Plot summary
An Imperial officer reports to Admiral Meori that the blockade above Mon Cala is secure. Meori orders the blockade to be enforced with lethal force, while nearby, the Rebel fleet arrives to reinforce the Mon Calamari. Aboard the Millennium Falcon, Luke receives a message from Dors Urtya, who explains to Leia that he had to act without warning, and he now believes that it is better to rebel if it can make a difference. Admiral Ackbar orders the Rebel fleet to protect the Mon Cala fleet, while he broadcasts a message identifying the Rebels as allies and asks for the Mon Cala ships to transmit their details so he can find a way to save them.
Meanwhile, in space, Admiral Meori is pleased to engage the Rebels. Han and Luke successfully take out a bomber, and Luke is surprised to be saved from an attacking TIE Fighter by his old friend Wedge Antilles. Ackbar contacts the Mon Cala cruiser Aurora Flare and explains a risky plan. The cruiser appears to lose control and heads toward the Imperial blockade. Meori orders his fighters to pick up the cruiser’s escape pods, and when he learns the ship is carrying a full load of coaxium, he orders his ships to cease fire. It's too late; the cruiser explodes, taking out a huge section of the Star Destroyer. Ackbar orders all remaining ships to jump to hyperspace.
On the surface of Mon Cala, Urtya receives a report that both fleets have escaped, but his aide refuses to leave him, knowing Imperial retribution is coming. A giant laser beam from the sky then blasts the surface of the planet.
The rebel heroes land on the Cosmatanic Steppes in the Outer Rim. The shape-shifter Tunga thanks the heroes for the adventure and says he will make a new production about the Mutiny on Mon Cala. Months later, on the Mako-Ta Base, Queen Trios tells Leia how proud she looks. Leia explains that their fleet has grown to include 12 new cruisers, all fully crewed. She says that while the Empire thought the Death Star would bring fear, it instead brought the galaxy together to fight. Leia and Trios express gratitude for their new friendship. After the conversation, Trios uses a maximum-security code to contact Darth Vader and reports that the Rebels are with her and expect nothing.
