situation such as this as opposed to very obviously trying to provoke people. Blocking is meant for people who are trolls or general nuisances; actual attempts at dispute resolution are what situations like this, between actually productive users, call for. Rebellion info?

Hey Tope; I saw that you've done some work on the planets from Star Wars: Rebellion (video game), and wondered if you had the strategy guide at all or know who does? I need to confirm something from it for Huoba Neva. Thanks in advance, - Cavalier One20px(Squadron channel) 08:36, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

Excellente! Basically, the original article mentioned that Huoba Neva is referred to as a male in the guide, rather than a female. Can you confirm or deny this? Also, is there any other information about Neva that doesn't appear in-game? - Cavalier One20px(Squadron channel) 07:16, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
Great stuff. I've got the IU entry—I've actually got the game, just not the guide—so that's all I need for now. Thanks! - Cavalier One20px(Squadron channel) 08:21, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

Deletion

I was wondering why you deleted my article. I saw the Robot Chicken Star Wars and the Family Guy Star Wars on here and thought it would be okay to put the aqua teen one. I am new to this site and I'm learning the rules, but I am curious as to why robot chicken and family guy is okay but this one is not. Don't interpret this as me being enraged, I'm not. I am just curious as to why and is it possible and how I can include this article.MasterJedi15 21:11, July 16, 2010 (UTC)MasterJedi15

  • I didn't finish it if the reason is that it was that it was too short and seemed pointless as a result.MasterJedi15 22:07, July 16, 2010 (UTC)MasterJedi15
    • Firstly, I'm not interested in whether or not the article meets Wookieepedia's notability guidelines for fan projects. Your article was deleted because it failed to meet the site's basic requirements for article creation, which you can find here and here. Our wiki holds certain standards for article creation. It's not good enough to create a third or half of an article and leave it to sit in the mainspace in the condition you left this article. If you find you can't finish the creation of an article in one sitting, I would recommend creating a user subpage for yourself, where you can work on the article at your leisure without the pressure to make it perfect. Then when you're ready, you can transfer it over to the mainspace. And regarding some of the comments you impatiently left for Chack Jadson regarding my treatment of your original message, you were not being ignored. Believe it not, I'm a semi-busy man. Sometimes I have other, more pressing concerns to deal with before I take the time to answer your questions. Administrators are not here to serve you at your every beck and call. Can you do me a favor please? I was unaware of the existence of REBJ, and so created Rapid Entry By Jedi. Reason for deletion Star Wars Combine

I was following links to get info about Star Wars Combine. Info about the game was supposed to be here and I did find a page where the info I believe was to be found. I really can't make out what the error code was. I just like to know if it was deleted because that info was not supposed to be here or was there another reason. If you need info I have it and can write the page with what I have making it a good 90% complete (more then enough for a stub so that it can be expanded on. Chiffonage again

I found this while looking through Star Wars: The Official Starships & Vehicles Collection 10, you may find it interesting: "The tactics for using the snowspeeders in combat had already been worked out by Commander Luke Skywalker, and tacticians Beryl Chiffonage and Risiev Credal. Called the Rogue Doctrine, it had been pieced together from the experiences of all the Rogue Squadron pilots over the years, including operations on Corellia and Balmorra where improvisation had led to the use of tow cables to trip advancing AT-ATs, a technique reserved as a last resort as it left the attacking speeder in a very predictable and vulnerable flight path." Bright Hope FF stuff

Tope; checked the FFs last night, and the pages for Zuckuss and the Rebel Transport namecheck the Bright Hope and briefly recount the events surrounding it. 4-LOM's entry, on the other hand, calls the ship the Bright Star, and implies that 4-LOM and Zuckuss destroyed the ship but then had a change of heart and rescued the survivors who went down to Hoth in the escape pods. Very strange :P - Cavalier One20px(Squadron channel) 10:19, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

"However, as they entered the Hoth system, they intercepted the Bright Star - the last ship to leave the ice planet - and, hoping to repair their relationship with the Empire, helped to destroy it. Some of the Rebels managed to escape the ship, but were stranded on Hoth. The bounty hunters schemed to capture them, but Zuckuss was so impressed by the Rebels that he and 4-LOM ended up helping them instead. They took the survivors to Darlyn Boda, where 4-LOM discovered that the sapphire had never been sold."

Featured/good topics?

Hey Top. So, after my brief history of editing at the Wook a few years ago, I started editing at Wikipedia as well. There, like here, I was involved heavily with GAs and FAs. But one thing Wikipedia has that the Wook does not (to my knowledge) are featured topics and good topics. Basically, they are a collection of inter-related articles that are of GA and/or FA quality. There is a specific set of criteria, but for the most part, it's pretty simple. FTs are a set of articles with at least half that are FAs and the rest at least GAs; and GTs are a set of articles that are all at least GAs. Before a topic is promoted to FT or GT, votes have to be held, and a consensus has to a) determine that the topic is a valid one and b) make sure all the articles meet the standards.

Like GAs and FAs, I think GTs and FTs are a great distinction that encourage contributors to do superior work. I think it would be a natural for the Wook to adopt as a policy, as there are many things could qualify for GTs and FTs here. (A few examples that spring to mind, for example, are "Max Rebo Band", which could include the band article itself and all the musicians. Or "X-wing (novels)", which could include that article and the individual articles for all the specific novels.

However, I have absolutely no idea how to go about proposing a specific Wookieepedia policy. lol. I thought maybe you could point me in the right direction for how to go about such a proposal. I also hoped you could give me your input on whether you felt it was a good idea or not. Let me know (and sorry for the lengthy message!) -- Hunter Kahn 20:53, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • What you're talking about sounds a bit like what we do already with WookieeProjects, though obviously you're looking for something much more formally recognized. The best way for you to propose the idea would be to start a discussion thread in the Senate Hall and lay out your ideas, where other people can then weigh in with their opinions. If it sounds like people generally agree with the plan, you can then start a Consensus track forum, where the idea will be formally voted on by the community and, if successful, implemented as policy. Hi! In your opinion, is it fine to assume, that Bodo Baas's Master was a Jedi? This individual is not directly mentioned as Jedi, just as Bodo Baas's "own Master" in JvS:TEGTTF and in Dark Empire 6. There is no other mention of this being. SoresuMakashi suggested not to assume it, and to ask the opinion of AC members. Images

Hey Tope. I wasn't able to get a better version of the first image you asked for, and cleaning up such a complicated image would have been very difficult. I suspect that we both have the same source. I did grab an image for Darlyn Boda. I had to include Ertegas, or otherwise the proportions would have been very bad. However, if you like, I could probably clone out the Ertegas text. I wasn't sure if that is what you were looking for. Let me know if you want me to do that. Cylka-talk- 06:24, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

RPG issue

Hi Tope, I have just learned of an issue that may be of some interest to you. While researching the origins of The Betrayal of Darth Revan, I have learned that there are a number of other RPG adventures that have been released by Wizards of the Coast at Gen Con conventions over the years, which don't currently have articles on Wookieepedia and which have never been officially distributed after the events, like TBODR was. One of them is titled Murder on the Executor and is apparantly set aboard the Executor during the time of ESB, and the player characters have to investigate a murder aboard the ship. Essentially, the events of the scenario are canonical, but the scenario itself is unobtainable. I feel that it deserves some form of mention in the Executor article, but I'm not quite sure how that should be handled. --Jinzler 17:21, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

  • Okay, on further investigation, "The Betrayal of Darth Revan" and "Murder on the Executor" were the only official WOTC adventures released at Gen Cons, the others were apparantly fan-produced. An "Murder" can be obtained from here, if you want to add the info the Executor article yourself, because it was your FAN. --Jinzler 13:18, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

My apologies. I have fixed my signature by your instruction.--Um2k9 This has happened before... 18:59, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

User-images

Just a heads up, Tope, but you have exceeded the user-image limit. Raoul duke.jpg, Frogshit.jpg, Stanley Cup.jpg and now Biteme.jpg makes four. You know the drill. :) - ~ JMAS 20px Hey, it's me! 18:11, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

  • Actually, I don't think I have. Even though I uploaded it for use specifically on my userpage, the Raoul Duke image is now also being used on three other userpages, rendering my continued use of it irrelevant. Since it's now being shared by the community, I think it stops counting toward my three-image limit, which now only includes Mr. Frog Shit, Lord Stanley, and Lady Bite Me. Anything else, JMAS? Bal'demnic revert

Hi, just wondering why you reverted my Bal'demnic edit. The current wording is incorrect because The Essential Atlas has since proved that Khuiumin IV is not located in Auril sector. I updated the BTS section to reflect that. My other change regarding how Khuiumin IV was cut from the Databank entry more accurately reflects what is actually said in the linked blog. --Azizlight 01:51, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

  • Hey i just reverted the edit back - if you still have any objections please let me know what they are. Thanks! :-) --Azizlight 21:46, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Gotal

Hey, Tope. It pains me to say it, but I'd go so far to say that Gotal needs a full-on probe from the INQ. it's not as simple as adding the appearances from The Clone Wars to fix this one up. On a brief glance, I'd say that not all appearances are accounted for in the text (quite a few are in the "Appearances" list but not in the end notes), it needs to be checked that it does have all appearances accounted for (Gotals are fairly popular as far as SW aliens go, so I'd wager a "What links here" search would turn up lots of missed stuff), and the BTS could most certainly be beefed up to account for more of the Gotals' development through the EU. In short, the article needs a major facelift. ~ SavageBob 05:12, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Re:GA?

Hi! I kind of want to push Tatooine throught the GA process, but I want a more experienced person to scan it real quick before I do. Do you think you could do that for me? --Gmalek (The ability to edit does not make you intelligent) 03:36, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Battle of Endor

Hey Tope, If you've got a little bit of time, do you have any ideas of possible sources and appearances for the Battle of Endor? I currently have it up for FAN, but I'm missing some sources. Since you have a lot of Original Trilogy knowledge, any idea where I should look, if there's a series of magazines, junior novels, or the like where I could find mentions to the battle? Thanks a bunch.--ID-21 Dolphin 20px(Talk) 23:04, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

  • By the way- I really like your idea to FAN the Battle of Hoth somwehere in the future, though looking for obscure mentions to the battle is really a killer.--ID-21 Dolphin 20px(Talk) 23:06, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I'm still looking for sources. But Tommy9281 has told me that I can keep the nomination as long as I need, so I'm combing through lists of media and look in places that seem appropriate. For example, I've looked at all the post-Endor novels and cited the ones that had explicit or indirect mentions to the battle. Though the Battle of Endor isn't as hard as the Battle of Yavin, just because almost every source says "something BBY/ABY". Thanks for the advice, and good luck writing the Battle of Hoth!--ID-21 Dolphin 20px(Talk) 01:06, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

3rd Battle of Yavin

Ok, here's the issue, how can they evacuate in the third battle of Yavin, and yet return and have the Imperials invade them again for the fourth Battle of Yavin depicted in Battlefront II? It wouldn't make any sense unless we have those stuff in there. Weedle McHairybug 22:53, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • Believe me, I understand very well the chronology complications. Personally, I'm not convinced that this article shouldn't be merged with the Evacuation of Yavin article, despite the differing Dodonna endings, but that's beside the point. Although what you're suggesting, and that which I have removed, is a cheap, convenient, and logical means of reconciling this battle chronology, there is no source, AFAIK, that states the Rebels evacuated the base, returned later to inhabit the base, and then were driven out again. That would be considered fanon, and unless it can be attributed to a proper source, that specific claim should not be asserted in an article. I would also remind you to please not engage in reversion wars, with myself or any user, and to please be mindful of our three-reversion rule. Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:01, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

almec

Is it too early to add the new information about prime minister almec from the academy episode? Windsword7 02:06, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Ship

Ack! So what do you suggest? I mistakenly changed Ship to be italicized based on what I read in the Bts because the statement made it appear that the italicized form was more correct. GethralkinHyperwave 04:34, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • Simply stating something to the effect of "This articles does not italicize the name due to the majority of sources not doing so" would be appropriate. Toprawa and Ralltiir 04:38, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Cult of Darth Phobos

Since Darth Phobos' article mentions it. Is it possible to recreate the Cult's article with properly sourced information, as short as it may be?--Gonzalo84 06:38, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

  • Wookieepedia is not a source. What that means is, just because you find a redlink on a Wookieepedia article, that does not in itself validate any subject's canonicity. If you can personally vouch for a subject's validity in some official source material that you have researched yourself, then by all means create any verifiable article out there. But don't assume something is real or correct just because you find it on this wiki. Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:47, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Whoops

Hey Tope,

I made a mistake --- I actually put the csd template on the wrong page; meant to put it on Dratun and not Unidentified Gotal. Sorry. :S I agree, it should definitely be a disambig page. I'll create it. Cheers! Menkooroo 04:51, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego

Hello. I edited an article about Obi-Wan Kenobi's street in Grabowiec, Poland. Okay, I may have made a mistake when I did put "Trivia" section in the article, but could you please edit it out instead of deleting whole thing? Loc - Speak!, 23:49, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Belated thanks for the Cookie.

Coming from you, it actually means something. DD97Which bear is best? 18:10, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Light and Dark

The mention is in the second paragraph in the top right-hand corner of page 10. It is OOU and relates to a vision experienced by one of the player characters. Also, as far as I am aware, "Light and Dark" was never officially released online. I hope this helps :) --Jinzler 21:49, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Shadows of Green

The OOU text describes some guy who was badly beaten up as: "he looks to have lost a fight with a wampa." It seems to just be a figure of speech. As for the timeline placement, all I know is that it's part of Year Three of the campaign, which takes place early in the Clone Wars. Xicer920px(Combadge) 00:15, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Monobook search suggestions

Hey Toprawa, I saw that you archived the CT for Monobook search suggestions. I didn't see an e-mail for it in Special:Contact, so—unless you contacted someone by other means—would you like me to enable it for the wiki? Let me know, thanks. - Brandon Rhea 15px (talk) 18:49, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Main Title review

Hello Tope! I was wonderin' if you might be kind to review Star Wars Main Title and tell me what it needs to be an FA. If you don't know much about music, that doesn't matter. I've got that taken care of with Menkooroo. If you could help, I much appreciate it. Thanks!!! MasterFred20px(Whatever) 18:17, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately, I really don't do this pre-nom review thing as personal policy, except in the extremely rare case of personal favors. What I can tell you just by looking at it is that status articles need to be comprehensive. The Star Wars Main Theme is hugely wide-used across the franchise, not to mention popular culture in general. The article should identify every use of the song pretty much ever used in any official capacity anywhere. Its "Use" section is pretty paltry at the moment. Another way of looking at this is that FAs need to be 1000 words by default. This article looks like it barely meets the word limit, if it indeed does at all. Obviously for a subject so significant and noteworthy, it should probably be a lot longer and detailed. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:25, October 29, 2010 (UTC)
    • OK. Thanks. You don't by any chance know of a way for me to find out what games use the theme do you (I've asked around, but there seems to be little interest amongst most Wookieepedians on the topic of RWM)? I've added the games I own, and a couple others added theirs, but I'm pretty sure that's not even close to everything. MasterFred20px(Whatever) 18:34, October 29, 2010 (UTC)
      • I really couldn't tell you other than every Star Wars game I've ever played in my life includes the main theme and accompanying intro scroll. Which probably means you should check out every single one. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:36, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

GAN review

Hello Tope! Just wonderin' if you could possibly review General Grievous' Theme as it's currently up for GAN. Thanks for you time! MasterFred20px(Whatever) 04:47, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Hey

I respect you and all that for being an admin, but don't you think you use some bad language?

--Anr0328 (talkcontribs) 18:42, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • I think your just saying that about my profile because I insulted your horrible page. You would have never told me that about my profile if I had not insulted you. By the way, your profile took some work too buster. It wasn't made in just 5 edits I KNOW that. Don't give me that crap about your policies I know the're not true. --Anr0328 (talkcontribs) 18:58, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Picture reverts

I thought the articles Nal Hutta and Alderaan could do with some restocking of pictures. Why were these edited back? I see no reason for either CW image to be in a bts section. BillNye 19:10, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Wookieecookie
SavageBob has awarded you a Wookiee Cookie!
I just noticed you had fixed a bunch of links to the StarWars.com forums, and I wanted to let you know I appreciate the effort. It's not something we have any formal recognition system for, so here's at least something! :)
  • No problem. I saw you had added the citeweb refs to the 3 ABY dates in your status articles the other day, so I thought I'd throw some links in there. Glad you like them, and thanks very much for the cookie. :) Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:17, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Elite Squadron

I'm pretty sure I've already given you the info, so you might want to check your talk archives ) There's nothing particularly notable in the Executor's appearance in the game, anyway. QuiGonJinn 20px(Talk) 17:08, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Good work

Thanks a ton for the Wookiee Cookie and the appreciation. I'll have all the Starships & Vehicles Collection pages formatted soon, but I'm working from one issue so they'll all pretty much be stubs. Thanks again! Winchester 327 20:21, November 18, 2010 (UTC)
